  • Recent Advances in Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia (CML): Emerging Molecular and Immunotherapeutic Targets. [Review]
    Front Biosci (Landmark Ed). 2026 Sep 18; 31(9):48912.Dai J, Zheng P, … Zheng ZFB
  • Chronic myeloid leukaemia (CML), a distinct myeloproliferative neoplasm, results from the malignant reprogramming of haematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) into leukaemia stem cells (LSCs), primarily driven by breakpoint cluster region and Abelson (BCR-ABL1) fusion oncogene. Although the advent of tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) has significantly transformed clinical management, leading to improved p…
  • A Case of Duffy-Null-Associated Neutropenia in a Patient With Chronic Myeloid Leukemia. [Journal Article]
    Case Rep Hematol. 2026; 2026:9335086.Parekh A, Metzner-Sadurski JCR
  • Duffy-null-associated neutrophil count (DANC) refers to a below-normal absolute neutrophil count (ANC < 1.5 × 10[3]/L), present most commonly in African American individuals. Neutropenia is a result of a lack of Fya and Fyb antigens on red blood cells. These patients do not have an increased risk of infection and may have an ANC < 1.5 × 10[3]/L at baseline. This unique case presents Duffy-null-as…
  • vNOTES versus multiport laparoscopy for borderline ovarian tumor staging: A multicenter propensity score-matched cohort study. [Journal Article]
    Surg Oncol. 2026 Sep 10; 69:102568. [Online ahead of print]Gungorduk K, Gulseren V, … Taskiran CSO
  • CONCLUSIONS: In this small, retrospectively matched cohort of carefully selected patients treated at experienced centers, vNOTES for BOT staging was associated with improved early recovery-including reduced pain, analgesic use, and hospital stay-without an apparent increase in perioperative morbidity. These findings pertain strictly to perioperative and short-term recovery outcomes and do not permit any inference regarding oncological safety. Given the observational design, substantial residual selection and indication bias that propensity matching cannot fully remove, and limited oncologic follow-up, these findings should be regarded as hypothesis-generating. Prospective studies with longer oncologic follow-up and cost-effectiveness analyses are warranted before broader adoption.
  • Initial Diagnosis of Hematologic Malignancies Identified Through Thyroid Fine-Needle Aspiration. [Journal Article]
Diagn Cytopathol. 2026 Nov; 54(11):837-841.Eschen CL, Mehrotra SDC
  • CONCLUSIONS: Hematolymphoid malignancies involving the thyroid gland are challenging to diagnose as they are rare and may mimic other primary thyroid malignancies. However, we find that the thyroid can be the initial and sometimes the only site of presentation of a hematologic malignancy. Thorough cytomorphologic assessment, collaboration with hematopathologists, and ROSE are valuable tools for ensuring appropriate initial testing and facilitating timely, accurate diagnoses.
  • Anesthetic Management of Two Pregnant Patients With Chronic Myeloid Leukemia: Two Case Reports. [Case Reports]
    A A Pract. 2026 Sep 01; 20(9):e02282.Hamilton J, Chipperfield KM, … Kruthof JP
  • Anesthetic management of pregnant patients with chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) is complicated by concerns that neuraxial techniques could theoretically introduce leukemic cells into the central nervous system. Evidence guiding anesthetic decisions in chronic-phase CML without circulating blasts is limited. We describe two pregnant patients with CML in whom anesthetic management was individualized…
