- Burkholderia vietnamiensis Bacteraemia After Lung Transplantation in a Patient With Diffuse Panbronchiolitis. [Journal Article]Respirol Case Rep. 2026 May; 14:e70597.RC
- Lung transplant recipients are at risk of opportunistic infections because of immunosuppression. We report a case of Burkholderia vietnamiensis bacteraemia that occurred 3 months after bilateral lung transplantation for diffuse panbronchiolitis. Persistent bacteraemia developed despite apparent in vitro susceptibility to meropenem. Therefore, antimicrobial therapy was reassessed and modified acco…

- Immunostaining and Ciliary Movement Analysis in Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia With a Homozygous Deletion Involving Exons 1-4 of DRC1: A Case Report. [Journal Article]Respirol Case Rep. 2025 Dec; 13(12):e70424.RC
- Primary ciliary dyskinesia (PCD) presents various clinical manifestations, including bronchiectasis, chronic sinusitis, situs inversus, and infertility. PCD is diagnosed through multiple methods, including transmission electron microscopy (TEM), high-speed video microscopy analysis (HSVA), immunofluorescence (IF), and genetic testing. Recent reports show that a homozygous deletion involving exons…

- Sinonasal disease in lung transplant recipients: A retrospective study at a single lung-transplant center in Japan. [Journal Article]Auris Nasus Larynx. 2026 Apr; 53(2):257-262.AN
- CONCLUSIONS: CRS is a clinically significant and relatively common complication in Japanese lung transplant recipients, particularly in those with underlying ciliary dysfunction. These findings highlight distinct regional differences in disease phenotypes and management approaches for CRS in lung transplant recipients. Systematic otolaryngological evaluation and timely intervention for CRS, including endoscopic sinus surgery, may help to prevent severe infections and optimize post-lung transplant outcomes.

- Clinical Significance of Pasteurella multocida Sputum Isolates in Structural Lung Disease: A Case Series. [Journal Article]Intern Med. 2026 Jan 02. [Online ahead of print]IM
- Objective To determine the clinical significance of sputum Pasteurella multocida in adults with structural lung disease by operationally distinguishing infection from colonization and describing outcomes of pathogen-directed therapy. Methods We performed a single-center, retrospective case study. Infection was defined a priori by new or worsening lower -respiratory symptoms at the time of culture…

- A Novel Machine Learning Approach to Assist Early Diagnosis of Diffuse Panbronchiolitis. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: These results highlight the first application of ML in diagnosing DPB and underscore the significance of allergic rhinitis and macronodules as critical indicators for early detection. Incorporating ML techniques into clinical practice could improve the diagnostic accuracy and efficiency for rare diseases such as DPB. Further research involving larger patient datasets is recommended to validate these results and refine the diagnostic criteria for DPB.

- Diffuse centrilobular nodular opacities in yellow nail syndrome. [Case Reports]BMJ Case Rep. 2025 Nov 27; 18(11).BC
- This case report describes a Japanese woman in her 70s who was initially diagnosed with diffuse panbronchiolitis (DPB) and treated with long-term macrolide therapy. The patient presented with a persistent cough and purulent sputum, and a CT of the chest showed centrilobular opacities. The clinical course, which included the detection of Pseudomonas aeruginosa and obstructive impairment, was consi…

- Genetic investigation of sinopulmonary diseases in Vietnam: seeking specific causes from non-specific symptoms. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: This is the first report in Vietnamese patients with non-specific upper and lower airway symptoms to identify genetic variants specific to CF and PCD, as well as another variant potentially associated with DPB. For the future management of sinopulmonary diseases or BE with unknown causes, ethnic differences based on their genetic etiology should be carefully considered.

- Case report on possible causes of severe osteoporosis: diffuse panbronchiolitis. [Case Reports]
- CONCLUSIONS: Clinicians should be aware of this possible association when evaluating patients with osteoporosis.Early identification and active treatment can effectively slow down the progression of osteoporosis. Identifying high-risk patients is also an important measure.

- Recurrent diffuse panbronchiolitis after lung transplantation: Off-label use of inhaled tobramycin for Pseudomonas aeruginosa control in a transplant recipient. [Case Reports]Int J Infect Dis. 2025 Jul; 156:107913.IJ
- CONCLUSIONS: This case suggests the potential of TSI as a therapeutic approach for managing recurrent DPB and indicates its role in stabilizing post-transplant outcomes. Further studies may clarify its efficacy and expand its application in broader DPB management strategies.

- [Clinical analysis of 6 cases of diffuse panbronchiolitis in children]. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: The clinical presentation of DPB is non-specific and can easily lead to misdiagnosis. In cases where DPB is clinically diagnosed but does not show improvement with low-dose azithromycin treatment, special infections should be considered.

- Diffuse panbronchiolitis as a rare complication of thymectomy and radiation therapy in a patient with thymoma: a case report. [Case Reports]
- CONCLUSIONS: Clinicians should consider DPB in patients with thymoma and cellular immunodeficiency. Both thymectomy and radiation therapy can contribute to the development of DPB. Early treatment with macrolides can improve patient prognosis.

- Case Report: Primary ciliary dyskinesia due to CCNO mutations: a Chinese pediatric case series and literature review. [Case Reports]
- Primary ciliary dyskinesia (PCD) is a hereditary disorder characterized by defects in cilia that impair mucociliary clearance. This study focuses on PCD caused by mutations in the Cyclin O (CCNO) gene and reports on three cases involving Chinese children. Case 1 was an 8-year-and-3-month-old boy who presented with respiratory distress after birth and later developed a recurrent productive cough a…
