- Atypical late neurosyphilis presenting as status epilepticus: diagnostic and screening implications. [Journal Article]Acta Clin Belg. 2026 Oct 01; :1-7. [Online ahead of print]AC
- CONCLUSIONS: Neurosyphilis is not intrinsically difficult to diagnose, provided it is considered, including outside the classically recognised risk groups such as men who have sex with men.

- Molecular Characterisation and Antimicrobial Resistance Patterns of Listeria monocytogenes From Dairy Sources. [Journal Article]Vet Med Sci. 2026 Nov; 12(6):e71265.VM
- CONCLUSIONS: The results suggest that raw milk may be a significant reservoir of multi-drug-resistant L. monocytogenes in this region and the studied supply chain. Therefore, hygiene measures and continuous monitoring are key to preventing contamination and protecting public health.

- Prevalence, Molecular Identification, and Antimicrobial Resistance Traits of Pasteurella multocida Isolated From Nasal Swabs of Buffaloes in Bangladesh. [Journal Article]Microbiologyopen. 2026 Oct; 15(5):e70432.M
- Pasteurella multocida is an important bacterial respiratory pathogen of buffaloes and may cause major economic losses in the livestock sector. But there is a lack of data on its prevalence, risk factors, and antimicrobial resistance patterns in Bangladesh. The study was cross-sectional, and a total of 400 buffaloes from seven locations in Bangladesh were included in the nasal swab collection. Iso…

- A Novel Nanoantibiotic Formulation With Magnetic and Targeting Potential: Ampicillin-Conjugated L-glu-Fe3O4 NPs. [Journal Article]
- Magnetic nanoparticles (NPs) are maintained in the body for a significantly longer duration than small molecule antibiotics, potentially facilitating prolonged therapeutic effects. In this study, a novel nanoantibiotic formulation (l-glu-Fe3O4-Amp NPs) was prepared, and its antibacterial efficacy was evaluated. For this purpose, l-glutamic acid (l-glu) was used for surface modification of iron ox…

- Analysis of Antibiotic Resistance Patterns and Distribution of Staphylococcus aureus in the Middle East: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis. [Review]
- CONCLUSIONS: Factors contributing to high AMR rates include ineffective antibiotic stewardship, self-medication, prescription errors, inappropriate dosing, and excessive antibiotic use in agriculture. The findings highlight the urgent need for stricter antibiotic regulations, improved stewardship, and public awareness across the Middle East.

- European Network for Optimization of Veterinary Antimicrobial Therapy (ENOVAT) guidelines for antimicrobial and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug use in bovine respiratory disease. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: These guidelines prioritize effective BRD treatment while reducing unnecessary use of higher-priority antimicrobials. Local adoption or adaptation using GRADE-ADOLOPMENT is recommended.

- Isolation and Preliminary In Vitro Characterization of a Honey-Derived Bacillus licheniformis Isolate. [Journal Article]
- Background/Objectives: Despite its hostile physicochemical environment characterized by high osmotic pressure, acidic pH, and low water activity, honey serves as a unique ecological niche for resilient microorganisms. This study aimed to recover bacterial isolates from honeys of different botanical origins and to characterize the probiotic-associated properties of a honey-derived Bacillus licheni…

- Turning distress into distraction: using virtual reality during penicillin injections for rheumatic fever. [Clinical Trial, Phase II]N Z Med J. 2026 Sep 25; 139(1642):150-155.NZ
- CONCLUSIONS: Immersive VR was feasible and highly acceptable during SCIP and was associated with reduced pain and anxiety, as well as smoother, faster procedures. VR distraction has the potential to improve the experience of injectable treatments, including intramuscular penicillin injections, and warrants further exploration.

- Multimodal Imaging of Iris Roseola/Papulosa: An Unusual Manifestation of Syphilitic Uveitis. [Journal Article]Ocul Immunol Inflamm. 2026 Sep 23; :1-4. [Online ahead of print]OI
- CONCLUSIONS: Vascularized iris lesions are currently rare but possibly underestimated manifestations of secondary syphilis. Multimodal imaging may be of help for better characterization of their vascular component, as well as for delineating other subtle inflammatory changes that may go unnoticed. Antibiotic treatment supplemented with steroids is curative in the short term.

- Like father, like daughter: amoxicillin-induced aseptic meningitis in a female patient and her father: a case report. [Case Reports]
- CONCLUSIONS: Amoxicillin-induced aseptic meningitis is a rare adverse reaction that should be considered in patients presenting with severe headache in the absence of an identifiable pathogen. A thorough patient history combined with comprehensive diagnostic evaluation is essential to establish the diagnosis and to avoid unnecessary or excessive treatment. Additionally, potential genetic predispositions, as suggested in other forms of drug-induced aseptic meningitis, may play a role and should be considered in selected cases.

- Infected thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysm with vertebral osteomyelitis caused by invasive pneumococcal disease successfully managed with rifampicin-soaked in situ graft replacement. [Case Reports]
- Invasive pneumococcal disease complicated by infected aortic aneurysm is exceedingly rare and frequently fatal. We report the case of a 60-year-old man who presented with a 5-month history of fever and back pain. Imaging revealed a ruptured infected thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysm with L1 and L2 vertebral destruction. Both blood and tissue cultures yielded Streptococcus pneumoniae sensitive to p…

- Fourteen-Day Amoxicillin- or Tetracycline-Containing Bismuth Quadruple Therapy versus 14-Day Metronidazole-Based Triple Therapy as the Treatment for Clarithromycin-Resistant Helicobacter pylori Infection: A Multicenter Randomized Controlled Trial. [Randomized Controlled Trial]
- CONCLUSIONS: PAM-B yielded eradication rates higher than those of PAM and comparable to those of PBMT, with no significant increase in the incidence of adverse events, suggesting the potential of PAM-B as a first-line treatment for clarithromycin-resistant H. pylori infection. Further large-scale studies are needed to validate these results. Registered retrospectively with the Clinical Research Information Service (CRIS; KCT0012265).
