- Association between the EU desflurane phase-out and secondary market vaporizer prices: An observational time-series analysis. [Journal Article]J Anesth Transl Med. 2026 Dec; 5(4):197-205.JA
- CONCLUSIONS: Desflurane vaporizer prices on eBay were associated with an agent-specific decline; non-regulated agents remained comparatively stable. These observational findings are consistent with, but do not establish, an effect of the EU desflurane phase-out and should be interpreted as hypothesis-generating, given the single-platform design, unmeasured confounders, small post-restriction sample size, and multiple trend tests.

- Sex-dependent cortical responses to terpene-based olfactory stimulation revealed by EEG and sLORETA. [Journal Article]Neurosci Lett. 2026 Sep 04; 886:138727. [Online ahead of print]NL
- Olfactory stimulation with volatile terpenes has been associated with modulation of human brain activity; however, sex-dependent neurophysiological responses to terpene-derived aromas remain unclear. This study investigated cortical responses to orange- and pine-derived terpene aromas using relative spectral power analysis of electroencephalography (EEG) rhythms and standardized low-resolution el…

- Daidai Flower Essential Oil as a Multifunctional Natural Agent: Chemical Profile, Antimicrobial Activity, Preliminary Insecticidal Potential, and Improved Microbiological Quality of Fresh Arugula During Refrigerated Storage. [Journal Article]
- This study evaluates the potential of daidai flower essential oil (DFEO) (Citrus aurantium var. daidai) as a natural preservative for fresh leafy vegetables. The chemical composition of DFEO was determined by gas chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry (GC-MS), revealing a neroli-type profile dominated by linalool (42.8%), limonene (19.9%), and linalyl acetate (15.3%). The tested batch of D…

- Legacy subsea plastics from the oil and gas industry: Environmental risks of decommissioning in situ. [Journal Article]J Hazard Mater. 2026 Sep 15; 516:143055.JH
- Accumulation of end-of-life plastic is a global environmental problem. Plastics are widely used in oil and gas infrastructure and bring considerable benefits while in service. However, the environmental consequences of end-of-life decommissioning scenarios are largely unknown. Using the UK Continental Shelf (UKCS) as a case study we estimate the mass of plastics deployed in subsea pipelines, quan…

- MetaboSense: An Integrated Quantum Dot-Mediated Aptamer Assay and Modular Microfluidic Platform for Continuous In-Line Monitoring of Lung Metabolism During Ex Vivo Perfusion. [Journal Article]
- Organ transplantation provides a life-saving intervention for patients with end-stage lung disease; however, access to this treatment remains limited by the shortage of donor organs. Ex vivo lung perfusion (EVLP) is a platform that enables surgeons to assess extended-criteria for donor lungs prior to transplantation and has safely expanded the donor pool. Yet current EVLP biochemical assessments …

- Seasonal dynamics of trace elements, sediment contamination, and child health risks in six Egyptian red sea ports: an integrated water-sediment-human health assessment. [Journal Article]
- Coastal port environments along the Red Sea-Suez Canal corridor face intensifying multi-stressor pressures, yet integrated seawater-sediment-human-health assessments of toxicologically distinct trace elements remain scarce. In this study, arsenic (As), selenium (Se), tin (Sn) and mercury (Hg) were quantified in surface seawater (n = 38) and surficial sediments (n = 19) across six Egyptian ports (…

- Perfluorononanoic acid enhances non-small cell lung cancer progression through CD36-driven fatty acid metabolic reprogramming. [Journal Article]Food Chem Toxicol. 2026 Nov; 217:116304.FC
- Lung cancer ranks among the most prevalent and deadly malignant tumors globally, posing a significant threat to human health. Perfluorononanoic acid (PFNA), as an emerging persistent organic pollutant, has attracted widespread attention due to its extensive presence in the environment. However, the effect of PFNA on lung cancer development and its molecular mechanism have not been reported. This …

- Search for heavy resonances decaying into two Higgs bosons in the b b ¯ τ + τ - final state in proton-proton collisions at s = 13 Te V. [Journal Article]
- A search is presented for massive narrow-width resonances in the mass range of 1-4.5 Te V , decaying into pairs of Higgs bosons (HH). The search uses proton-proton collision data at a center-of-mass energy of 13 Te V collected with the CMS detector at the CERN LHC during 2016-2018, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 138 fb - 1 . The analysis targets final states where one Higgs boson de…

- [Characteristics of urinary organic acid metabolic profile and screening of key metabolic markers in patients with urolithiasis]. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Patients with urinary calculi present obvious disorders in urinary organic acid metabolism, which are mainly involved in energy and amino acid metabolic pathways and closely associated with the pathogenesis of urinary calculi. The five core metabolites (propionylglycine, 5-hydroxyindole-3-acetic acid, kynurenic acid, orotic acid and fumaric acid) can effectively distinguish calculi from non-calculi populations, and can serve as representative metabolic biomarkers to provide novel targets for subsequent mechanism exploration and targeted intervention.

- Coal Rank-Driven Macromolecular Reconstruction Regulating Nanopore Topology and CO2 Transport. [Journal Article]Langmuir. 2026 Aug 04; 42(30):22235-22250.L
- Structural evolution driven by coalification is an essential force regulating the development of nanopores in coal matrices and CO2 adsorption behavior. However, bridging the characterization gap from the atomic-scale skeleton to macroscopic pore heterogeneity and elucidating the driving mechanism by which structural evolution governs gas occurrence remain core challenges for gas-solid multiscale…

- Studying organochlorinated compounds in coastal sediments is necessary because these substances are persistent, bioaccumulative, toxic, and still detectable decades after their ban, whereas sediments act as long-term archives of pollution and as secondary sources that can remobilize contaminants into marine ecosystems. Herein, we provide for the first time a comprehensive overview of pollution le…

- [A Method for Respiratory Monitoring in Thermal Infrared Video Using Masked Autoencoder Pretraining]. [Journal Article]Sichuan Da Xue Xue Bao Yi Xue Ban. 2026 May 20; 57(3):845-852.SD
- CONCLUSIONS: The self-supervised pre-training waveform analysis method based on a masked autoencoder demonstrates advantages in both the frequency and time domains for respiratory monitoring. Additionally, morphological differences in the pulse signal during the respiratory phase were identified. The kurtosis of the photoplethysmography (PPG) signal significantly decreased, and the skewness was reduced during the exhalation phase. This finding offers a new perspective for evaluating cardiopulmonary coupling function and autonomic nerve regulation from the morphological feature dimension of PPG.
