- Early multimodal vasopressor strategy in septic shock: results of the TRICYCLE randomized controlled trial. [Randomized Controlled Trial]Crit Care. 2026 Sep 07; 30(1).CC
- CONCLUSIONS: Early multimodal vasopressor therapy with Ang II, vasopressin and norepinephrine in patients with septic shock demonstrated promising physiological effects. These findings provide a rationale for a larger trial to assess whether early multimodal vasopressor therapy improves patient-centered outcomes.

- Chronic manganese exposure disrupts dopamine biosynthesis and amphetamine response in a mouse model of altered dopamine transport. [Journal Article]Neurotoxicology. 2026 Oct 02; :103584. [Online ahead of print]N
- The capacity for excess manganese to alter dopaminergic systems resulting in neurobehavioral deficits is clear, yet far less is known the impact of chronic, lower, sub-toxic manganese exposures. Manganese exposure may affect dopamine synthesis and metabolism, and as such impact drug efficacy. These may also occur to a greater extent in populations with genetic variants that render them more vulne…

- Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy in Septic Shock: A First-in-Human Pilot Trial. [Clinical Trial, Phase I]Undersea Hyperb Med. 2026; 53(3):511-522.UH
- Septic shock, a severe, life-threatening infection resulting in organ failure, has seen no successful, novel therapies emerge in the past two decades. In addition to hypoperfusion and inflammation, organ dysfunction in septic shock is caused by microvascular, mitochondrial, and immune dysfunction. Animal studies support the use of hyperbaric oxygen treatment to improve mitochondrial function and …
- A DIAMETER AND HEMODYNAMIC REGULATION MODEL UTILIZING AN ARTERIOLAR NETWORK STRUCTURAL MODEL AND EXPERIMENT-BASED MACHINE LEARNING. [Journal Article]Function (Oxf). 2026 Oct 01; :e0452026. [Online ahead of print]F
- Arteriolar regulation is central to maintaining adequate tissue perfusion, and its disruption can lead to adverse health outcomes. However, mechanisms governing vessel responses to complex environmental conditions within a network context remain uncertain. This study presents computational simulations of arteriolar network responses to various combinations and intensities of five physiologically …

- Left Stellate Ganglion Pulsed Radiofrequency Suppresses Ischemic Ventricular Arrhythmias: A Translational Study. [Journal Article]JACC Clin Electrophysiol. 2026 Sep 18. [Online ahead of print]JC
- CONCLUSIONS: LSG-PRF is a minimally invasive neuromodulatory strategy associated with suppression of sympathetic hyperactivity and post-MI VAs, accompanied by attenuated ganglionic inflammation and modulated cardiac neuro-immune signaling. Preliminary clinical experience supports feasibility and warrants prospective trials.

- Chronic stress-induced LC-NE dysfunction: cellular and axonal mechanisms underlying impaired neuromodulation. [Review]
- The locus coeruleus-noradrenergic (LC-NE) system is a central neuromodulatory network involved in regulation of arousal, attention, and adaptive behavioral function. Chronic stress has been associated with altered LC activity, including shifts in tonic-phasic regulation, yet the direction, magnitude, and persistence of these alterations appear to depend on stress paradigm, duration, and context, …

- Interpretable machine learning models using early dynamic clinical features to predict early hemodynamic stabilization after vasopressor initiation in patients with septic shock: development in MIMIC-IV and external validation in eICU. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Early dynamic clinical features provided moderate discrimination for predicting hemodynamic stabilization after vasopressor initiation, with similar external performance. The model should be interpreted as a structured risk-stratification tool rather than a measure of pharmacological vasopressor responsiveness. Prospective validation is required before clinical implementation.

- The Spatiotemporal Coupling Imbalance of Senescent Grey Hair: Remodelling of the HFSC-MeSC-Niche Network and a New Paradigm of Stem Cell Senescence. [Review]Exp Dermatol. 2026 Oct; 35(10):e70365.ED
- This review examines age-related hair greying as a potential imbalance in the HFSC-MeSC-niche network in terms of time, space and signal quality. We define signal quality as the effective strength, temporal precision and noise-to-threshold relationship of niche-derived cues that regulate MeSC activation. We propose that ageing may progressively weaken the temporal coordination between HFSC activa…

- CONCLUSIONS: CKD enhances cerebrovascular contractile responses to vasoconstrictors, and this effect is mediated by activation of the FGF2 pathway. Targeting the FGF2 pathway may provide treatment of cerebrovascular dysfunction in CKD.

- Changes in segmental arterial stiffness and volume dynamics across the arterial tree during noradrenaline administration in rabbits. [Journal Article]Hypertens Res. 2026 Sep 30. [Online ahead of print]HR
- Vascular function depends on arterial stiffness and volume dynamics; however, segmental differences remain unclear. Segmental arterial stiffness can be assessed using a cardio-ankle vascular index (CAVI)-based stiffness parameter (segmental-β), and volume changes can be estimated using intravascular ultrasound (IVUS). In this study, segmental-β and arterial caliber changes in the aorta and iliofe…

- A two-hit mechanism triggers autoimmune hair loss. [Journal Article]Nature. 2026 Sep 30. [Online ahead of print]Nat
- Autoimmune diseases arise from a breakdown of immune tolerance, yet the mechanisms that initiate tissue-specific autoimmunity remain poorly understood[1-4]. Here we identify a two-hit mechanism in which immune dysregulation and physiological neural activation converge to trigger autoimmune alopecia. We show that transient depletion of regulatory T (Treg) cells during the anagen phase of the hair …

- We here report the discovery of a series of fluoro-substituted 3-phenoxy-azetidines useful for modulating levels of monoamines in cerebral cortical areas of the brain. The compounds were characterized by in vivo studies using, in particular, behavioural, and microdialysis methods. Furthermore, the compounds were tested in binding assays for the human serotonin (5-HT), noradrenaline (NA), and dopa…

- Rats emit 50-kHz ultrasonic vocalizations (USVs), a widely used measure of drug-induced motivational and affective effects and dopaminergic activity. Although psychedelic drugs are promising for addiction treatment, the effects of ayahuasca (AYA) on 50-kHz ultrasonic vocalizations (USVs) remain unclear. We investigated whether acute AYA treatment attenuates lisdexamfetamine (LDX)-induced USVs, hy…

- Influence of Intravenous Norepinephrine Administration on Melatonin Plasma Concentration in Awake and Anaesthetised Healthy Adult Volunteers. [Journal Article]J Pineal Res. 2026 Nov; 78(6):e70188.JP
- Melatonin (MEL) is an endogenous hormone that regulates circadian rhythm, immune function and oxidative stress responses. Norepinephrine (NE), an endogenous catecholamine, increases blood pressure through the sympathetic nervous system and is commonly administered intraoperatively or in the clinically ill patient for hemodynamic support. Although endogenous NE is known to stimulate MEL synthesis,…
