- Occult gram-negative bacterial colonization of explanted alloplastic implants incidentally detected during revision rhinoplasty: a microbiologically confirmed case report. [Case Reports]Int J Surg Case Rep. 2026 Oct; 138(10):4456-4461.IJ
- CONCLUSIONS: Latent bacterial colonization of previously implanted materials in revision rhinoplasty may be under-recognized. Routine microbiological evaluation of explanted materials may facilitate early detection and guide postoperative management.

- Recurrent Invasive Staphylococcus aureus Infections in a Non-Neutropenic Hemodialysis Patient With Myelodysplastic Syndrome: A Case Report. [Journal Article]Case Rep Nephrol. 2026; 2026:1023646.CR
- CONCLUSIONS: This case illustrates recurrent invasive MSSA infections in a non-neutropenic HD patient with possibly therapy-related MDS. HD-related factors should be carefully evaluated as common causes of recurrent S. aureus infection, and MDS may represent an additional, unproven host factor. MDS should be considered in ESA-resistant anemia in HD patients, particularly in those with a history of cytotoxic chemotherapy.

- Robinsoniella Bacteremia in a Patient With Radiation Proctitis and Prior Colon Cancer: A Rare Case. [Case Reports]Cureus. 2026 Sep; 18(9):e115958.C
- Robinsoniella species are strictly anaerobic, Gram-positive, spore-forming bacilli infrequently associated with human bloodstream infections. We present a case of a 49-year-old woman with a history of colon and anal carcinoma treated with radiation and chemotherapy. She presented with fever, dyspnea, and worsening diarrhea. Blood cultures grew Serratia marcescens, Robinsoniella species, and Clost…

- Computationally guided discovery of novel inhibitors targeting Acinetobacter-derived cephalosporinase (AmpC) through structure-based methodologies. [Journal Article]J Mol Graph Model. 2026 Sep 30; 150:109589. [Online ahead of print]JM
- Acinetobacter baumannii is a critical opportunistic pathogen responsible for a global health crisis, driven primarily by the rising prevalence of multidrug-resistant (MDR) strains. A central mechanism of β-lactam resistance in A. baumannii involves the overexpression of the class C β-lactamase AmpC, which degrades a wide spectrum of β-lactams, thereby limiting the effectiveness of antibiotics. Th…

- Development and validation of a cefepime population pharmacokinetic model to guide treatment for patients with hospital-acquired pneumonia requiring renal replacement. [Journal Article]Antimicrob Agents Chemother. 2026 Oct 08; :e0090026. [Online ahead of print]AA
- Cefepime is used in critically ill pneumonia patients, but dosing in renal replacement therapy (RRT) is complicated by altered renal function, extracorporeal removal, and variability in pulmonary epithelial lining fluid (ELF) exposure. We sought to develop an integrated model linking systemic, extracorporeal, and pulmonary cefepime pharmacokinetics in RRT. Pharmacokinetic (PK) data from criticall…

- Individualized Treatment Effects of Cefepime vs Piperacillin-Tazobactam in Adults Hospitalized with Acute Infection. [Journal Article]Am J Respir Crit Care Med. 2026 Oct 07. [Online ahead of print]AJ
- CONCLUSIONS: Patients' individual characteristics modified the effect of cefepime versus piperacillin-tazobactam on survival without acute kidney injury but not on survival without delirium or coma.

- Emergence and co-existence of ESBL-producing and mcr-1-mediated colistin-resistant Escherichia coli isolated from camel milk. [Journal Article]Acta Trop. 2026 Oct 06; :108359. [Online ahead of print]AT
- The emergence of extended-spectrum β-lactamase (ESBL) and mcr-1 genes in Escherichia coli (E. coli) in camel milk severely limits therapeutic options for treating multidrug-resistant bacterial infections. The present study focused on the prevalence, co-occurrence pattern, and antibiogram characteristics of ESBL and colistin-resistant E. coli isolated from milk samples of camels. Overall, 384 came…

- Antimicrobial resistance phenotypes, disinfectant susceptibility, and resistance-associated gene detection in carbapenem-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa from two tertiary hospitals in Urumqi, China. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: CRPA isolates from these two hospitals showed uniform nonsusceptibility to carbapenems, with failure to amplify the expected oprD target the most frequent molecular observation. XDR isolates showed higher benzalkonium bromide MICs in vitro compared with non-XDR isolates. qacEΔ1-sul1 was the predominant disinfectant resistance gene detected, but its association with the XDR phenotype did not survive correction for multiple comparisons, and carriage was not accompanied by any measurable difference in benzalkonium bromide susceptibility. These findings provide baseline epidemiological data for Urumqi, though whole-genome sequencing, molecular typing, expression analysis, and standardised biocide efficacy testing would be required to establish mechanistic determinants.

- CONCLUSIONS: In this study, the implementation of TDM did not significantly impact PK/PD target attainment, which underscores the importance of integrating a protocolised dose adaptation algorithm. Neurological adverse events were associated with drug overexposure and kidney function impairment.

- A rare case of gastroenteritis due to salmonella enterica serovar Infantis in South India. [Case Reports]
- Salmonella enterica serovar Infantis is an emerging non-typhoidal Salmonella (NTS) serovar increasingly associated with foodborne gastroenteritis. Human infections caused by this serovar remain underreported in India. We report a case of acute gastroenteritis caused by Salmonella enterica serovar Infantis in a 53-year-old male from South India. The patient presented with acute-onset watery diarrh…

- Clinical and microbiological characteristics of pediatric Pandoraea sputorum bloodstream isolates with exploratory genomic analysis of two selected strains. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: This study describes the clinical and microbiological characteristics of pediatric P. sputorum-positive blood cultures at a single center and provides exploratory genomic data for two selected isolates. The recurrent carbapenem-discordant phenotype warrants careful antimicrobial susceptibility interpretation, and comprehensive molecular typing and functional studies are needed to define its genomic basis.

Although valuable for hypothesis generation and literature retrieval, LLM outputs should not be used in isolation for drug dosing in critically ill patients with kidney dysfunction.
