Ophthalmologic symptoms are reported in 10-67% of psoriasis (Ps) cases and affect up to 31% of patients with psoriatic arthritis (PsA). The most common include blepharitis, eyelid involvement, uveitis, dry eye syndrome, conjunctivitis, corneal changes, and cataract. Despite the relatively common eye involvement, these symptoms are often overlooked or inadequately managed. Therefore, dermatologists and rheumatologists should interview patients for eye-related complaints to effectively identify and treat patients with ocular manifestations. In some cases, direct collaboration with ophthalmologists is also necessary for comprehensive patient management. The purpose of this intradisciplinary review is to discuss the most common eye symptoms among Ps and PsA patients, which should be considered as a basis for formulating guidelines for Ps treatment by dermatologists, ophthalmologists, rheumatologists, general practitioners and other specialists. In addition, we propose a simple diagnostic and therapeutic algorithm to facilitate the management of patients with Ps and accompanying symptoms of uveitis.

This retrospective cohort study evaluated the association of adjunctive Huoxue Huayu therapy with postoperative outcomes in cataract patients with concomitant allergic conjunctivitis. We analyzed 158 patients who underwent phacoemulsification and intraocular lens implantation between June 2024 and June 2025, with one predefined study eye included per patient. All patients received standard postoperative pharmacologic therapy, and 79 additionally received Huoxue Huayu therapy through routine physician-patient decision-making. Patient-level propensity scores were estimated using multivariable logistic regression, followed by 1:1 nearest-neighbor matching without replacement; repeated outcomes were analyzed using generalized estimating equations. After matching, 78 patients were retained in each group with balanced baseline characteristics. At postoperative day 7, near visual acuity was 0.30 ± 0.10 in the adjunctive-treatment group and 0.20 ± 0.08 in the control group, while distance visual acuity was 0.70 ± 0.20 and 0.60 ± 0.15, respectively. Ocular Surface Disease Index scores were consistently lower in the adjunctive-treatment group at 7 days, 1 month, and 3 months. Day-7 serum interleukin-6 levels were 18.43 ± 4.27 versus 26.71 ± 5.93 pg/mL, and tumor necrosis factor-α levels were 23.56 ± 5.18 versus 34.82 ± 7.41 pg/mL. The adjunctive-treatment group also had lower aqueous flare grades, higher visual-function and cataract-specific quality-of-life scores, and fewer 30-day macular-edema events (2.56% vs. 14.10%). No serious treatment-related adverse events were documented. Adjunctive Huoxue Huayu therapy was associated with more favorable postoperative clinical, patient-reported, and serum inflammatory-marker outcomes; however, the retrospective nonrandomized design precludes conclusions regarding efficacy or causality.

The interplay between host immunity and the microbiome is increasingly recognized as an important factor in ocular surface diseases. Although cutaneous and intestinal dysbiosis have been implicated in atopic dermatitis (AD), the role of the ocular microbiome in its severe ophthalmic manifestation, atopic keratoconjunctivitis (AKC), remains incompletely understood.

Vernal keratoconjunctivitis (VKC) is a chronic pediatric ocular allergy that can progress from seasonal to persistent inflammation with vision-threatening complications. Although Th2-associated mechanisms have been implicated, the immune correlates of disease severity are not well defined. Tear samples from VKC patients (moderate intermittent and moderate persistent) and healthy controls were collected using Schirmer's strips. Cytokine profiling was performed using the OLINK[®] Target 48 Cytokine Panel. Differential expression, correlation with clinical features, and pathway enrichment analyses were performed. Compared to control, IL-15, CXCL11, CXCL9, MMP12, and CCL13 were significantly elevated in VKC, with higher levels in the persistent phenotype. These cytokines correlated with symptom duration, limbal involvement, and papillary hypertrophy. Pathway analysis revealed enrichment of IL-17, JAK-STAT, and chemokine signaling pathways. VKC severity is associated with distinct tear cytokine signatures, with the persistent phenotype showing enhanced chronic inflammatory signaling. These findings identify candidate tear-based markers of disease severity that require validation in larger, independent, and longitudinal cohorts.

Raccoon dog and fox amdoparvovirus (RFAV) has been reported in raccoon dogs and foxes, but natural infection in domestic dogs has not previously been documented. During March-April 2026, samples from four affected Dobermann dogs from a kennel near Novi Sad, Serbia, were submitted for laboratory investigation. After negative testing for canine adenovirus, canine coronavirus, herpesvirus, parvovirus, distemper virus, influenza A virus, and leptospirosis, metagenomic sequencing was performed on selected tissues, followed by bioinformatic analysis and targeted RFAV PCR screening of additional outbreak-associated samples. Affected dogs had prolonged illness characterized by conjunctivitis with ocular and nasal discharge, occasional blue eye appearance, progressive weight loss, poor coat quality, jaundice and biochemical evidence of hepatic injury, and neurologic signs including paraplegia in advanced cases. Sequencing generated 434,220 reads and identified multiple RFAV hits; pooled assembly produced a 4799 bp consensus genome with approximately 97% similarity to known RFAV strains and genome organization consistent with the genus Amdoparvovirus. RFAV DNA was subsequently detected by virus-specific PCR in an epidemiologically linked dog and across diverse specimen types including blood, urine, kidney, spleen, brain, lung, testicle, ileocecal lymph node, and throat swabs, whereas clinically healthy unrelated dogs were PCR-negative.
