- Caffeine-induced strong-to-slight hormesis in Drosophila ananassae: Physiological and developmental responses across two exposure regimes. [Journal Article]J Insect Physiol. 2026 Oct 14; :105077. [Online ahead of print]JI
- Caffeine induces concentration-dependent biphasic or hormetic effects in insects, yet its impact on Drosophila ananassae remains unexplored. We evaluated adult physiological traits (survival, fecundity, lipid content) under adult-only exposure and developmental traits under combined short-term parental adult and continuous offspring developmental exposure across a caffeine concentration gradient …

- Mechanistic insights into the biological effects of environmentally relevant pharmaceutical-loaded real-life polypropylene microplastics in Drosophila melanogaster. [Journal Article]NanoImpact. 2026 Oct 14; :100648. [Online ahead of print]N
- Although the adsorption of pharmaceuticals by microplastics (MPLs) may reduce environmental contaminant concentrations, their effects on bioavailability and biological toxicity following ingestion remain poorly studied. To mimic environmentally relevant exposure, environmentally relevant polypropylene microplastics (PP-MPLs) derived from post-consumer plastic products (real-life) were used as car…

- Hepatocyte IER2 attenuates APAP-induced liver injury by regulating ACOT2-mediated lipid metabolism in mice. [Journal Article]Acta Biochim Biophys Sin (Shanghai). 2026 Oct 14. [Online ahead of print]AB
- Acetaminophen (APAP)-induced liver injury (AILI) is a common serious adverse drug event, yet its molecular mechanisms remain incompletely understood. To identify key regulators in AILI, we conduct a temporal liver transcriptomic sequencing analysis in mice subjected to APAP exposure, revealing a significant and dynamic alteration in the expression of immediate early response 2 ( Ier2). Single-cel…

- Efficacy of Ibuprofen Versus Acetaminophen for Acute Fever Management in Febrile Children: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials. [Systematic Review]Paediatr Drugs. 2026 Oct 13. [Online ahead of print]PD
- CONCLUSIONS: The primary outcome-the proportion of children achieving afebrile status at 4 h-did not differ significantly between ibuprofen and acetaminophen (risk ratio 1.26, 95% CI 0.88-1.80; p = 0.106). Ibuprofen produced a statistically greater reduction in temperature at 4 h compared with acetaminophen (mean difference 0.31 °C), although this difference is unlikely to be clinically meaningful. These findings suggest a marginal quantitative advantage of ibuprofen to decrease body temperature, without a clinically significant difference between the two agents.

- Cellular level investigation of skin permeation using stimulated Raman scattering microscopy and in-silico modelling. [Journal Article]Int J Pharm. 2026 Oct 13; :127543. [Online ahead of print]IJ
- This study presents a novel approach combining stimulated Raman scattering (SRS) microscopy with mechanistic modelling to quantify the disposition and permeation of topically applied compounds in skin. The dermal delivery of 4-cyanophenol and caffeine was investigated using SRS microscopy, generating high-resolution images resolving their distribution within the stratum corneum (SC) lipid matrix …

- Work-Related Musculoskeletal Pain and Analgesic Use Among Undergraduate Dental Students in Iraq: A Multi-Institutional Cross-Sectional Study. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: A high prevalence of WMSP was reported among Iraqi dental undergraduates, with nearly half of affected students reporting analgesic use. Higher analgesic-related pharmacological knowledge was independently associated with lower odds of reported analgesic consumption. A combined approach utilizing ergonomic and pharmacological education may promote better pain-management behaviors and safer analgesic use; however, longitudinal or interventional studies are needed to evaluate its effectiveness.

- Enhancing acetaminophen solubility and stability using an aqueous betaine chloride-acetic acid natural deep eutectic solvent: experimental and mechanistic insights. [Journal Article]
- Improving the aqueous solubility of moderately soluble drugs using safe and sustainable solvent systems remains an important challenge in pharmaceutical formulation. In this study, a series of aqueous natural deep eutectic solvents (NADESs) were systematically designed and evaluated to enhance the solubility, stability, and biocompatibility of acetaminophen (ACP). The effects of hydrogen bond don…

- Dietary melatonin and obesity incidence: a non-linear association in the Brazilian cohort (CUME+ Study). [Journal Article]Nutr Metab Cardiovasc Dis. 2026 Sep 17; :105006. [Online ahead of print]NM
- CONCLUSIONS: Intermediate dietary melatonin intake was prospectively associated with a lower incidence of obesity, exhibiting a significant non-linear dose-response relationship. These findings suggest a potential protective window at moderate consumption levels, independent of smoking status and caffeine intake.
