- Myo-inositol to prevent gestational diabetes: "What do conflicting trials tell clinicians?". [Editorial]Am J Obstet Gynecol. 2026 Oct 12. [Online ahead of print]AJ
- CONCLUSIONS: The recent meta-analysis provided a signal of benefit of myo-inositol for prevention of gestational diabetes mellitus. This clinical perspective identifies and discusses clinical and methodological differences that may have contributed to the variability in results across trials. However, the available evidence does not establish the optimal target population, supplementation protocol, or timing of treatment initiation. Adequately powered randomized trials focusing on short- and long-term neonatal outcomes are needed to better define the efficacy and safety of myo-inositol for the prevention of gestational diabetes mellitus.

- Examination of the psychometric properties of the disordered eating questionnaire (DEQ) in a Turkish adult sample. [Journal Article]Arch Psychiatr Nurs. 2026 Oct; 64:152177.AP
- CONCLUSIONS: Turkish DEQ is valid and reliable for assessing disordered eating behaviors in adults. Findings support a 15-item, four-factor structure with an overarching general disordered eating factor. Further studies should examine measurement invariance across more balanced sex and age groups.

- Dynamic association between breastfeeding and weight retention within the first year postpartum: A trajectory analysis study based on the China multicentre mother-infant cohort. [Journal Article]Am J Clin Nutr. 2026 Oct 12; :101581. [Online ahead of print]AJ
- CONCLUSIONS: Early exclusive breastfeeding and greater cumulative breastfeeding exposure were strongly associated with favorable maternal weight trajectories. Low early breastfeeding predisposition/state highlighted an early intervention window for SPPWR. The CBI may serve as a preliminary cumulative exposure indicator in this Chinese cohort.

- CONCLUSIONS: Hb may serve as a useful biomarker for metabolic risk assessment in high-altitude populations, with gut microbiota potentially mediating this association.

- "I'm never enough": Associations of childhood emotional abuse subtypes with overweight preoccupation and dietary restraint among women. [Journal Article]Body Image. 2026 Oct 12; 59:102205. [Online ahead of print]BI
- Childhood emotional abuse from authority figures encompasses verbal abuse, emotional rejection, and overexpectations. Although global emotional abuse is an established correlate of body dissatisfaction and disordered eating, the unique roles of these specific subtypes remain underexamined. Across two studies of adult women recruited from CloudResearch (Ns = 2566; 824), we evaluated associations b…

- Impact of a dietary and exercise intervention on health-related quality of life of prostate cancer patients on active surveillance with overweight/obesity: a secondary analysis of a randomized controlled trial. [Randomized Controlled Trial]Support Care Cancer. 2026 Oct 12; 34(11).SC
- CONCLUSIONS: In this secondary analysis of a previously published randomized trial, a 6-month diet and exercise intervention did not improve overall QOL among men with overweight/obesity on AS for PCa. While diet and exercise interventions may not universally improve QOL in this population, they remain important for broader health benefits and may offer targeted value for certain patients.

- Risk factors for cardiovascular disease, chronic kidney disease, and type 2 diabetes in populations with overweight and obesity: an umbrella review and cohort analysis. [Journal Article]Acta Diabetol. 2026 Oct 12. [Online ahead of print]AD
- CONCLUSIONS: Our analyses revealed that anthropometric measures, metabolic phenotypes, and dietary patterns are associated with CVD, CKD, and T2DM among individuals with overweight and obesity, especially T2DM. Integrated prevention strategies targeting these modifiable risk factors should be prioritized to optimize clinical management.

- Cardiometabolic Assessment in Patients with Overweight, Obesity, or Type 2 Diabetes Undergoing Artificial Intelligence-Based Retinal Screening: A Real-World Evidence Study. [Journal Article]Metab Syndr Relat Disord. 2026 Oct 12; :15578518261496129. [Online ahead of print]MS
- Background: Overweight, obesity, and type 2 diabetes (T2DM) increase the risk of vascular complications, including retinal vascular alterations. Artificial intelligence (AI)-based retinal screening enables early detection of microvascular damage, potentially contributing to appropriate cardiometabolic prevention strategies. We performed a realworld evidence observational study to assess cardiomet…

- CONCLUSIONS: In adults with OSA or OHS, CPAP reduces pulmonary arterial pressure and improves LV diastolic function, but it does not significantly alter LVMi or ejection fraction. These findings support CPAP as a key intervention to mitigate pulmonary hemodynamic burden and diastolic dysfunction in this high-risk population, while its potential to reverse structural cardiac remodeling requires further study.

- Diagnostic Performance of Six Insulin Resistance Indices for MAFLD Across BMI Categories in Type 2 Diabetes. [Journal Article]Diabetes Metab Syndr Obes. 2026; 19:557710.DM
- CONCLUSIONS: TyG-BMI should be prioritized as the primary screening indicator for MAFLD in overweight and obese T2DM patients, with METS-IR as a valid alternative. In normal weight patients, TG/HDL-C demonstrates excellent clinical utility, with TyG-BMI serving as effective alternatives.

- Development of a Non-Invasive Prediction Model for MASLD Using Routine Clinical and Biochemical Markers: A Retrospective Study. [Journal Article]Diabetes Metab Syndr Obes. 2026; 19:617442.DM
- CONCLUSIONS: A prediction model based on routine clinical and biochemical markers showed good discrimination for MASLD status in a single-center health examination cohort. Vitamin K was identified as an inversely associated exploratory marker, but this association should be interpreted cautiously and requires prospective and external validation before clinical or interventional conclusions can be drawn.

- Digital Health Interventions for Weight Management in Older Adults with Overweight or Obesity: A Scoping Review. [Review]Diabetes Metab Syndr Obes. 2026; 19:641439.DM
- CONCLUSIONS: DHIs for weight management in older adults with overweight or obesity are characterized by diverse technological carriers, multifaceted intervention content, and multidimensional outcomes. Future efforts should focus on participatory age-friendly design involving older adults, development of a core outcome set (COS), and integration of emerging technologies to improve the precision, sustainability, and scalability of interventions.

- Test-bolus peak attenuation for predicting aortic enhancement in coronary computed tomography angiography: an exploratory subgroup analysis. [Journal Article]Quant Imaging Med Surg. 2026 Oct 01; 16(10):803.QI
- CONCLUSIONS: Test-bolus peak attenuation demonstrated significant potential as a quantitative predictor of aortic enhancement in CCTA, suggesting that test-bolus peak attenuation may be useful in exploring individualized contrast protocols. The descriptive trends observed in the obese subgroup are strictly hypothesis-generating. Exploratory findings suggest that the predictive trend might vary according to BMI and CO. Larger studies are needed to confirm these descriptive observations.

- Beyond metabolic comorbidity: metabolic health stratification reveals BMI-ART associations in tubal factor infertility. [Journal Article]J Ovarian Res. 2026 Aug 28; 19(1).JO
- CONCLUSIONS: The impact of BMI on ART outcomes is independent of metabolic health status. Overweight/obesity exerts consistent detrimental effects on embryological outcomes, while metabolic comorbidities do not modify these associations. Metabolic health stratification suggests that adiposity per se, rather than its associated metabolic abnormalities, may be the primary factor associated with BMI-ART outcomes in tubal factor infertility, although the lack of significant interaction does not exclude metabolic modification.
