- Investigating the effect of buprenorphine on pain in the acute phase of patients with mild traumatic brain injury: a double-blind clinical trial. [Journal Article]Neurol Res. 2026 Oct 06; :1-23. [Online ahead of print]NR
- CONCLUSIONS: Buprenorphine is an effective drug in the relief of pain among men with mild TBI. Nevertheless, the lack of generalization to women due to the exclusive selection of men, who make up most trauma patients (motorcyclists), and the fact that the research is done as a pilot study with a short follow-up period of two weeks, no neuropsychological tests conducted, and only one domain used to test cognitive function prevents us from drawing any conclusions on this matter.

- Background/Objectives: Digital self-triage tools may support patient-flow management in crowded emergency departments (EDs), but their agreement with established professional triage systems requires prospective validation. We evaluated the agreement and classification performance of a locally developed mobile self-triage application, structured according to Manchester Triage System (MTS)-related …

- Fast-dissolving cyclodextrin nanofibers loaded with acetylsalicylic acid, paracetamol and caffeine combination for the pain treatment. [Journal Article]Int J Pharm. 2026 Sep 05; 702:127211.IJ
- We developed a fast-dissolving nanofibrous film based on cyclodextrin (hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin) inclusion complexes (ICs) incorporating a triple drug combination of acetylsalicylic acid (Aspirin), paracetamol, and caffeine (APC). The combination of these three drugs constitutes a multimodal analgesic widely used for the treatment of acute pain conditions, such as headache and migraine. Herei…

- Elecoglipron, an oral small molecule GLP-1 receptor agonist in adults with obesity or overweight (VISTA): a multicentre, phase 2, randomised, placebo-controlled clinical trial. [Randomized Controlled Trial]
- Elecoglipron (AZD5004) is an oral small-molecule glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist administered once daily without food or fluid restriction, in development for weight management in people living with obesity or overweight and type 2 diabetes. We assessed the efficacy, safety, and tolerability of elecoglipron versus placebo in participants with obesity or overweight and at least on…

- Myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein (MOG) antibody-associated disorder (MOGAD) is a central nervous system demyelinating disease in children, frequently induced by infection. We report the case of a 9-year-10-month-old boy with a 13-day fever and headache. He was admitted to our hospital for fever of unknown origin. He was diagnosed with bronchopneumonia via chest X-ray and encephalitis via crani…

- [Migraine attack therapy: from new efficacy criteria to novel therapeutic formulations]. [Review]Zh Nevrol Psikhiatr Im S S Korsakova. 2026; 126(5):101-107.ZN
- Migraines represent one of the most prevalent and debilitating neurological disorders. In terms of quality-of-life impairment and the degree of disability incurred, severe migraine attacks align with the World Health Organization (WHO) level 7 disability, comparable to conditions such as tetraparesis, psychosis, and dementia. The severity of migraine attacks is influenced not only by the intensit…

- CONCLUSIONS: CVS is highly prevalent among medical students and significantly associated with modifiable risk factors, particularly prolonged screen time and poor screen ergonomics. Targeted interventions, including optimizing screen settings, limiting continuous use, and taking regular breaks, may reduce the symptom burden.

- Clinical Spectrum and Management of Hypervitaminosis A: A Systematic Review of Case-Based Evidence. [Systematic Review]Clin Chim Acta. 2026 Aug 15; 590:121117.CC
- CONCLUSIONS: Hypervitaminosis A, particularly arising from non-prescription supplement misuse, mimics various disorders and presents commonly with hypercalcemia and neurological dysfunction. It is a preventable condition requiring early recognition, prompt discontinuation of vitamin A intake, and appropriate symptomatic management. A thorough dietary and supplementation history is essential for timely diagnosis.

- Efficacy and safety of pilocarpine as a secretagogue versus artificial tears in the management of dry eye disease. [Journal Article]Med Hypothesis Discov Innov Ophthalmol. 2026; 15(1):1-9.MH
- CONCLUSIONS: Both pilocarpine and AT produced significant improvements in DED symptoms and objective clinical parameters. However, AT demonstrated superior efficacy in enhancing tear film stability and reducing symptom scores, with a better safety profile. Pilocarpine may still have a role in severe or refractory cases requiring enhanced tear secretion but should be prescribed cautiously due to its systemic cholinergic adverse events.
