- Clinical and Metabolic Associations of Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatotic Liver Disease in Young Adults: A Cross-Sectional Analysis. [Journal Article]Cureus. 2026 Aug; 18(8):e115439.C
- CONCLUSIONS: MASLD was highly prevalent among apparently healthy young adults and was significantly associated with increased adiposity, adverse lipid profiles, elevated liver enzymes, and greater hepatic steatosis and fibrosis. These findings demonstrate significant associations between MASLD and adverse anthropometric, lipid, biochemical, and non-invasive hepatic parameters in this young adult cohort. Prospective multicentre studies are warranted to determine the temporal and clinical significance of these associations.

- Cholecystocolonic Fistula With Acute Cholangitis: A Case Report. [Case Reports]Cureus. 2026 Aug; 18(8):e115423.C
- Cholecystocolonic fistula (CCF) is a rare type of cholecystoenteric fistula, which are sometimes diagnosed incidentally in patients undergoing cholecystectomy. They are usually a complication of chronic cholecystitis, often secondary to gallstones, and they are difficult to diagnose due to their rarity and vague clinical presentation. If untreated, they can lead to complications such as acute cho…

- Early prediction of severe morbidity after liver resection using serum albumin and ALBI-score in a mixed patient cohort. [Journal Article]BMC Surg. 2026 Sep 29; 26(1).BS
- CONCLUSIONS: ALBI on POD1 independently predicted severe morbidity after LR and may provide a simple tool for early postoperative risk stratification based on routine laboratory data. External validation is required before routine implementation.

- Optimal timing of liver stiffness assessment in methotrexate-treated rheumatoid arthritis patients. [Journal Article]Z Rheumatol. 2026 Sep 29. [Online ahead of print]ZR
- CONCLUSIONS: A cumulative MTX dose of approximately 3 g represents a practical screening threshold for initiating liver fibrosis evaluation in RA patients. Transient elastography is superior to the FIB‑4 index for this purpose. Screening should be individualized based on metabolic risk factors, and elevated liver stiffness should prompt etiological investigation rather than automatic MTX discontinuation. Prospective studies are needed to validate these findings and assess long-term outcomes.

- Occupational benzene exposure and worker health outcomes: a cross-sectional study in Nanning, China. [Journal Article]Int J Occup Saf Ergon. 2026 Sep 29; :1-9. [Online ahead of print]IJ
- Objectives. This study assessed the health effects of occupational benzene exposure to inform preventive strategies. Methods. Occupational health surveillance data for benzene-exposed workers in Nanning (2020-2024) were obtained from the China Occupational Disease and Health Hazard Factors Monitoring Information System. Demographic, occupational and physical examination data were analyzed using χ…

- Short-course prophylaxis with the Toronto HCV protocol for recipients of non-liver solid organ transplants from donors with hepatitis C viraemia: a retrospective, matched cohort study. [Journal Article]Lancet Gastroenterol Hepatol. 2026 Sep 29. [Online ahead of print]LG
- CONCLUSIONS: The Toronto HCV protocol prevented or rapidly cleared HCV infection in D+R- recipients of non-liver solid organ transplants, with no difference in overall survival versus matched D-R- controls. This short-course approach offers a practical, lower cost alternative to standard post-transplantation antiviral regimens and supports routine use of organs from donors with HCV viraemia.

- Association Between EBV Lytic Replication and Liver Injury in Patients With HBeAg-Negative Chronic HBV Infection. [Journal Article]J Med Virol. 2026 Oct; 98(10):e71071.JM
- The present study aims to characterize the impact of Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) lytic replication on liver disease in patients with chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection. We retrospectively enrolled 261 patients with HBeAg-negative chronic HBV infection who were admitted to Zhongnan Hospital between 2019 and 2025. Plasma levels of HBV-DNA, EBV-DNA, and liver function parameters were collected. …

- Novel hepatic function-based prognostic prediction model for pulmonary arterial hypertension. [Journal Article]Ther Adv Respir Dis. 2026 Jan-Dec; 20:17534666261493712.TA
- BackgroundHepatic dysfunction is increasingly recognized as a contributor to adverse outcomes in patients with pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). However, current prognostic models for PAH do not incorporate hepatic function parameters.ObjectivesTo develop and validate a novel risk prediction model that integrates hepatic function indicators with established PAH severity markers, and to compa…

- Pre-eclampsia is a pregnancy complication that involves the development of high blood pressure in a pregnant woman and other features such as protein in the woman's urine, kidney or liver problems, or poorer growth for the baby. It can also have long-term health impacts for the mother after pregnancy. Pre-eclampsia typically occurs after 20 completed weeks of pregnancy (either mid-pregnancy known…

- Comparison of Remimazolam and Propofol for Anesthesia Management in Liver Cancer Patients Undergoing Percutaneous Radiofrequency Ablation: A Randomized Controlled Trial. [Randomized Controlled Trial]
- CONCLUSIONS: Remimazolam with remifentanil provided better hemodynamic stability and respiratory safety than propofol in PRFA for liver cancer (Child-Pugh A/B, without severe comorbidities). The shorter recovery time, though partly confounded by flumazenil, supports remimazolam as a promising alternative. Further studies in higher-risk patients are needed.
