- Diabetes Insipidus as a Rare Complication of Metastatic Breast Cancer With Pituitary Metastases. [Case Reports]Cureus. 2026 Sep; 18(9):e115755.C
- Diabetes insipidus (DI) is a rare but significant and life-threatening complication of metastatic breast cancer, typically arising when cancer spreads to the pituitary gland. This condition results from impaired secretion or action of antidiuretic hormone (ADH) or arginine vasopressin (AVP), leading to symptoms including excessive urination and thirst. The posterior lobe of the pituitary and the …

- A standardized fraction of Cajanus scarabaeoides attenuates diabetic nephropathy via antiglycation, anti-inflammatory, and anti-fibrotic mechanisms. [Journal Article]
- Diabetic nephropathy is the critical microvascular complication of diabetes and a leading cause of end-stage renal disease. Its pathophysiology incriminates complex and interconnected mechanisms driven by hemodynamic and metabolic alterations, accompanied with glycation, inflammation, oxidative stress, and fibrosis. Targeting these cues through natural interventions may preserve kidney functions.…

- Beyond Type 1 Diabetes: Clinical and Genetic Clues to Glucokinase Maturity-Onset Diabetes of the Young in Children. [Journal Article]Turk Arch Pediatr. 2026 Jul 20; 61(10):886-895.TA
- CONCLUSIONS: Diagnostic delay and inappropriate treatment were common before recognition of GCK-MODY, and many cases were identified after incidentally detected hyperglycemia. Lack of screening among relatives indicates limited awareness of this condition. In children with atypical diabetes presentations, careful evaluation and timely genetic testing are essential to prevent misdiagnosis, avoid unnecessary therapy, and ensure appropriate long-term clinical management.

- Urothelial Carcinoma in a Cat with Bilateral Ectopic Ureters. [Case Reports]
- A 10-year-old neutered female Maine Coon was presented with haematuria, weight loss, polyuria/polydipsia and progressive azotaemia. Diagnostic imaging revealed bilateral renal pelvic dilation, ureteral distension and ectopic ureters. Bacterial pyelonephritis was diagnosed, but the azotaemia progressed despite antibiotic therapy, and suspected ureteral obstruction prompted surgical ureteral reimpl…

- Pituitary Stalk Enlargement With Panhypopituitarism and Arginine Vasopressin Deficiency in Lung Adenocarcinoma: Metastatic Infundibular Disease or Paraneoplastic Hypophysitis? [Case Reports]
- Paraneoplastic endocrine syndromes are well-recognised complications of lung malignancies, specifically small-cell lung cancer. The majority of patients with panhypopituitarism associated with lung cancer result from pituitary metastasis. In those with an enlarged pituitary stalk without obvious pituitary metastasis presenting with a combination of panhypopituitarism and arginine vasopressin defi…

- A Case of Dual Endocrinopathies Induced by Pembrolizumab Following Treatment for Non-small Cell Lung Cancer: Type 1 Diabetes and Hyperthyroidism/Autoimmune Thyroiditis. [Case Reports]
- Pembrolizumab, a programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1) immune checkpoint inhibitor, is commonly used in the treatment of squamous cell carcinoma, offering improved survival and tumor response. However, it can rarely lead to immune-related adverse events (irAEs), some of which may be significant. We report a 62-year-old male with squamous cell carcinoma of the lung, a 40-pack-year smoking history…

- Palliative Debulking of an Aortic Body Tumour With Right Atrial Invasion in a Dog Under Partial Cardiopulmonary Bypass. [Case Reports]
- CONCLUSIONS: Partial cardiopulmonary bypass-assisted palliative debulking may temporarily relieve life-limiting intracardiac obstruction in carefully selected dogs; however, this approach is high-risk and non-curative, and its contribution to long-term survival remains uncertain because postoperative toceranib therapy and the natural behaviour of the tumour may also have influenced the clinical course.

- Pregnancy-unmasked latent autoimmune arginine vasopressin deficiency with anti-rabphilin-3a antibody positivity. [Case Reports]
- Although pregnancy-associated arginine vasopressin (AVP) disorder is rare, it is often attributed to excessive placental vasopressinase activity. However, vasopressinase-independent mechanisms, including gestational unmasking of latent AVP deficiency (AVP-D), may occur. We report a 37-year-old primigravid female who developed severe polydipsia and polyuria in the third trimester. She had hypotoni…

- Owner reported prevalence of autonomic signs in epileptic dogs. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: This study demonstrated that autonomic signs are ubiquitous in epileptic dogs, progression of autonomic signs is uncommon, and progression occurs more often than regression. The prevalence of autonomic signs in epileptic dogs appears to be significantly higher than previously reported. Additionally, changes in the course of autonomic signs indicate the need to monitor autonomic activity in individuals managed for epilepsy, due to the potential impact on quality of life (QoL).

- Features of structural organization of the urinary bladder under conditions of experimentally modeled hyperglycemia. [Journal Article]Wiad Lek. 2026; 79(7):1556-1562.WL
- CONCLUSIONS: Conclusions: In the dynamics of induced hyperglycemia development, disruption of structural-functional balance between urothelial cell clusters was detected, leading to imbalance between proliferative potentials of basal urothelial cells and integrity of the urothelial cellular barrier, as well as stages of differentiation of intermediate urothelial cells. Diabetic microangiopathy intensifies until day 70 of the experiment. Overall, during this period, diabetic cystopathy remains compensated (percentage of smooth myocyte area is 1.16 times greater than control and percentage of collagen fiber area is 1.23 times less than control).
