  • Thyroid-Liver Axis: Mechanistic Insights and Clinical Implications. [Review]
    Cureus. 2026 Jun; 18(6):e110637.Parveen N, Chittawar S, … Aggarwal SC
  • The thyroid gland and liver share a complex bidirectional relationship that is fundamental to metabolic regulation and hormonal homeostasis. Thyroid hormones (THs) regulate hepatic lipid handling, glucose metabolism, mitochondrial function, and energy balance, while the liver governs TH transport, activation, metabolism, and clearance. Increasing evidence links thyroid dysfunction with metabolic …
  • Acute portal vein thrombosis postimage-guided liver biopsy in common variable immunodeficiency. [Case Reports]
Radiol Case Rep. 2026 Oct; 21(10):4292-4298.Morar SK, Morar KNRC
  • Portal vein thrombosis (PVT) is a rare complication following percutaneous liver biopsy, with an incidence below 0.4% in large multicenter series. We report a 51-year-old male with common variable immunodeficiency (CVID), chronic liver enzyme elevation, and preoperative imaging consistent with cirrhotic morphology, who developed acute abdominal pain within minutes of ultrasound-guided liver biops…
  • A female manifesting carrier of DMD with exon 45 deletion: a case report. [Case Reports]
Transl Pediatr. 2026 Jun 30; 15(6):256.Jiang QH, Cen YHTP
  • CONCLUSIONS: For pediatric cases featuring unexplained hypertransaminasemia combined with high CK values, clinicians should stay highly alert to the possibility of DMD. Dynamic serial CK monitoring and full-scale genetic analysis should be arranged without delay to achieve early diagnosis and timely intervention, which can effectively optimize long-term prognosis for affected children.
  • Hyperammonaemic encephalopathy presenting as a stroke mimic with normal liver function tests. [Case Reports]
    BMJ Case Rep. 2026 Jul 10; 19(7).Nye C, Francis A, … Rice CMBC
  • Hyperammonaemia is a potentially reversible cause of encephalopathy that can mimic focal neurological syndromes. A man in his 60s presented with light-headedness, vomiting and abdominal pain. He developed acute aphasia and right-sided weakness within 24 hours, and although serial CT brain imaging and CT angiography were normal, conscious level deteriorated rapidly, such that he required intubatio…
  • Transformation Discriminant Analysis for Constructing Optimal Biomarker Combinations. [Journal Article]
Stat Med. 2026 Jul; 45(15-17):e70665.Sewak A, Siegfried S, Hothorn TSM
  • Accurate diagnostic tests are essential for effective screening and treatment. However, individual biomarkers often fail to provide sufficient diagnostic accuracy, as they typically capture only one aspect of the complex disease process. Combining multiple biomarkers, each capturing a distinct mechanism, can help construct more informative diagnostic tests. In practice, logistic regression is use…
  • Spontaneous ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome in early singleton pregnancy with hepatic involvement: two case reports of atypical presentations. [Case Reports]
Front Reprod Health. 2026; 8:1872608.Nuñez Burbano MJ, Escobar SA, … Campo JLFR
  • CONCLUSIONS: These cases highlight that spontaneous OHSS should be considered in pregnant patients presenting with abdominal symptoms, ovarian enlargement, and abnormal liver function tests, even in the absence of assisted reproduction. The relationship between spontaneous OHSS and hepatic abnormalities remains incompletely understood, particularly in the presence of concomitant biliary disease. Further studies are needed to better characterize the hepatic manifestations, epidemiology, and underlying genetic mechanisms of this condition.
