- Hydrochlorothiazide doses of 50 mg daily or less are acceptable during lactation. Intense diuresis with large doses may decrease breastmilk production.
- Preparedness of primary health care facilities on implementation of essential non-communicable disease interventions in osun state south-west Nigeria: a rural-urban comparative study. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: The level of preparedness of the PHC facilities on implementation of essential NCD interventions in the rural and urban LGAs of Osun State is very low. Government needs to strengthen the PHC system by providing needed essential medicines, basic diagnostics, equipment, and training of clinical health care workers for implementation of essential NCD interventions in the state.

- Anticoagulation During the Cold Harmattan Season:Need for Extra Caution. [Case Reports]West Afr J Med. 2020 Nov; 37(6):709.WA
- With increasing availability of valve surgery, a pool of patients requiring chronic anticoagulation is emerging in our environment. The lower blood coagulability with low temperatures, though rare, can occur, putting patients at risk of bleeding. Recently, the author lost two patients with prosthetic valves on anticoagulation at the peak of the cold harmattan season. Before their death, despite d…
- Photostability study of multicomponent drug formulations via MCR-ALS: The case of the hydrochlorothiazide-amiloride mixture. [Journal Article]
- The kinetics and photodegradation mechanism of the pharmaceutical mixture of hydrochlorothiazide (HCT) and amiloride (AML) has been studied in depth using a chemometric approach. Water solutions of HCT and AML, separately or in binary mixtures, were irradiated with forced light at different pH values (3, 7, 9 and 12). Multivariate Curve Resolution - Alternating Least Squares (MCR-ALS) modelling h…

- Simultaneous spectrofluorometric analysis of tablets containing hydrochlorothiazide combined with timolol maleate or amiloride hydrochloride. [Journal Article]Acta Pharm. 2020 Sep 01; 70(3):373-385.AP
- Green and sensitive spectrofluorometric methods have been developed and validated for the determination of timolol maleate (TML)/hydrochlorothiazide (HCT) and amiloride hydrochloride (AMH)/hydrochlorothiazide in tablets. The proposed spectrofluorometric procedures were found to be linear in the range of 4-12, 5-35 and 0.025-0.2 mg L-1 for HCT, TML and AMH, resp. The excitation and emission wavele…

- Efficacy of chlorthalidone and hydrochlorothiazide in combination with amiloride in multiple doses on blood pressure in patients with primary hypertension: a protocol for a factorial randomized controlled trial. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Diuretics are pivotal drugs for the treatment of hypertension. Chlorthalidone and hydrochlorothiazide, in combination with amiloride in multiple doses, will be tested in terms of blood pressure lowering efficacy and safety. Since the intensity of blood pressure reduction is the major determinant of reduction in cardiovascular risk in hypertensive patients, this study will help to determine which combination of diuretics represents the most appropriate treatment for this population.

- A Novel Frameshift Mutation of SCNN1G Causing Liddle Syndrome with Normokalemia. [Case Reports]
- CONCLUSIONS: Our study identified a novel SCNN1G frameshift mutation in a Chinese family with LS, expanding the genetic spectrum of SCNN1G. Genetic testing helped us identify LS with a pathogenic mutation when the genotypes and phenotype were not completely consistent because of the hypokalemia. This case emphasizes that once a proband is diagnosed with LS by genetic testing, family genetic sequencing is necessary for early diagnosis and intervention for other family members, to protect against severe cardiovascular complications.

- Amiloride Is Effective in the Management of Abiraterone-Induced Mineralocorticoid Excess Syndrome without Interfering with Its Antineoplastic Activity. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: The combination of amiloride/HCT was effective in the management of abiraterone-induced MCES. Amiloride did not negatively interfere with the abiraterone inhibition of PCa cell viability in vitro.

- Effects of aerobic dance training on blood pressure in individuals with uncontrolled hypertension on two antihypertensive drugs: a randomized clinical trial. [Randomized Controlled Trial]
- There is a dearth of reports on possible additive blood pressure (BP)-reducing effect of aerobic exercise on antihypertensive drug in humans. This study investigated the additive BP-reducing effect of aerobic exercise on BP in individuals with uncontrolled hypertension. In this 12-week double-blind study, 120 new-diagnosed individuals with mild-to-moderate hypertension were randomized to receive …

- Pre- and post-treatment urinary tract findings in children with nephrogenic diabetes insipidus. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Medical treatment of the disease improved the dilation in all cases, preventing its potential complications. Regardless of the good outcome of our patients, periodic urologic follow-up is recommended in NDI patients.
