- Oral Microcapsule Chromocolonoscopy With Patent Blue V Improves Adenoma Detection Safely and Effectively. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: The novel PBM demonstrated uniform mucosal staining when utilized in chromocolonoscopy. Delayed-release patent blue V appears to be a safe and effective alternative to dye-spray techniques and existing oral chromoendoscopy modalities.

- Efficacy and safety of a new low-volume PEG with citrate and simethicone bowel preparation for pediatric elective colonoscopy: Phase 3 RCT. [Journal Article]
- Background and study aims Currently available polyethylene glycol (PEG)-based preparations continue to represent a challenge in children. The aim of this study was to compare the efficacy and safety of a new low-volume PEG preparation with a conventional PEG-electrolyte solution (PEG-ES) in children and adolescents. Patients and methods This was a multicenter, randomized, observer-blind, parallel…

- Noninferiority clinical trial comparing the bowel cleansing efficacy of sodium phosphate tablets (Quiklean[®]) with a polyethylene glycol/bisacodyl kit. [Randomized Controlled Trial]
- CONCLUSIONS: Quiklean[®] is sodium phosphate tablets available on Taiwan's market for bowel preparation; it potentially offers patients an alternative to standard large-volume bowel preparation regimens and may, therefore, increase positive attitudes toward colonoscopies and participation rates.

- A Randomized Trial Comparing the Bowel Cleansing Efficacy of Sodium Picosulfate/Magnesium Citrate and Polyethylene Glycol/Bisacodyl (The Bowklean Study). [Randomized Controlled Trial]
- Bowel cleansing is essential for a successful colonoscopy, but the ideal clearing agent and the volume have yet to be determined. A small-volume cleanser is important for patient compliance. This study aimed to compare the bowel cleansing efficacy, safety, tolerability, and acceptability of a 300-mL small-volume sodium picosulfate/magnesium citrate (PSMC) preparation-Bowklean with one 2-L polyeth…

- Nutritional deficiency during colonoscopy preparation: the forgotten iatrogeny. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: nutritional deficiency during colonoscopy preparation was significant, more so in older patients, and there was no correlation with the quality of bowel preparation. We conclude that bowel preparation regimens should be reformulated with an improved nutritional intake and the inclusion of nutritional supplements without residues.

- Dermatomyositis as a paraneoplastic phenomenon in ovarian cancer. [Case Reports]
- A 60-year-old woman diagnosed with papillary serous ovarian cancer had Klean-Prep and MRI contrast preoperatively. Afterwards, she developed swelling and an urticarial rash around her eye as she proceeded to have planned debulking surgery. Postoperatively the swelling and rash had spread over her face, neck, back and chest. Dermatology advised a possible allergy to Klean-Prep and MRI contrast. Su…

- Effect of Bowel Cleansing on Colonic Transit Time Measurement in Children with Chronic Constipation. [Journal Article]
- We evaluated the effect of bowel preparation on colonic transit time (CTT) measured by the radio-opaque marker test in children with constipation. All children underwent 2 radio-opaque marker-CTT tests, both in cleansed and uncleansed bowel state. Our findings confirm that the state of colonic fecal filling may significantly influence CTT.

- Peri-operative management in urinary diversion surgery: A time for change? [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: The majority of Irish urologists use bowel preparation prior to ileal conduit formation. Substantial recent evidence has emerged showing no difference in infective complications or anastomotic leakage when bowel preparation was not used. National guidelines would be beneficial regarding the use of bowel preparation, antibiotic prophylaxis and ERP for urinary diversion surgery.

- Empty colon: a pitfall in the assessment of colonic transit time. [Case Reports]
- We report a misleading outcome of colonic transit time (CTT) assessment in an adolescent girl with functional constipation. We found prolonged total and right segmental CTT despite high doses of oral polyethylene glycol 4000 and repeated treatment with polyethylene glycol-electrolyte solution (Klean-Prep®) by nasogastric tube. A colonoscopy aiming at disimpaction of a possible faecal mass reveale…

- Preparation before colonoscopy: a randomized controlled trial comparing different regimes. [Randomized Controlled Trial]
- CONCLUSIONS: 2-l PEG+ascorbic acid was noninferior to the 4-l PEG solution in bowel cleansing quality and was better in taste and compliance. NaP was inferior to 4-l PEG in bowel cleansing quality. Addition of simethicone gave no improvement.
