- Deciphering the Benefits and Risks of Single-Inhaler Triple Therapy in COPD. [Review]Adv Respir Med. 2026 Sep 30; 94(5).AR
- Single-inhaler triple therapy (SITT) combines an inhaled corticosteroid (ICS; for example, fluticasone furoate, budesonide, or beclometasone dipropionate), a long-acting β2-agonist (LABA; for example, vilanterol or formoterol fumarate), and a long-acting muscarinic antagonist (LAMA; for example, umeclidinium or glycopyrronium bromide) in one device. Triple pharmacological therapy reduces exacerba…

- Contemporary bulk-fill restorative materials under simulated asthma inhalation therapy: a comparative assessment of surface stability. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Simulated antiasthmatic inhaler exposure degraded the surface of all bulk-fill materials in a material-dependent manner, with salbutamol exerting the greatest effect. The nanofilled composite showed the highest resistance.

- Comparative efficacy and safety of treatments for eosinophilic esophagitis: Systematic review and network meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials. [Journal Article]J Allergy Clin Immunol. 2026 Oct 20. [Online ahead of print]JA
- CONCLUSIONS: High-frequency dupilumab and STCs are among the most effective therapies across patient-important and inflammatory outcomes. Histologic improvements do not guarantee patient-important outcome improvement. FED benefits are modest and low certainty, and traded off by burdens.

- Short term ex vivo graft conditioning with venetoclax, fluticasone propionate, and IL-2 reduces graft versus host disease in mouse allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation. [Journal Article]
- Hematopoietic cell transplantation is a curative therapy for certain hematologic malignancies but is limited in use due to post-transplant complications such as graft-versus-host disease (GVHD), wherein donor cells mount an immune response against host tissues. GVHD is a major cause of post-transplant mortality, inspiring the development of prophylactic strategies to reduce GVHD severity. However…

- Intranasal corticosteroids in pediatric airway inflammation: From pharmacokinetics and evidence to optimized clinical practice. [Review]Pediatr Allergy Immunol. 2026 Oct; 37(10):e70514.PA
- Intranasal corticosteroids (INS) are widely recommended as first-line therapy for pediatric upper airway disorders due to their potent local anti-inflammatory effects and favorable safety profile. This narrative review evaluates current evidence regarding the pharmacologic properties, clinical efficacy, and safety of INS in children with allergic rhinitis (AR), adenoid hypertrophy (ADH), obstruct…

- A Conversational Multi-Agent AI System for Integrated Multi-Omics Analysis and Biomedical Discovery. [Journal Article]bioRxiv. 2026 Aug 14.B
- Single-cell and spatial omics offer unprecedented opportunities to decipher the mechanisms of disease, however, this process requires teams of experts, iterative trial-and-error and reasoning across modalities. Here we present LungChat (https://chat.lungmap.net), a conversational system for integrated multi-omics analysis and biomedical discovery, deployed as a hierarchical multi-agent architectu…

- Why Albuterol is Outdated: More Effective Strategies for Managing Asthma Exacerbations. [Review]Immunol Allergy Clin North Am. 2026 Nov; 46(4):631-637.IA
- While short-acting beta-agonists have been a mainstay of therapy during acute asthma exacerbations and for patients with intermittent asthma, there is increasing evidence that the use of combination inhalers, containing both an inhaled corticosteroid and a fast-acting bronchodilator, lead to improvement in symptom control, reduction in severe asthma exacerbations, and increased adherence to medic…

- Case Report: Multisystem response to dupilumab in a child with atopic dermatitis, asthma, eosinophilic esophagitis, and other gastrointestinal manifestations. [Case Reports]
- CONCLUSIONS: This case suggests that IL-4/IL-13 blockade may provide coordinated clinical benefit across multiple type 2 inflammatory organs. The gastrointestinal findings should be interpreted cautiously because symptom improvement was not confirmed by repeat biopsy.

- Therapeutic Switching of Biological Drugs in Paediatric Severe Asthma: Experience of a Referral Centre. [Journal Article]
- Background/Objectives: Biologic therapies are the cornerstone of severe asthma management. However, evidence regarding switching between biologics in children with severe asthma remains limited. Methods: Retrospective observational study including patients aged 6-17 years with severe asthma, followed at our tertiary referral center, who switched biologic therapy. Clinical, laboratory, and lung fu…

- Eosinophilic Esophagitis Revealed by Hematemesis in an Asthmatic Adolescent: A Case Report. [Case Reports]
- Eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) is a chronic inflammatory condition of the esophagus, with increasing prevalence and incidence, characterized by eosinophilic infiltration of the mucosa, and frequently associated with asthma and atopic predisposition. We report the case of a 13-year-old female patient with poorly controlled moderate persistent asthma, admitted for recurrent vomiting over the past y…

- Evaluating Satisfaction and Quality of Life with Elpenhaler: A Pooled Analysis of Real-Life Studies. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Treatment delivered via the Elpenhaler is associated with high patient satisfaction and with significant and sustained improvements in quality of life, supporting its effectiveness in real-world respiratory care. The identification of factors associated with satisfaction and quality of life improvement may help in personalising treatment and optimising care.

- Residual contamination in nebulization medication cups after corticosteroid administration: an in vitro assessment with implications for equine doping control. [Journal Article]J Equine Vet Sci. 2026 Sep 21; :106152. [Online ahead of print]JE
- CONCLUSIONS: Routine cleaning markedly reduced but did not eliminate corticosteroid carryover from medication cups. The interchangeable use of medication cups after corticosteroid nebulization may pose a contamination risk. The use of separate cups for corticosteroids and non-regulated substances should be considered.

- CONCLUSIONS: This study suggests it may be feasible to assess CR using EMR data in Japanese patients with asthma. However, infrequent recording of CR components in clinical practice, particularly ACT and lung function tests, limits availability of EMR data for CR assessments and the potential generalizability of CR findings.

- Trends in the Use and Costs of Medications for Respiratory Management Included in the 2022 Benefit Plan of the Colombia Health System. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: After the 2022 Benefit Plan update for respiratory conditions such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, increases in the dispensing and direct pharmaceutical costs of the newly included therapies were observed. These temporal changes suggest modifications in prescribing and dispensing patterns, potentially reflecting greater access to recommended first-line therapies, although causal attributions to the Benefit Plan update cannot be established, given the descriptive nature of this study.
