- Genomic insight into the antibiotic-resistant determinants of Escherichia coli from small ruminants and manure in North West Province, South Africa. [Journal Article]Front Microbiol. 2026; 17:1950193.FM
- CONCLUSIONS: To our knowledge, this represents the first whole-genome sequencing-based genomic characterization of E. coli recovered from sheep and goats in South Africa, thereby expanding the known genomic diversity of livestock-associated E. coli within the country. Furthermore, data generated in this study emphasizes the necessity of ongoing genomic monitoring to track the emergence and spread of resistant E. coli, which is crucial for monitoring and mitigating potential public health risks.

- ISEcp1-associated dissemination of bla CTX-M/bla CMY-2 among cefotaxime-resistant non-typhoidal Salmonella from patients with diarrhea in Chongqing, China, 2022-2024. [Journal Article]Front Cell Infect Microbiol. 2026; 16:1891482.FC
- CONCLUSIONS: Our findings suggest that ISEcp1 is associated with the dissemination of bla CTX-M/bla CMY-2 among CTX-resistant isolates in this regional collection, and suggest the potential to mobilize large DNA segments. Enhanced genomic surveillance of such mobile elements is urgently needed in this region.

- Eleven-Year Trends in Antimicrobial Resistance and Isolation Rates per 1000 Patient-Days of Key Gram-Positive and Gram-Negative Bacteria in a Tertiary Care Hospital in Türkiye (2014-2024). [Journal Article]Infect Dis Clin Microbiol. 2026 Sep; 8(5):446-460.ID
- CONCLUSIONS: Antimicrobial resistance patterns exhibited divergent trends across bacterial species. Increasing resistance rates and resistant organism isolation rates were observed in E. faecium, S. aureus, K. pneumoniae, E. coli, and P. aeruginosa, whereas E. faecalis and A. baumannii showed relatively stable patterns. Monitoring resistance rates helps update local empirical treatment guidelines, while resistant organism isolation rates per 1000 patient-days provide an additional measure for monitoring changes relevant to infection prevention and control programs.

- Invasive Non-typhoidal Salmonella Infections in Adults: Clinical Features, Focal Disease, and Antimicrobial Resistance in a Turkish Tertiary-Care Center. [Journal Article]Infect Dis Clin Microbiol. 2026 Sep; 8(5):497-506.ID
- CONCLUSIONS: Invasive non-typhoidal Salmonella infection may present with heterogeneous and frequently non-enteric manifestations, particularly in adults with significant comorbidities or immunosuppression. The high frequency of focal invasive disease and the relatively high rate of ciprofloxacin resistance in this series highlight the importance of early microbiological diagnosis, evaluation for metastatic infectious foci, and appropriate empirical antimicrobial therapy.

- Fifteen-year surveillance of non-typhoidal Salmonella bloodstream infections in a tertiary care hospital in southern Türkiye. [Journal Article]J Infect Dev Ctries. 2026 Sep 30; 20(9):1315-1321.JI
- CONCLUSIONS: This long-term single-center study demonstrates that S. Enteritidis is the leading cause of NTS BSIs in Antalya and is associated with seasonal clustering and notable AMR. The substantial burden of comorbidities and mortality underscores the importance of continued regional AMR surveillance and appropriate empirical treatment strategies.

- Clinical features and drug resistance analysis of non-typhoidal Salmonella infection in children. [Journal Article]J Infect Dev Ctries. 2026 Sep 30; 20(9):1308-1314.JI
- CONCLUSIONS: NTS predominantly occurred in summer and autumn among children aged 6 months to 2 years. The clinical features were primarily fever and diarrhea. Given the rising resistance to ceftriaxone, ceftazidime may be prioritized for empirical treatment.

- Characterisation of multidrug-resistant, avian pathogenic-like Escherichia coli O78 from dairy-bred calves with atypical colisepticaemia. [Journal Article]
- The objective of this work was to identify and characterise the causative agent(s) of an atypical septicaemic syndrome in 3- to 6-month-old calves. Nine cattle from three Scottish dairy farms were subject to post-mortem in 2020 and 2021, and tissue samples were screened via routine bacteriology. Escherichia coli was isolated from all sampled tissues and a representative isolate from each calf was…

- Characterization of thermophilic Campylobacter species from diarrhoeic dogs referred to veterinary hospitals in Ilorin, Kwara State, Nigeria. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: This study reports Campylobacter coli and Campylobacter jejuni from dogs for the first time in Ilorin, Kwara State, and highlights the antimicrobial resistance patterns of the isolates. The presence of antimicrobial-resistant Campylobacter species in dogs calls for continuous surveillance, given the zoonotic potential of this organism.

- Azithromycin minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) creep and clinical-microbiological profile of typhoidal and nontyphoidal Salmonella isolates from blood specimens at a tertiary care hospital in Pune, India. [Journal Article]
- Background and objectives The Salmonella strains causing bloodstream infection show wide genetic diversity together with different antibiotic resistance profiles worldwide. The response of typhoidal Salmonella to standard antimicrobial treatments has become increasingly concerning during the past few decades. This study was conducted to evaluate the occurrence rate, antibiotic susceptibility patt…

- Biodegradation Characteristics of Piperacillin by Marine Bacillus cereus PP1 and Genome-Guided Mining of Candidate β-Lactamases. [Journal Article]
- Antibiotic residues in aquatic environments are an increasing concern because they may retain antibacterial activity, promote antibiotic resistance and generate transformation products with uncertain ecological risks. In this study, marine-derived bacteria were screened for their ability to degrade representative β-lactam antibiotics. Strain PP1, identified as Bacillus cereus, was selected for de…

- CONCLUSIONS: Multidrug-resistant A. baumannii was infrequently isolated, predominantly ST2, mainly from elderly patients with multiple risk factors. Extensive resistance profiles limit treatment options, with promising in vitro results for tigecycline and cefiderocol.
