- Redefining cerebral palsy: diagnostic boundaries based on the functional maturation of corticospinal motor control. [Journal Article]Front Rehabil Sci. 2026; 7:1936873.FR
- CONCLUSIONS: Replacing the chronological-age criterion with the integrative-maturation status of each functional domain resolves the longstanding diagnostic ambiguity between cerebral palsy and other static motor impairments; all quantitative thresholds are theoretical working benchmarks pending calibration by multicentre prospective cohort studies.

- Embodied social exclusion: habit memory and the reproduction of caste in Dalit autobiographies. [Review]Front Sociol. 2026; 11:1884348.FS
- Casteism stratifies people in India into hierarchical ranks, imposing customs, rituals, and traditions in accordance with the division of labour. This systematic continuity of casteism preserves memory that is passed down from generation to generation, not merely by ideology but also embodied by mnemonic practices. Dalits are the most afflicted community by both ideological and habitual oppressio…

- Effects of percutaneous kyphoplasty with concomitant postural reduction in the treatment of acute osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures. [Journal Article]Front Med (Lausanne). 2026; 13:1969002.FM
- CONCLUSIONS: PKP combined with postural reduction during balloon expansion is an effective treatment for acute OVCF, as it can further restore vertebral height, and regional lumbar alignment. Hence, it is recommended for clinical application in suitable patients.

- Standing or Sitting to Void? Comparative Uroflowmetry in Healthy Male Volunteers: A Randomized Crossover Study with Equivalence Analysis. [Journal Article]Neurourol Urodyn. 2026 Oct 13. [Online ahead of print]NU
- CONCLUSIONS: In healthy men, voiding posture did not significantly modify the maximum urinary flow rate or voided volume; however, formal equivalence of Qmax was not demonstrated. The sitting position was associated with a shorter time to maximum flow, a small difference that is unlikely to be clinically meaningful and was partly dependent on a single outlier. Larger, pre-registered studies with pre-specified equivalence analyses and symptomatic populations are required.

- Early change in ventilatory ratio during prone positioning and 28-day mortality in patients with ARDS: a retrospective cohort study with exploratory eICU assessment. [Journal Article]BMC Pulm Med. 2026 Sep 10; 26(1).BP
- CONCLUSIONS: Early VR change during PP was not significantly associated with 28-day mortality under the primary nearest post-PP VR definition. This study supports the feasibility of extracting dynamic VR metrics from routinely collected ICU data, but does not establish VR response as a validated prognostic marker or clinical threshold.

- FAP adipogenesis drives early spinal muscle loss in dysferlinopathy and reveals a therapeutic target. [Journal Article]EMBO Mol Med. 2026 Oct; 18(10):4034-4058.EM
- Dysferlinopathy (Limb Girdle Muscular Dystrophy R2/LGMD2B) causes progressive weakness of limb-girdle muscles. Although gait abnormalities are common, the contribution of spinal muscles to disease symptoms remains poorly understood. Using cross-sectional MRI in patients and longitudinal analyses in a dysferlinopathic mouse model, we identify early-onset, progressive adipogenic degeneration of spi…

- This paper summarizes Professor ZHUANG Lixing's clinical experience in treatment of postural instability in Parkinson's disease (PD) with acupuncture. The core pathogenesis of this disease lies in "imbalanced pivoting" of the governor vessel, Shaoyang meridians and the belt vessel. The pathological evolution follows the pattern of "loss of spirit/mind governance, loss of qi pivoting, and loss of …

- The Effect of Foot Arch Morphology and Plantar Pressure Distribution on Craniovertebral Angle and Acoustic Voice Parameters Across Different Postures. [Journal Article]J Voice. 2026 Oct 12. [Online ahead of print]JV
- CONCLUSIONS: Foot arch morphology was associated with acoustic voice parameters independently of posture and forefoot plantar pressure, and with a consistent but non-significant trend toward lower craniovertebral angle values. These findings suggest that the integrity of the myofascial and proprioceptive chain extending from the sole to the larynx may warrant consideration as a parameter in the holistic evaluation of voice.

- Knee and ankle joint moments and muscle activation during stair ascent and descent in young adults with flexible pes planus: A comparison with normal foot posture. [Journal Article]J Biomech. 2026 Oct 08; 208:113618. [Online ahead of print]JB
- This study compared knee and ankle joint moments, muscle activation, and co-contraction between young adults with flexible pes planus and normal foot posture. Forty young adults (20 per group) performed barefoot stair ascent and descent. Three-dimensional motion analysis, ground reaction force, and surface electromyography (EMG) data were collected. Peak joint moments were analyzed using two-way …

- The overlap between the femoral vein (FV) and femoral artery (FA) complicates FV cannulation. This study used ultrasonography to evaluate the combined effects of body position and passive knee bending on FV size and exposure. In 103 healthy participants, femoral vessels were imaged and compared at three positions regarding inguinal crease in either supine or Reverse Trendelenburg positions with 4…

- Effects of 4-Week Intervention Combining High-Definition Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation and Foot Core Exercise on Lower-Limb Joint Coordination Patterns and Variability. [Journal Article]IEEE Trans Neural Syst Rehabil Eng. 2026 Oct 12; PP. [Online ahead of print]IT
- Coordination patterns and variability are key components of motor control. This study aimed to examine the effects of a 4-week high-definition transcranial direct current stimulation (HD-tDCS) combined with foot core exercise (FCE) on lower limb coordination patterns and variability during Y-balance test (YBT). Fifty-five healthy male participants were allocated to four groups by using randomizat…

- Measuring adult breathing pattern: devices, outcomes, and evidence-a scoping review. [Review]Sleep Breath. 2026 Oct 12; 30(6).SB
- CONCLUSIONS: Multiple modalities can quantify BP, but no single instrument currently satisfies validity, reliability, responsiveness, interpretability, feasibility, and equity across settings. Near-term use is strongest for respiratory-rate and trend-level expansion under controlled conditions. Progress depends on standardized reference frames for wearables, transparent breath-cycle definitions, cross-instrument calibration against common protocols, and larger real-world studies with systematic reporting.

- CONCLUSIONS: Camera-based AI-assisted BESS scoring showed strong total-score agreement with the pragmatic manual reference standard and smaller discrepancies than on-site manual scoring. This approach may support more standardized BESS assessment; however, external validation and longitudinal reliability testing are required before interchangeability with manual scoring can be considered.

- BackgroundVibroarthrography (VAG) is a non-invasive technique for evaluating joint health through acoustic signals generated during movement. However, reliable signal acquisition during dynamic activities remains challenging due to sensor displacement, motion artifacts, and inconsistent skin contact.ObjectiveThis study proposes an advanced wearable VAG system integrating PID-controlled negative-p…

- Ventriculoperitoneal Shunt Overdrainage Has Transient and Steady-State Components Strongly Dependent on Cerebroventricular Compliance: A Benchtop Experimental Study. [Journal Article]Neurosurgery. 2026 Oct 12. [Online ahead of print]N
- CONCLUSIONS: We identify a third determinant of CSF shunt over drainage, distinct from gravitational siphoning and pulsation-driven pumping. This mechanism involves a posture-dependent transient release of fluid from the compliance chamber on transition to the vertical position, amplified by higher compliance. Effective shunt design must therefore consider not only steady-state siphoning and pulsatile pressures but also this posture-triggered transient compliance response, reinitiated each time a patient moves from horizontal to vertical.
