- The Afferent Threshold Hypothesis: A Unified Neural Framework for Functional Bladder Capacity and Nocturia. [Journal Article]Int Neurourol J. 2026 Sep; 30(3):192-204.IN
- The Weiss nocturia indices have structured clinical thinking about nocturia for over 2 decades. By deriving simple ratios from the frequency-volume chart, they classify nocturia into nocturnal polyuria, reduced nocturnal bladder capacity, and mixed etiology. The arithmetic is sound. But the framework rests on an unexamined assumption: that the maximum voided volume, almost always the first mornin…

- Prospective, randomized, placebo-controlled, multicenter, double-blind, parallel-group, registration field trial evaluating izenivetmab, a caninized anti-nerve growth factor monoclonal antibody, administered quarterly to dogs with naturally occurring osteoarthritis. [Journal Article]
- Izenivetmab, a caninized monoclonal antibody that targets nerve growth factor, was evaluated for osteoarthritis-related pain in a prospective, randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind, parallel-group field trial, conducted at multiple private practices, enrolling 574 individually owned dogs (median age, 9.0 years) with osteoarthritis (e.g., moderate to nearly incapacitating). Dogs were block …

- Factors Affecting the Clinical Response to Desmopressin Treatment for Primary Monosymptomatic Nocturnal Enuresis in Children. [Journal Article]Neurourol Urodyn. 2026 Oct 05. [Online ahead of print]NU
- CONCLUSIONS: According to our findings, desmopressin induced a clinical response in around three-quarters of cases, but relapse was observed in around one-third of patients. Advanced age at admission (≥ 11 years old), a history of SARS-CoV-2 infection, constipation, and allergies were found to be predictors of treatment response and relapse rates during follow-up.

- Arginine vasopressin deficiency revealing a disseminated human chorionic gonadotropin-secreting germinoma. [Case Reports]
- Arginine vasopressin deficiency (AVP-D) is an uncommon disorder caused by deficient vasopressin production due to hypothalamic or pituitary gland dysfunction resulting in hypotonic polyuria, whose etiology oftentimes remains elusive. We present the case of a 20-year-old male patient evaluated for polyuria and polydipsia. Laboratory evaluation demonstrated hypernatremia, elevated serum osmolality,…

- Diabetes Insipidus as a Rare Complication of Metastatic Breast Cancer With Pituitary Metastases. [Case Reports]
- Diabetes insipidus (DI) is a rare but significant and life-threatening complication of metastatic breast cancer, typically arising when cancer spreads to the pituitary gland. This condition results from impaired secretion or action of antidiuretic hormone (ADH) or arginine vasopressin (AVP), leading to symptoms including excessive urination and thirst. The posterior lobe of the pituitary and the …

- A standardized fraction of Cajanus scarabaeoides attenuates diabetic nephropathy via antiglycation, anti-inflammatory, and anti-fibrotic mechanisms. [Journal Article]
- Diabetic nephropathy is the critical microvascular complication of diabetes and a leading cause of end-stage renal disease. Its pathophysiology incriminates complex and interconnected mechanisms driven by hemodynamic and metabolic alterations, accompanied with glycation, inflammation, oxidative stress, and fibrosis. Targeting these cues through natural interventions may preserve kidney functions.…

- Disappearance of Posterior Pituitary Hyperintensity in Arginine Vasopressin Resistance: A Case Report. [Case Reports]Turk Arch Pediatr. 2026 May 22; 61(10):945-948.TA
- The evaluation of arginine vasopressin resistance (AVP-R) and arginine vasopressin deficiency (AVP-D), respectively, previously referred to as nephrogenic and central diabetes insipidus, often includes brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Its purpose is to assess pituitary structural changes and identify the physiological T1 hyperintensity of the posterior pituitary, present in most individual…

- Beyond Type 1 Diabetes: Clinical and Genetic Clues to Glucokinase Maturity-Onset Diabetes of the Young in Children. [Journal Article]Turk Arch Pediatr. 2026 Jul 20; 61(10):886-895.TA
- CONCLUSIONS: Diagnostic delay and inappropriate treatment were common before recognition of GCK-MODY, and many cases were identified after incidentally detected hyperglycemia. Lack of screening among relatives indicates limited awareness of this condition. In children with atypical diabetes presentations, careful evaluation and timely genetic testing are essential to prevent misdiagnosis, avoid unnecessary therapy, and ensure appropriate long-term clinical management.

- Clinical Determinants and Mortality Predictors of Acute Kidney Injury in Neonates: A Five-Year Retrospective Cohort Study. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Neonatal acute kidney injury-related mortality in the neonatal intensive care unit remains high. In this cohort, sepsis and persistently elevated serum creatinine levels on postnatal day 7 were identified as independent predictors of in-hospital mortality. The observed divergence in creatinine trajectories between survivors and non-survivors highlights the prognostic value of serial renal function assessment for risk stratification. These findings underscore the importance of early identification of high-risk neonates and support the need for future prospective studies to determine whether targeted monitoring and intervention strategies can improve clinical outcomes.

- Effect of Acupuncture on Urine Production and Storage in Prostate Cancer Survivors With Nocturia: Exploratory Analysis of a Randomized Clinical Trial. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Among prostate cancer survivors with nocturia, acupuncture demonstrated joint effects on urine production and storage. Acupuncture also reduced nocturia across different types of underlying urinary dysfunction, including nocturnal polyuria. If confirmed, these preliminary findings could inform a novel treatment approach uniquely suited for the multifactorial etiology of nocturia.

- Dorsal Pancreatic Agenesis Associated With New-Onset Diabetes Mellitus and Acute Pancreatitis in an 18-Year-Old Man: A Case Report. [Journal Article]
- Dorsal pancreatic agenesis (DPA) is a rare congenital disorder resulting from failure of development of the dorsal pancreatic bud. Complete DPA implies absence of the pancreatic neck, body, and tail and can be associated with both diabetes mellitus and pancreatitis. The patient was an 18-year-old man admitted with a history of epigastric pain, nausea, vomiting, polyuria, polydipsia, and unintenti…

- Characterization of Nocturia and Urinary Voiding Indices Along the Heart Failure Continuum in US Male Veteran Patients. [Journal Article]
- Heart failure (HF) is a growing public health crisis that progresses from cardiovascular risk factors to structural/functional heart disease and eventual HF symptoms. Nocturia, long recognized as a HF symptom, has not been characterized along the HF continuum. To characterize nocturia across HF stages, we retrospectively analyzed voiding diaries and clinical data from US male veteran outpatients …
