  • Epidemiology and clinical features of Hymenoptera stings in East Azerbaijan, northwestern Iran. [Journal Article]
    PLoS One. 2026; 21(7):e0353652.Rezaei H, Babapour A, … Abbasi MPlos
  • CONCLUSIONS: Hymenoptera stings in northwestern Iran are shaped by a complex interplay of ecological, occupational, and socio-cultural factors. The distinct anatomical sting patterns may be influenced by regional dress codes and gender-specific activities, suggest that preventive strategies should address both domestic and occupational exposure settings. Public health interventions should focus on habitat management in residential areas, awareness among households, and protective clothing for outdoor workers to reduce the burden of envenomation.
  • Hymenoptera allergy, difficulties in differential diagnosis: a case report. [Case Reports]
Rev Alerg Mex. 2026 Jun 30; 73(2):e201-e205.Laiseca García J, Pretre G, … Barrios Albajar MRA
  • CONCLUSIONS: This case underscores the need for a comprehensive allergologic workup to accurately identify the implicated species and guide appropriate venom immunotherapy, as patient-reported visual recognition of the stinging insect may be unreliable.
  • [Secondary panuveitis after ocular wasp sting: a case report]. [Case Reports]
Zhonghua Yan Ke Za Zhi. 2026 Jul 11; 62(7):537-540.Li SN, Liu DJZY
  • A 54-year-old male patient presented for medical attention with right eyelid swelling and visual loss for half a month following a wasp sting to his right eye. His chief complaints included visual loss in the right eye, accompanied by ocular redness, pain, and lacrimation. Ophthalmic examinations revealed severe visual impairment, eyelid edema, and conjunctival hyperemia in the right eye. The cor…
  • Characterization of entomological drivers of malaria transmission in five villages, Keerom Regency, Papua, Indonesia. [Journal Article]
PLoS One. 2026; 21(6):e0339951.Rozi IE, Syahrani L, … Syafruddin DPlos
  • CONCLUSIONS: Members of the An. punctulatus group were abundant across all study villages, with An. koliensis and An. punctulatus being the primary species. Vector incrimination confirmed active malaria transmission. These vectors demonstrated opportunistic feeding behavior, primarily on humans but also on dogs, which may offer an avenue for targeted interventions. Multiple gaps in personal and household protection were identified, both indoors and outdoors. Strengthening indoor protection through increased ITN use, installation of house screens, and evaluation of complementary tools such as spatial repellents may reduce indoor transmission. Community-led larval source management in and around households may help reduce outdoor transmission.
  • [Fire dragon cupping for insect bite dermatitis: a case report]. [Case Reports]
    Zhongguo Zhen Jiu. 2026 Jun 12; 46(6):1008-1010.Ji S, Tan X, … Zhao CZZ
  • This paper reports a case of insect bite dermatitis treated with fire dragon cupping. The patient presented with patchy circular erythema on the lateral aspects of both lower extremities, predominantly from the lateral aspect of the right thigh to the buttock. Slight desquamation was observed at the center of the local erythema, accompanied by swelling, induration, tenderness, increased skin tempe…
  • Dermatofibroma Associated with Lymphoid Follicles Harboring Germinal Center: A Case Report. [Case Reports]

  • CONCLUSIONS: Given that GC-associating LF in the present case is presumed to manifest Th27/Th2 microenvironment formation, the implication is that it plays a role in humoral immunity against extracellular pathogens. When miscellaneous pathogens bearing fucose-containing carbohydrate antigens happened to invade the dermis through minor injuries, DC-SIGN, a pattern recognition receptor, and TLR4 on macrophages may have modulated Th differentiation into Th27/Th2 to generate follicular helper T cells and GC to induce humoral immunity. Accumulation of reports is required to check the validity of this speculation.
  • Analysis of the human health threat caused by the red imported fire ant in mainland China. [Journal Article]
    PLoS One. 2026; 21(6):e0350501.Chen H, Zhuang H, … Wang LPlos
  • In China, the spread of the red imported fire ant (Solenopsis invicta Buren, RIFA) exhibits a consistent pattern of expansion from the south to the north, with decreasing severity toward northern regions. The rapid spread of RIFA poses a substantial public health threat in China, particularly in regions where this invasive species has become established. To evaluate the health risks associated wi…
  • Effectiveness of mosquito repellents for human: A systematic review of human-based studies. [Systematic Review]
Acta Trop. 2026 Aug; 280:108182.Faridah L, Nurhakim RA, … Carvajal TAT
  • Mosquito repellents are personal protection tools against mosquito-borne diseases, but their effectiveness varies across active ingredients, formulations, and mosquito species. This systematic review followed PRISMA 2020 guidance to summarize human studies published between 2015 and 2025 that evaluated mosquito repellents delivered as topical application, wearable devices, spatial products, or tr…
