  • A gut microbial odd-chain fatty acid alleviates atherosclerosis in mice. [Journal Article]

  • The gut microbiota plays a pivotal part in human health, yet the molecular mechanisms that underlie its effects are largely unexplored. Bacteroides, a dominant genus in the human gut microbiota, is depleted in patients with atherosclerosis[1], but its causal relationship with disease remains unclear. Here, using a mouse model, we show that administration of Bacteroides uniformis alleviates athero…
  • AA-Induced Lipid Peroxidation at the Center of Tumor Cell Apoptosis and Ferroptosis. [Review]
Rev Physiol Biochem Pharmacol. 2027; 188:265-282.Das UNRP
  • Polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs), especially gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), arachidonic acid (AA), eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), can block HMG-CoA reductase activity and thus decrease cholesterol synthesis/formation. Cholesterol has antioxidant actions and thus reduces the formation of ROS (reactive oxygen species). In contrast, PUFAs augment the generation of ROS. …
  • Deep learning perturbation models can outperform baselines on calibrated metrics. [Journal Article]
Nat Biotechnol. 2026 Oct 01. [Online ahead of print]Miller HE, Mejia GM, … de Lima Camillo LPNBio
  • Recent benchmarks report that deep-learning-based genetic perturbation models fail to outperform uninformative baselines. Here we introduce a positive control baseline and metric calibration framework, showing-across 14 datasets and 18 metrics-that common benchmarking metrics (for example, mean squared error and Pearson Δ) are frequently miscalibrated, with reduced sensitivity to measure positive…
  • Biochemical Characterization of Ribonuclease Activities From the Sea Cucumber Eupentacta fraudatrix. [Journal Article]
Front Biosci (Schol Ed). 2026 Jul 15; 18(3):48977.Soboleva SE, Ivaschenko VA, … Nevinsky GAFB
  • CONCLUSIONS: This work represents the first report describing the biochemical properties of a ribonuclease from this holothurian species. Five protein forms with ribonuclease activity, differing in electrophoretic mobility, were identified. The biochemical characteristics of these enzymes resemble those of ribonucleases from other echinoderms. Ribonucleases from echinoderms are promising tools for molecular biology applications, including DNA purification, RNA analysis and mapping, as well as for biomedicine, particularly in the development of antiviral agents.
