- Conversational AI increases political knowledge as effectively as self-directed internet search. [Journal Article]PNAS Nexus. 2026 Oct; 5(10):pgag305.PN
- Conversational AI systems are increasingly being used in place of traditional search engines to help users complete information-seeking tasks. This has raised concerns in the political domain, where biased or hallucinated outputs could misinform voters or distort public opinion. However, in spite of these concerns, the extent to which conversational AI is used for political information-seeking, a…

- Generative AI Needs a Pilot: Positioning Advanced Practice Nurses as the "Human-in-the-Loop" for Primary Care Safety. [Journal Article]JMA J. 2026 Sep 15; 9(5):1379-1383.JJ
- Generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) is increasingly integrated into primary care, supporting documentation, clinical summaries, and patient-facing communication. While its potential to reduce cognitive workload is widely recognized, GenAI introduces a safety paradox: as outputs become more fluent, inaccuracies such as hallucinations and omissions may become harder to detect. This creates a…

- Parkinson's disease-associated psychosis in a Brazilian sample: prevalence and clinical profile. [Journal Article]Arq Neuropsiquiatr. 2026 Aug; 84(8):1-9.AN
- CONCLUSIONS: In this Brazilian cohort, PDP had a prevalence of 24%. These findings reinforce that psychosis is a frequent non-motor manifestation of PD and highlight the importance of systematic clinical screening in routine care.

- Regulating the drafting fiction: A qualitative content analysis of official guidance and regulator documents on AI scribe adoption and use in healthcare. [Journal Article]PLOS Digit Health. 2026 Oct; 5(10):e0001776.PD
- Artificial intelligence scribes use automatic speech recognition and generative language models to document clinical consultations, but official expectations for safe adoption are scattered across privacy, professional, medical device, safety and health-system guidance. We conducted a qualitative content analysis of 74 unique English-language official documents issued by regulators, government bo…

- Adapting Falls Prevention Evidence for People with Charles Bonnet Syndrome Across Clinical and Community Settings. [Review]Clin Geriatr Med. 2026 Nov; 42(4):663-675.CG
- Charles Bonnet Syndrome (CBS) refers to visual hallucinations associated with a decline in vision. Historically, the functional effects of CBS have focused on its psychological impacts, but recent work has highlighted that CBS may also lead to physical outcomes by causing and increasing susceptibility to falls. As awareness of CBS among sight loss and falls prevention specialists is low, its role…

- Comparative Performance of Large Language Models in Urodynamic Trace Interpretation Using an Adapted Expert-Led Evaluation of Generative AI Competence and Excellence Framework. [Journal Article]Neurourol Urodyn. 2026 Oct 05. [Online ahead of print]NU
- CONCLUSIONS: Contemporary LLMs can generate structured interpretations of urodynamic traces, with meaningful performance differences across the evaluated platforms. While strengths in structure and terminology are evident, limitations in clinical reasoning persist. LLMs may serve as valuable assistive tools for standardisation and quality assurance in urodynamics but are not yet suitable for autonomous clinical decision-making.

- Large Language Model-Generated Patient Education Materials in Pediatric Ophthalmology: A Scoping Review. [Review]Clin Ophthalmol. 2026; 20:635998.CO
- Effective management of pediatric ophthalmic conditions such as myopia, amblyopia, and strabismus depend on caregivers understanding patient education materials (PEMs). However, many existing resources exceed recommended grade 8 reading levels. This review maps AI-generated PEMs in pediatric ophthalmology, summarizes reported outcomes across key educational domains, and identifies barriers and op…

- Toward Responsible and Privacy-Preserving Generation of Inpatient Clinical Discharge Notes Using Large Language Models. [Journal Article]
- Writing discharge notes (DNs) is a time-intensive task in inpatient care that contributes substantially to physician workload and burnout. Large language models (LLMs) offer potential opportunities to automate clinical documentation. However, concerns regarding accuracy, reliability, data privacy protection laws and data governance, and compliance with healthcare privacy remain. This study evalua…

- Large language models in healthcare: applications, evaluation frameworks, and governance pathways - a scoping review and multidimensional framework. [Systematic Review]
- CONCLUSIONS: Current evidence supports cautious deployment of LLMs in selected healthcare tasks under structured oversight. Translational progress depends on prospective evaluation, standardised reporting, equity-focused audits, and lifecycle governance with continuous monitoring. The proposed five-dimensional framework (technical performance, clinical validity, equity, workflow integration, governance) coupled with a three-tier risk model is intended to support researchers and healthcare organisations in assessing readiness and implementing LLM-enabled tools responsibly.

- Disseminated Nocardia otitidiscaviarum Presenting as Lung-Brain-Skin Syndrome in a Renal Transplant Recipient: A Case Report. [Case Reports]
- We present a case of disseminated Nocardia otitidiscaviarum infection in a 72-year-old male with a history of renal transplantation on chronic immunosuppressive therapy with prednisone, cyclosporine, and mycophenolate mofetil. He presented with pneumonia and was initially treated with ceftriaxone and azithromycin. Bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) and cultures from a biopsied thigh lesion both grew N.…
