- Establishing an efficacy hierarchy for breakthrough cancer pain management: a network meta-analysis of rapid-onset fentanyl formulations and morphine. [Journal Article]BMC Med. 2026 Jul 08. [Online ahead of print]BM
- CONCLUSIONS: This analysis provides evidence for a relative efficacy hierarchy among rapid-onset opioids for BTP. INFS demonstrated the most rapid and sustained analgesia across all evaluated time points, while FBT consistently ranked second. The delayed onset of MSIR warrants consideration when selecting agents for rapid pain relief. Treatment selection should integrate these efficacy data with safety profiles, route feasibility, and patient-specific factors.

- Changes in heroin-related ambulance attendances following the introduction of a medically supervised injecting room in Victoria, Australia. [Journal Article]Int J Drug Policy. 2026 Sep; 155:105405.IJ
- CONCLUSIONS: The introduction of the MSIR in Richmond was associated with a sustained reduction in heroin-related ambulance attendances within its catchment area. These findings provide strong population-level evidence that SIFs reduce acute heroin-related harms requiring emergency ambulance response, reinforcing their role as an effective harm reduction strategy within the Australian context.

- Initiation, cessation and resumption of attendance at the Melbourne supervised injecting room among a cohort of people who inject drugs. [Journal Article]Int J Drug Policy. 2026 Mar; 149:105150.IJ
- CONCLUSIONS: We found high MSIR service uptake, relative to cessation. Attendance was higher among men, Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people, and those recently homeless, with frequent attenders injecting more often and those on OAT less likely to attend frequently.

- Complex trauma and perceived barriers to treatment among people accessing a supervised injecting facility. [Journal Article]
- Introduction: People who inject drugs (PWID) have an elevated risk of trauma exposure, which can adversely affect health outcomes and create barriers to engaging with services. While high rates of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) among PWID have been well-documented, less is known about the prevalence of complex PTSD (C-PTSD) in this cohort, or how symptom severity might relate to perceived …

- Multispectral Snapshot Image Registration Using Learned Cross Spectral Disparity Estimation and a Deep Guided Occlusion Reconstruction Network. [Journal Article]IEEE Trans Image Process. 2025; 34:2338-2350.IT
- Multispectral imaging aims at recording images in different spectral bands. This is extremely beneficial in diverse discrimination applications, for example in agriculture, recycling or healthcare. One approach for snapshot multispectral imaging, which is capable of recording multispectral videos, is by using camera arrays, where each camera records a different spectral band. Since the cameras ar…

- Supervised Injecting Room Cohort Study (SIRX): study protocol. [Journal Article]
- Supervised injecting facilities (SIFs) are designed to reduce the harms associated with injecting drug use and improve access to health and support services for people who need them. The Supervised Injecting Room Cohort Study (SIRX) aims to provide evidence of the effects, including cost-effectiveness, of a SIF embedded within a community health service, the Melbourne Medically Supervised Injecti…

- Risk of developing glioblastoma following non-CNS primary cancer: a SEER analysis between 2000 and 2018. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Patients with a history of prior non-CNS malignancy are at an overall increased risk of developing SPGBM relative to the incidence of developing GBM in the general population. However, the incidence of SPGBM after prior non-CNS malignancy varies by primary tumor location, with some non-CNS malignancies demonstrating either increased or decreased predisposition for SPGBM depending on tumor origin. These findings merit future investigation into whether these relationships represent treatment effects or a previously unknown shared predisposition for glioblastoma and non-CNS malignancy.

- Voices represented and voices silenced: Represented voices in the media coverage of the implementation of a supervised injecting facility. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Despite people who inject drugs being the population the MSIR is designed to benefit, their experiences and voices were lacking, highlighting social power structures, denying the silenced power, and obstructing social change. Overdose rates were consistently presented as numbers, negating personal experiences and lacking meaningful debate. Further, negative discourse referring to people who inject drugs may have implications regarding internalised and externalised stigma and drug policy.

- Microbial Catabolic Activity: Methods, Pertinence, and Potential Interest for Improving Microbial Inoculant Efficiency. [Review]
- Microbial catabolic activity (MCA) defined as the degrading activity of microorganisms toward various organic compounds for their growth and energy is commonly used to assess soil microbial function potential. For its measure, several methods are available including multi-substrate-induced respiration (MSIR) measurement which allow to estimate functional diversity using selected carbon substrates…

- Deep Factor Learning for Accurate Brain Neuroimaging Data Analysis on Discrimination for Structural MRI and Functional MRI. [Journal Article]
- Analysis of neuroimaging data (e.g., Magnetic Resonance Imaging, structural and functional MRI) plays an important role in monitoring brain dynamics and probing brain structures. Neuroimaging data are multi-featured and non-linear by nature, and it is a natural way to organise these data as tensors prior to performing automated analyses such as discrimination of neurological disorders like Parkin…

- MSIr: Automatic Registration Service for Mass Spectrometry Imaging and Histology. [Journal Article]
- Mass spectrometry imaging (MSI) is a powerful tool that can be used to simultaneously investigate the spatial distribution of different molecules in samples. However, it is difficult to comprehensively analyze complex biological systems with only a single analytical technique due to different analytical properties and application limitations. Therefore, many analytical methods have been combined …

- Dual-Stage Deeply Supervised Attention-Based Convolutional Neural Networks for Mandibular Canal Segmentation in CBCT Scans. [Journal Article]
- Accurate segmentation of mandibular canals in lower jaws is important in dental implantology. Medical experts manually determine the implant position and dimensions from 3D CT images to avoid damaging the mandibular nerve inside the canal. In this paper, we propose a novel dual-stage deep learning-based scheme for the automatic segmentation of the mandibular canal. In particular, we first enhance…
