- Association of left ventricular global longitudinal strain with outcomes of severe mitral regurgitation due to severe mitral annular calcification: a retrospective cohort study. [Journal Article]Cardiovasc Diagn Ther. 2026 Aug 31; 16(4):68.CD
- CONCLUSIONS: In severe MR due to MAC, impaired LVGLS was associated with increased short-term but not long-term mortality. The limited long-term prognostic value may reflect the low myocardial reserve in patients with severe valvular dysfunction due to MAC, the progressive and systemic nature of the disease, and the influence of non-cardiac comorbidities.

- Usefulness of the C-reactive Protein Level as a Substitute for the Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate when Calculating the BACES Score of Patients with Mycobacterium Avium Complex Pulmonary Disease. [Journal Article]Intern Med. 2026 Sep 08. [Online ahead of print]IM
- Objective The BACES score is calculated based on the body mass index, age, presence of cavity, erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), and sex, and it is used to predict the overall and respiratory-related mortality risks in patients with nontuberculous mycobacterial pulmonary disease. ESR and C-reactive protein (CRP) levels are commonly used to assess inflammation. In this study, we aimed to evalu…

- ANCA testing strategies: A single centre experience over the past decade in a large teaching hospital in the Netherlands. [Journal Article]PLoS One. 2026; 21(9):e0357495.Plos
- CONCLUSIONS: The majority of ANCA-positive patients did not have AAV. In our secondary care setting, ELISA performs best as first test to rule out and to rule in AAV. A second test should be considered with high clinical suspicion and a negative first test, or with low antibody concentrations, following the consensus. Additionally, we propose a second test when there is clinical doubt and a positive first test. This increases specificity and PPV, reducing false positives, which is especially relevant in secondary care settings.

- Immediate Treatment Versus Watchful Waiting in Mycobacterium avium Complex Pulmonary Disease: A Propensity Score Matched Analysis. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Immediate treatment accelerates culture conversion but increases AEs without improving overall survival, supporting watchful waiting for mild cases. However, patients with a BACES score ≥ 2 derive significant survival benefit from immediate therapy, suggesting the BACES score is an effective tool for guiding treatment timing. Regardless of the initial treatment decision, close and regular monitoring remains essential, as some patients will ultimately require treatment.

- Prognostic significance of lymphovascular invasion in colorectal mucinous adenocarcinoma after curative resection: a nationwide multi-center retrospective cohort study. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: In patients with MAC after curative resection, LVI was associated with more advanced pathological features and independently predicted poorer OS and DFS. Routine assessment of LVI may improve postoperative risk stratification and help identify patients who require closer surveillance.

- [Estradiol-ERβ signaling axis promotes myofiber repair in female mice with acute skeletal muscle inflammation by regulating IGF-1 expression from M2 macrophages]. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Estradiol-ERβ signaling axis promotes the infiltration of M2 macrophages into injured skeletal muscle and enhances their expression of IGF-1 in female mice, thereby alleviating inflammation and promoting myofiber regeneration and repair.

- Ten-year recurrence-free survival in stage IV perforated appendiceal mucinous adenocarcinoma with high-risk features: a case report. [Case Reports]
- CONCLUSIONS: Long-term RFS may be achievable in carefully selected patients with stage IV appendiceal MAC and PMP, even without CRS/HIPEC. This case does not challenge CRS/HIPEC as the standard strategy for PMP but supports individualized multidisciplinary decision-making when CRS/HIPEC is not feasible or not selected.

- A Hybrid 2D-3D RGB-D Method for Growth Axis Estimation and Robotic Grasp Pose Generation of Phalaenopsis Orchid Buds. [Journal Article]
- This article presents a reproducible hybrid 2D-3D RGB-D method for estimating the growth axis of Phalaenopsis orchid buds and converting it into a robotic grasp pose. Synchronized RGB images and depth maps are used as input. Instance segmentation first isolates individual buds, and the resulting masks are used for 2D skeleton extraction and mask-constrained 3D point cloud reconstruction. After po…

- Gut microbiota-derived imidazole propionate promotes primary sclerosing cholangitis via p38 signalling. [Journal Article]
- Primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC) is a chronic inflammatory disease of the bile ducts that can lead to biliary cancer and end-stage liver disease. PSC is associated with inflammatory bowel disease and an altered gut microbiota. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying gut-liver interactions in PSC remain poorly characterized. Here we show that the gut microbiota-derived metabolite imidazol…

- Conditioning Intensity and Outcomes in Pediatric HLA-Identical Transplant for Sickle Cell Disease: Comparison of MAC, RIC, and NMA. [Journal Article]Transplant Cell Ther. 2026 Sep 04. [Online ahead of print]TC
- CONCLUSIONS: NMA conditioning with alemtuzumab and low-dose TBI substantially reduces toxicity compared with MAC and RIC. Although some patients require second HCT to improve donor engraftment, overall outcomes support this NMA approach as an option for children and adolescents with SCD.

- Bovine mastitis causes significant economic losses in the dairy industry, with excessive inflammation and pyroptosis in its pathogenesis. Honokiol (HKL), a natural compound that may regulate mitochondrial deacetylase Sirtuin 3 (SIRT3)-related signaling, possesses anti-inflammatory properties. This study aimed to investigate whether HKL exerts therapeutic efficacy against lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-…
