- Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drug Versus Acetaminophen Initiation at Influenza Diagnosis and 14-Day Neuropsychiatric Diagnoses in Adults: A Target Trial Emulation Using Japanese Claims Data. [Journal Article]Pharmacoepidemiol Drug Saf. 2026 Nov; 35(11).PD
- CONCLUSIONS: In adults, NSAID initiation, predominantly loxoprofen, showed no clear difference in short-term neuropsychiatric diagnoses compared with acetaminophen, although a relative increase of up to 36% and residual confounding by presenting symptoms were not excluded. The findings do not address diclofenac, mefenamic acid, children or established influenza-associated encephalopathy.

- Nonsteroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drug Mefenamic Acid Induces Dysbiosis by Depleting Butyrogenic Gut Commensals. [Journal Article]Chem Res Toxicol. 2026 Sep 21; 39(9):1642-1647.CR
- Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) possess severe side effects, including various types of gastrointestinal symptoms. Mefenamic acid is one of the most widely used NSAIDs globally. Using an anaerobic in vitro fermentation model, we showed that mefenamic acid reduced the abundance of gut commensals and increased the abundance of pathobionts. Specifically, butyrate-producing commensals w…

- Hydrophobic Deep Eutectic Solvent-Coated Silica Gel for NSAID Adsorption From Water: Performance and Interfacial Mechanism. [Journal Article]Water Environ Res. 2026 Sep; 98(9):e70609.WE
- Pharmaceutical residues in aquatic environments require reusable sorbents capable of removing structurally diverse contaminants under competitive conditions. Here, a hydrophobic natural deep eutectic solvent-coated silica composite (DES-SOT) was prepared by functionalizing silica gel with n-octyltriethoxysilane followed by immobilization of a thymol:oleic acid deep eutectic solvent. Characterizat…

- Nanoconfinement-Enhanced CO2 Retention in Fenamate-Loaded Silica Aerogels. [Journal Article]
- The interaction between carbon dioxide and molecularly confined pharmaceutical compounds can result in CO2 retention that exceeds that achieved through conventional physical adsorption. This study investigates CO2 retention following sorption in hydrophilic and hydrophobic silica aerogels containing the fenamates mefenamic acid and flufenamic acid. The Thermal stability of the retained CO2 was ch…

- Pharmacological Profiling of Mefenamic Acid Derivative (2-((2,3-dimethylphenyl)amino)phenyl)(4-ethylpiperazin-1-yl)methone) for its Antidepressant- and Anxiolytic-like Potential Using Corticosterone Induced Depression Model in Rodents. [Journal Article]
- Recent studies demonstrated that serotonergic system, specially 5-HT3 receptor (5-HT3R) plays major role in regulating mood and anxiety. The present study investigates antidepressant- and anxiolytic-like effects of a 5-HT3 receptor antagonist (5-HT3RA), (2-((2,3-dimethylphenyl)amino)phenyl)(4- ethylpiperazin-1-yl)methone) (MP-02), in mouse model of corticosterone-induced depression. - Mapping therapeutic alternatives: a systematic review of preclinical drug repurposing for schistosomiasis. [Review]
- Schistosomiasis is an acute and chronic illness caused by parasites of the genus Schistosoma. It is present in 79 countries worldwide and primarily affects socioeconomically vulnerable populations due to exposure to infested water during daily activities. Praziquantel is the primary drug used in international schistosomiasis treatment. However, adverse effects and parasite resistance mechanisms h…

- Mefenamic acid attenuates NLRP3-associated neuroinflammation and mitochondrial dysfunction and is associated with prevention of long-term cognitive impairment after sepsis. [Journal Article]J Neuroimmunol. 2026 Nov; 420:579036.JN
- Sepsis survivors frequently develop long-term cognitive impairment, but the mechanisms linking systemic infection to persistent brain dysfunction remain incompletely understood. Mitochondrial dysfunction and NLRP3 inflammasome activation have been implicated in sepsis-associated encephalopathy and may represent therapeutic targets. Here, we investigated whether chronic treatment with mefenamic ac…

- CONCLUSIONS: All oral analgesics demonstrated a reduction in pain score. Based on this limited study, the most suitable analgesic for pain management post Implanon NXT® insertion is tablet Mefenamic Acid 250 mg twice daily for up to 2 days. More robust double-blinded studies using placebos as a control are needed to confirm this finding.

- Comparative Evaluation of Glidants for Enhancing the Flowability of Poorly Flowing Powdered Materials with Varying Particle Sizes and Morphologies. [Journal Article]Pharmaceutics. 2026 Jun 11; 18(6).P
- Background: An increasing number of commercially available drug substances and bioactive ingredients are characterized by poor flowability. Inadequate flow properties may lead to material blockage during transport within production lines, as well as the formation of air voids within the bulk. Such phenomena can disrupt the technological process and may even result in batches that fail to meet qua…
