- [Optimal Duration of Preventive Minocycline Administration for Skin-Related Adverse Events Induced by Anti-EGFR Antibodies in Metastatic Colorectal Cance]. [Journal Article]Gan To Kagaku Ryoho. 2026 Sep; 53(9):569-573.GT
- Prophylactic administration of systemic antibiotics is widely used to mitigate skin-related adverse events (AEs) during anti-EGFR monoclonal antibody (mAb) therapy for metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC). However, the optimal duration of prophylaxis remains unclear, and prolonged use may increase risks such as hepatotoxicity and reduced efficacy. In this single-center retrospective study, mCRC pa…
- A phase II study of DFP-14323, a non-specific immunomodulator, in combination with low-dose afatinib as first-line therapy for common EGFR mutation-positive NSCLC. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: The combination of DFP-14323 and low-dose afatinib was considered to have the potential for future clinical utility for EGFR mutation-positive NSCLC. As the next step, a study evaluating this combination therapy in uncommon EGFR mutation-positive NSCLC is currently underway in Japan (jRCT2061230111).

- Do Generic EGFR-TKIs Perform as Well as Innovators? Real-World Evidence from Gefitinib-Treated EGFR-Mutated NSCLC in Indonesia. [Journal Article]Asian Pac J Cancer Prev. 2026 Aug 01; 27(8):2969-2976.AP
- CONCLUSIONS: The generic formulation demonstrated comparable efficacy to the innovator drug in terms of progression-free survival, although a higher incidence of certain mild-to-moderate adverse events was noted. These findings support the therapeutic use of the generic gefitinib with careful monitoring of tolerability.

- IDEAL Phase 1 evaluation of subungual tube placement with selective nail-fold wedge resection for moderate-to-severe onychocryptosis-associated paronychia. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: This IDEAL Phase 1 study demonstrates the technical feasibility and short-term safety of subungual tube placement combined with selective nail-fold wedge resection for moderate-to-severe onychocryptosis-associated paronychia. Early outcomes were characterized by favorable healing and rapid pain relief, with no recurrence observed during the available follow-up period. Further investigation is required to determine the optimal catheter design and refine patient-selection criteria. Future research should proceed to an IDEAL Phase 2 (Exploration) study incorporating a larger cohort, longer follow-up, and continued refinement and standardization of the technique.

- Cosmetic-Associated Acute Paronychia With Green Nail-Bed Pigmentation in a Child Following Nail Polish Application. [Case Reports]
- Acute paronychia in children is typically associated with trauma or habitual behaviors, whereas cosmetic-related cases are rarely reported. We describe a 4-year-old girl who developed acute paronychia with persistent green nail-bed pigmentation following the application of nail polish to a nail with pre-existing cuticular disruption. Staphylococcus epidermidis was isolated from purulent discharge…

- Biosynthesized Silver Nanoparticles From Bacillus stercoris 2AT10: Synthesis, Characterization, and Antimicrobial Activity Against Paronychia-Associated Microorganisms. [Journal Article]
- Paronychia represents an underexplored clinical condition with limited alternatives to conventional antimicrobial therapies, which are increasingly compromised by antibiotic resistance and toxicity. Here, we report for the first time the extracellular biosynthesis of silver nanoparticles (BAgNPs) using Bacillus stercoris 2AT10, a marine-derived bacterium not previously exploited for nanoparticle …

- Cutaneous Adverse Events in Children Receiving Mitogen-Activated Protein Kinase Pathway Inhibitors. [Journal Article]Australas J Dermatol. 2026 Aug 06. [Online ahead of print]AJ
- CONCLUSIONS: These findings support early dermatologic assessment and proactive management of MAPKi-associated cutaneous toxicities. We propose practical caregiver-directed skin care recommendations to be introduced at treatment initiation to reduce morbidity and improve treatment tolerability.

- Pulsed Azithromycin for the Treatment of Dacomitinib Induced Skin Toxicity in Patient with Tetracycline Intolerance - A Case Report. [Journal Article]
- Skin toxicities like paronychia and acneiform rash are common side effects of epidermal growth factor receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitors (EGFR TKI) and significantly impact patients' quality of life. Tetracycline antibiotics are the recommended first-line treatment but can cause side effects, leading to intolerance and untreated toxicities, highlighting needs for alternative therapies. We presen…

- CO2 Laser Matrixectomy for Refractory MEK Inhibitor-Induced Paronychia in Children: A Case Series. [Journal Article]Pediatr Blood Cancer. 2026 Sep; 73(9):e70466.PB
- Paronychia is a frequent cutaneous adverse event associated with MEK inhibitor therapy and may significantly impair quality of life and compromise treatment adherence. Treatment is usually medical, with poor and unsustained results. We retrospectively evaluated the safety and efficacy of CO2 laser matrixectomy in children at a tertiary center between 2016 and 2026. Five patients with prolonged sy…

- Hand Infections Across Tissue Planes: A Pictorial Review. [Review]Cureus. 2026 Jun; 18(6):e111341.C
- Infections of the hand are encountered across emergency medicine, primary care, and surgical practice, and their outcomes depend heavily on early recognition. The complex anatomy of the hand, with its multiple fascial planes, tendon sheaths, and confined spaces, allows infection to spread rapidly and produce lasting functional impairment when treatment is delayed. This pictorial review presents a…

- 532-nm KTP Laser Treatment of Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor Inhibitor-Associated Paronychia: A Case Report. [Case Reports]Lasers Surg Med. 2026 Jul 15. [Online ahead of print]LS
- CONCLUSIONS: Given its superficial vascular targeting mechanism and broad clinical availability, the 532-nm KTP laser may represent a practical and effective therapeutic option for refractory EGFRI-associated paronychia. To our knowledge, this is the first reported case of successful treatment of amivantamab-associated paronychia with a 532-nm KTP laser.
