- Drugs and Lactation Database (LactMed): Ampicillin [BOOK]Drugs and Lactation Database (LactMed). National Library of Medicine (US): Bethesda (MD).BOOK
- Substantial information indicates that ampicillin produces low levels in milk that are not expected to cause adverse effects in breastfed infants. Occasionally disruption of the infant's gastrointestinal flora, resulting in diarrhea or thrush have been reported with penicillins, but these effects have not been adequately evaluated. Ampicillin is acceptable in nursing mothers.
- A flexible photoelectrochemical aptasensor using heterojunction architecture of α-Fe2O3/d-C3N4 for ultrasensitive detection of penbritin. [Journal Article]
- The performance of photoelectrochemical (PEC) analysis system relies closely on the properties of the photoelectric electrodes. It is of great significance to integrate photoactive materials with flexible substrates to construct ultra-sensitive PEC sensors for practical application. This work reports a novel photoelectrode developed by immobilizing α-Fe2O3 nanoparticles (NPs)/defect-rich carbon n…

- Management of antibiotic-associated pseudomembranous colitis in Non-hospitalized and hospitalized patients. [Journal Article]
- Proper management of antibiotic-associated pseudo membranous colitis is not clear. This article is to investigate proper treatment of antibiotic-associated pseudo membranous colitis. Data of 67 patients (aged 18-69 years, with 31 males and 46 females) with antibiotic-associated pseudo membranous colitis were retrospectively analyzed including the demography, antibiotics to induce and for treatmen…
- Analysis on distribution features and drug resistance of clinically isolated Acinetobacter baumannii. [Journal Article]
- The aim of the present study was to examine the clinical distribution and drug resistance of Acinetobacter baumannii infection, and provide evidence of clinical medication as well as the prophylaxis for the treatment of drug resistance bacteria. In total, 306 Acinetobacter baumanniis selected from routine culture were collected between January 2012 and December 2013, to analyze the distributions …

- Isolation, identification and sensitivity pattern of microorganisms isolated from the urine of pregnant women. [Journal Article]Pak J Pharm Sci. 1994 Jan; 7(1):65-72.PJ
- The present studies were conducted to detect and identify the microorganism from the urine of pregnant women having urinary tract infection. The antibiotic susceptibility of these isolated microorganisms was also determined. The microorganisms found responsible for the infection were bacteria, fungi, yeast and protozoa. Among the bacteria two were identified as Gram-positive cocci i.e. Staphyloco…
- [Primary epiphyseal osteomyelitis in children]. [Case Reports]Harefuah. 1991 Apr 01; 120(7):381-3.H
- A 4-year-old boy was hospitalized for suspected hematogenous osteomyelitis of the distal femur. Bone scan and repeated radiographs showed a rare condition, primary epiphyseal osteomyelitis. Needle biopsy and aspiration were negative. Penbritin and orbenil, 2 g of each, gave complete clinical and radiographic healing 7 weeks after initial treatment.
- Oligomeric substances in ampicillin preparations. A comparison of Penbritin, Famicillin and Petercillin. [Journal Article]S Afr Med J. 1988 Apr 16; 73(8):453-5.SA
- An investigation into the presence of potentially harmful oligomers in formulations of ampicillin for parenteral administration available in the RSA was undertaken by means of high-pressure liquid chromatography. Significant differences were found to exist between formulations.
- Comparative bioavailability studies on some brands of ampicillin capsules. [Randomized Controlled Trial]
- The bioequivalence of two generics of Ampicillin capsules, hitherto untested, were assessed using Penbritin capsules, the innovator's brand, as the reference product. The bioavailability study was carried out in nine healthy volunteers given one capsule (250 mg) of ampicillin in a completely randomized cross-over design. Statistical analysis (ANOVA) of the results indicated that one of the produc…
- Comparative plasma ampicillin levels and bioavailability of five parenteral ampicillin formulations in ruminant calves. [Journal Article]
- Plasma ampicillin concentrations were determined in an eight-ways crossover trial involving six ruminant calves, which were treated intravenously (i.v.) with sodium ampicillin at 15.5 mg/kg and intramuscularly (i.m.) with five different ampicillin trihydrate or ampicillin anhydrate formulations at 7.7 mg/kg. The mean plasma concentration-time curve (Cp) after intravenous ampicillin sodium adminis…

- Significantly increased levels of ampicillin were recorded in the serum of nine normal dwarf goats following injection of ampicillin trihydrate (Penbritin, 20 mg per kg of body weight) into the lateral cervical muscles compared with injection into the gluteal region (semimembranosus muscle). The differences observed serve to emphasize the fact that more attention should be paid to the effect of t…

- Reduction in incidence of ampicillin rash by purification of ampicillin. [Controlled Clinical Trial]
- Purification of ampicillin (Penbritin) with respect to protein impurities has been found significantly to reduce the incidence of rashes in treated patients. This may be related to findings in animals that injections of the isolated protein impurity can induce the formation of circulating IgG antibodies and skin-sensitizing antibodies.

- Comparative study of the effect of three antibiotics on renal function. [Randomized Controlled Trial]
- 1. Therapeutic doses of colistin sulphomethate sodium B.P. (Colomycin), pento-N sulphomethylpolymyxin B sodium (Thiosporin) and ampicillin B.P. (Penbritin) as well as normal saline have been given to volunteers with normal kidney function.2. A blind crossover technique was used and the effects of the compounds on blood levels and clearances of urea and creatinine studied.3. All four treatments re…
