- The Power of Two: Harnessing Dual Glucagon and Incretin Signaling for Treatment of Obesity and Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatohepatitis-A Narrative Review with a Translational Focus. [Review]Obes Rev. 2026 Oct 11; :e70228. [Online ahead of print]OR
- A resurgence in glucagon research has repositioned this pancreatic hormone as a promising target in the treatment of obesity and related metabolic disorders. Glucagon is classically known for contributing to glucose homeostasis, but emerging evidence points to a much wider role in metabolism, including energy balance and liver health. These findings are fueling attempts to understand how to lever…

- Mogroside V Promotes Brown Adipose Thermogenesis via FTO-m6A-LETMD1-UCP1 Pathway to Combat Obesity. [Journal Article]Phytother Res. 2026 Oct 11. [Online ahead of print]PR
- Obesity is a chronic, recurrent, and progressive disease caused by energy imbalance. N6-methyladenosine (m6A) modification regulates fat thermogenesis, potentially counteracting obesity. Mogroside V (MV) is a triterpene glycoside extracted from Siraitia grosvenorii and has shown beneficial effects in models of obesity. However, its underlying mechanism remains unknown. The objective of this study…

- Clinical evaluation and treatment of obesity in women across selected life stages: a narrative review. [Review]Womens Health Nurs. 2026 Sep; 32(3):180-189.WH
- CONCLUSIONS: Obesity care for women should integrate disease-based assessment, individualized treatment supported by evidence, medication counseling tailored to life stage, nonstigmatizing communication, and shared decision-making. Nurses should support assessment, education, monitoring, and coordination within their scope of practice.

- GLP-1-based therapies in lung diseases. [Review]Eur Respir J. 2026 Oct 11. [Online ahead of print]ER
- Glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1 RAs), initially developed for the treatment of type 2 diabetes and obesity, are increasingly recognised as multi-system agents with cardiovascular, renal and anti-inflammatory benefits. Emerging evidence suggests that their pleiotropic metabolic and immunomodulatory effects may have therapeutic relevance in chronic lung diseases. The lung is a meta…

- Chitosan nanoparticles enhance the anti-inflammatory and anti-adipogenic effects of tart cherry anthocyanin in 3T3-L1 adipocytes. [Journal Article]Int J Biol Macromol. 2026 Oct 11; :154825. [Online ahead of print]IJ
- Obesity-associated adipose inflammation and gut dysfunction represent critical targets for dietary intervention. Tart cherry juice (TCJ)-derived anthocyanins (ACNs) exhibit potent anti-inflammatory and gut-protective bioactivity, but their poor stability and low oral bioavailability limit efficacy. Although nanotechnology can improve ACN delivery, conventional nanocarriers contain surfactants or …

- Sustained upregulation of hepatic gluconeogenesis is a major source of hyperglycemia in type 2 diabetes, and obesity is the primary driver. However, a substantial subset of obese individuals does not progress to diabetes, a condition termed metabolically healthy obesity, and the underlying mechanism has long remained unclear. ROS act both as physiological signals and as pathological drivers, but …

- Large volumes of whey generated during dairy processing are underutilized or discarded, creating environmental burdens. Recovering bioactive compounds from camel whey offers a sustainable valorization startegy. This study developed a one-step purification method for camel lactoferrin, generated trypsin-derived hydrolysates, and evaluated their metabolic and antioxidant effects in cafeteria diet-i…

- [Premature mortality attributable to preventable risk factors in Hungary]. [Journal Article]Orv Hetil. 2026 Oct 11; 167(41):1655-1663.OH
- CONCLUSIONS: Our findings suggest that a substantial proportion of premature mortality among the Hungarian working-age population is attributable to a limited number of preventable risk factors. Considerable health, economic, and social gains may therefore be achieved through targeted prevention strategies and through the integrated strengthening of primary and secondary prevention. Orv Hetil. 2026; 167(41): 1655-1663.

- Sicker at all ages? Two decades of changing disease histories and mortality in the United States. [Journal Article]Int J Epidemiol. 2026 Aug 18; 55(5).IJ
- CONCLUSIONS: Stagnating US mortality reflects both the growing prevalence of high-morbidity profiles and worsening or stagnating survival within them, highlighting the limited reach of prevention and disease-management efforts.

- Association Between Pre-pregnancy Obesity and Adverse Obstetric Outcomes: A Retrospective Cohort Study at a Secondary Care Center in Tbilisi, Georgia. [Journal Article]Cureus. 2026 Sep; 18(9):e116026.C
- Background Maternal obesity is an increasingly important public health concern and has been consistently associated with adverse pregnancy outcomes, including hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, cesarean delivery, fetal overgrowth, and preterm birth (PTB). Local institutional data remain valuable because patient characteristics and obstetric practice patterns may vary across healthcare settings.…

- The Role of TXNIP in Skeletal Muscle Physiology and Related Diseases: Current Perspectives. [Review]J Inflamm Res. 2026; 19:637774.JI
- Thioredoxin-interacting protein (TXNIP) is a multifunctional regulatory protein of the α-arrestin family that acts as a redox sensor, an energy-responsive molecule, and a transcription-associated regulator. TXNIP has emerged as a key regulator of skeletal muscle homeostasis and has been implicated in the pathogenesis of multiple muscle disorders. Skeletal muscle is a principal site of systemic gl…

- Effects of crowberry (Empetrum nigrum subsp. hermaphroditum) supplementation on inflammatory and metabolic adverse effects in high-fat diet-induced experimental obesity. [Journal Article]Food Nutr Res. 2026; 70.FN
- CONCLUSIONS: These findings demonstrate that crowberry supplementation can effectively counteract high-fat diet-induced systemic and hepatic inflammation in experimental obesity, supporting its use as a part of a healthy diet. Clinical studies are needed to assess the translation of these findings to humans and the role of crowberries in dietary strategies combating obesity and its comorbidities.

- Patient expectations and healthcare professional education in obesity care: A comparative qualitative study. [Journal Article]Obes Pillars. 2026 Dec; 20:100337.OP
- CONCLUSIONS: The comparative synthesis suggests that the greatest divergence between patient expectations and HCP education lies primarily in translating fragmented obesity-related learning into coherent clinical practice. University education may therefore benefit from greater integration of obesity-specific knowledge, communication and care pathways, rather than solely increasing curricular content.

- CONCLUSIONS: Widespread adoption of US-guided puncture in interventional PE therapy could reduce access-related complications, increase first-pass success, and reduce the number of puncture attempts, inadvertent arterial punctures, and unsuccessful access-site cannulations, particularly in patients with unfavorable access anatomy, obesity, or anatomical variations. Further education and implementation of US-guided access into training programs could improve the adoption of this technique.

- Evaluation of Stroke Knowledge Among High School Students: A Large Sample Cross-Sectional Study From Kezhou, China. [Journal Article]Stroke Res Treat. 2026; 2026:4723338.SR
- CONCLUSIONS: Kezhou high school students exhibited low stroke awareness, particularly regarding risk factors, the "stroke 1-2-0" identification method, emergency maps, and crisis management. It is recommended that stroke education be integrated into ethnic cultural activities, and that social media and posters on campuses and lectures by medical personnel be used to disseminate the "stroke 1-2-0" recognition method and improve regional stroke prevention and treatment capabilities.
