- Enhancing meloxicam efficacy in acute and chronic inflammatory pain: a novel dose-sparing approach using ultramicronized palmitoylethanolamide. [Journal Article]Inflammopharmacology. 2026 Oct 06. [Online ahead of print]I
- Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as meloxicam, are widely used for the management of inflammatory pain in human and veterinary medicine, although their clinical utility is limited by dose-dependent adverse effects. Strategies aimed at reducing NSAID dosage while preserving analgesic efficacy are therefore warranted. We investigated whether ultramicronized palmitoylethanolamide …

- Centripetal structural reorganization of the testis in experimental rheumatoid arthritis and its age-dependent restitution by meloxicam: A morphometric and immunohistochemical study in rats. [Journal Article]Tissue Cell. 2026 Oct 01; 104(Pt 3):104014. [Online ahead of print]TC
- CONCLUSIONS: In experimental RA the testis undergoes an ordered, centripetal reorganization in which germinal changes are accompanied by vascular-stromal alterations; age is an independent determinant of both injury severity and recovery, the ageing gonad entering the disease with a halved Sertoli-cell reserve. The preferential COX-2 inhibitor meloxicam was associated with morphological protection of the testis in this rat model, and a quantitative panel of tunica thickness, the outer-diameter-to-lumen ratio, Leydig-cell density and Ki-67/vimentin expression may help identify dysfunction at a potentially reversible stage.

- Umbilical Hernia in a Ram and Its Successful Surgical Repair. [Journal Article]
- This case demonstrates the successful application of a cruciate suture pattern using silk suture for umbilical hernia repair in a ram. A one-year-old local breed ram was presented to the Professor Feseha Gebreab Memorial Veterinary Teaching Hospital, Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia, with a progressively enlarging umbilical swelling. Clinical examination revealed a non-painful, large umbilical he…

- Self-assembled nanoparticle system synchronizing rapid analgesia and sustained anti-inflammatory therapy for inflammatory pain. [Journal Article]Int J Pharm. 2026 Sep 28; 705:127478. [Online ahead of print]IJ
- Inflammatory pain severely impacts patient well-being. Current treatments focus heavily on resolving inflammation yet often fail to offer rapid pain relief, leading to poor clinical compliance. To bridge this gap, we designed self-assembled nanoparticles that pair instant pain relief with long-term control of inflammation. The core consists of co-assembled lidocaine (LDC), capsaicin (CAP), and me…

- Comparative Evaluation of Drug Incorporation and Release Profiles in Six Specific Porous Vaterite CaCO3 Formulations. [Journal Article]
- Background: Vaterite calcium carbonate (CaCO3) particles are promising pH-sensitive carriers for oral drug delivery, but the influence of drug hydrophilicity on loading and release is still not well defined. In this study, we evaluate the encapsulation and release profiles of six specific formulations utilizing metformin and meloxicam across distinct CaCO3 carrier variants and loading methodologi…

- Resolution-Phase Immunometabolic Reprogramming by Gelidiopsis variabilis Polysaccharides: Macrophage Polarization and In Vivo Anti-Inflammatory Efficacy. [Journal Article]
- Sulfated polysaccharides from red seaweeds are emerging as versatile bioactive macromolecules. Here, we report that funoran-type galactans from Gelidiopsis variabilis (GV) function as immunometabolic reprogrammers, orchestrating inflammation resolution through targeted remodeling of amino acid and fatty acid metabolism in macrophages, potentially via receptor-mediated pathways. Cold and hot water…

- The Safety of Postoperative Selective Cyclooxygenase-2 Inhibitors in Chronically Anticoagulated Patients Undergoing Primary Total Hip Arthroplasty. [Journal Article]J Arthroplasty. 2026 Sep 21. [Online ahead of print]JA
- CONCLUSIONS: In chronically anticoagulated patients undergoing primary THA, postoperative COX-2 inhibitor use was not associated with increased bleeding, readmission, renal, or surgical complications and was associated with lower cumulative postoperative opioid utilization. These observational findings support cautious COX-2 inhibitor use within multimodal analgesia in this population; however, future prospective studies are warranted to validate these findings.

- Repurposing of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs as adjunct therapies against biofilm-forming Staphylococcus aureus isolated from camel milk. [Journal Article]
- The emergence of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) due to biofilm-forming S. aureus is a worldwide issue associated with a variety of persistent infections, including mastitis. This study investigated the prevalence and molecular characterization of biofilm-forming S. aureus, risk factors associated with subclinical mastitis (SCM), and simulation-based computational modeling for biofilm-associated p…

- Meloxicam (MLX) and tenoxicam (TNX) remain analytically important across pharmaceutical, biological, veterinary, and environmental applications, yet their reliable determination is strongly influenced by matrix complexity and drug-specific physicochemical behavior. This review moves beyond conventional method-centered summaries by critically comparing MLX and TNX across matrices and linking their…

- Anti-Inflammatory Role of Exopolysaccharides in Osteoarthritis via Modulation of Redox and Inflammatory/Catabolic Signaling Networks. [Journal Article]Appl Biochem Biotechnol. 2026 Sep 15. [Online ahead of print]AB
- Osteoarthritis (OA) is a leading cause of disability worldwide, characterized by progressive cartilage degradation, chronic inflammation, and joint structural deterioration. Beyond its physical burden, OA significantly impacts psychological well-being and socioeconomic stability. Current pharmacological treatments, such as meloxicam (Mel), provide symptomatic relief but fail to comprehensively ad…

- Effects of meloxicam administration at birth on blood gas, acid-base status, and predictive value of early cardiac autonomic variables for postnatal adaptation in Holstein-Friesian calves. [Journal Article]Front Vet Sci. 2026; 13:1924579.FV
- CONCLUSIONS: Periparturient meloxicam may modulate neonatal vitality recovery in a calving difficulty-dependent manner without directly reversing perinatal acidosis. Early HRV does not provide clinically useful prediction of compromised postnatal adaptation, and adds no incremental discriminative value beyond calving difficulty; calving difficulty score is the primary determinant. These findings suggest that targeted periparturient NSAID administration may be most justified for calves born after obstetrical assistance, although the quasi-randomized design warrants confirmation in a fully randomized trial.

- Disbudding is a routine management practice on dairy farms, and cautery disbudding remains the most popular method in North America. Practitioners commonly employ 2 methods of cautery disbudding: retaining (BUD-IN) or removing (BUD-OUT) the cauterized horn bud. However, comparative evidence regarding healing and pain outcomes between these techniques is limited. The objective of this study was to…
