- Repeated Spontaneous Transurethral Passage of Urinary Fungal Masses Associated with Candida tropicalis Candiduria in a Diabetic Patient with Multiple Urinary Calculi: A Case Report. [Case Reports]Infect Drug Resist. 2026; 19:624194.ID
- CONCLUSIONS: Visible urinary fungal masses in patients with candiduria should undergo histopathological examination, while urine and, when feasible, the expelled material should be submitted for fungal culture and species identification. Management of complicated candiduria should combine appropriate antifungal therapy with urinary drainage, glycemic control, bladder irrigation, and other source-control measures.

- Albuminuria Not Attributable to Diabetic or Hypertensive Kidney Disease: Adult-Onset Minimal Change Disease Presenting With Nephrotic Syndrome in a Woman With Prediabetes and Hypertension. [Case Reports]Cureus. 2026 Jun; 18(6):e111816.C
- A 45-year-old woman with long-standing hypertension and premature menopause presented with progressive bilateral pitting leg edema. Initial evaluation showed albuminuria, microscopic hematuria and pyuria, severe mixed dyslipidemia, and prediabetes. Despite optimization of blood pressure and cardiometabolic therapy, edema progressed to the thighs, and urinary protein excretion increased. Renal ult…

- Concurrent Jackstone Calculus and Prostate Cancer: Should They Be Treated Concurrently or Sequentially? [Case Reports]Am J Mens Health. 2026 Jul-Aug; 20(4):15579883261459755.AJ
- Jackstone calculus is a rare urinary stone morphology with a distinctive spiculated appearance, most often reported in the bladder and usually associated with urinary stasis or outlet obstruction. We report a 70-year-old man with 1 year of progressive dysuria and intermittent interruption of urinary stream despite tamsulosin and finasteride. Urinalysis showed pyuria, hematuria, and bacteriuria. U…

- Empirical antibiotic prophylaxis versus culture-directed enhanced prophylaxis for prevention of urinary tract infection after flexible ureteroscopy in children: A randomized controlled trial. [Journal Article]J Pediatr Urol. 2026 Jul 14; 22(6):106151. [Online ahead of print]JP
- CONCLUSIONS: Although empirical antibiotic prophylaxis offers a basic level of prevention of UTI post FURS, enhanced prophylactic measures with targeted antibiotic therapy and optimal dosing, show a more substantial reduction in UTI and complication rates.

- Extrapulmonary Tuberculosis with Seminal Vesicle Involvement in an Immunocompetent Patient. [Journal Article]Ann Afr Med. 2026 Jul 29. [Online ahead of print]AA
- Extrapulmonary tuberculosis often presents diagnostic challenges due to its involvement in multiple organ systems. We report a case of a 54-year-old, immunocompetent man who presented with prolonged fever and a generalized seizure. Neuroimaging revealed ring-enhancing lesions suggestive of tuberculomas. Further evaluation demonstrated a seminal vesicle abscess and cervical lymphadenitis. Histopat…

- The impact of intravesical Double-J stent configuration and dwell time on significant urine culture positivity in pediatric patients. [Journal Article]J Pediatr Urol. 2026 Jul 15; 22(6):106157. [Online ahead of print]JP
- CONCLUSIONS: These findings suggest that prolonged stent dwell time is consistently associated with significant urine culture positivity. The observed association between contralateral trigonal extension and culture positivity should be interpreted cautiously and requires confirmation in prospective studies.

- In addition to the culture methods perfomed in commercial laboratories, point-of-care tests (POC tests) are available for the assessment of bacteriuria in dogs and cats. This article provides an overview of the POC tests currently used to detect bacteriuria in veterinary medicine. Manual urine sediment analysis is a cost-effective method for the detection of bacteria, but there is no clear standa…

- Diagnostic Challenges in Invasive Saprochaete capitata Infection: A Case Report. [Case Reports]Infect Disord Drug Targets. 2026 Jul 16. [Online ahead of print]ID
- CONCLUSIONS: This case highlights the clinical significance of isolating Saprochaete capitata from urine in high-risk patients presenting with sepsis and negative bacterial cultures. It underscores the need for heightened clinical suspicion, prompt fungal identification using advanced diagnostic methods, and early initiation of appropriate antifungal therapy. Awareness of this rare but aggressive pathogen is crucial for improving outcomes in vulnerable patient populations.

- Management of neonatal pyonephrosis in a low-resource setting: a case report. [Case Reports]Ann Med Surg (Lond). 2026 Jul; 88(7):4577-4582.AM
- CONCLUSIONS: This case underscores the importance of maintaining a high index of suspicion for pyonephrosis in neonates presenting with non-specific symptoms such as fever and irritability. In the absence of advanced imaging, bedside ultrasonography proved invaluable for timely diagnosis. Despite the presence of a multidrug-resistant organism, targeted antibiotic therapy and prompt percutaneous drainage led to full recovery. This report highlights that, even in resource-limited settings, favorable outcomes can be achieved through early recognition, essential diagnostics, and minimally invasive interventions.

- BCGitis or genitourinary tuberculosis? Diagnostic dilemma following intravesical Bacillus Calmette-Guérin therapy: a case report. [Case Reports]Ann Med Surg (Lond). 2026 Jul; 88(7):4564-4567.AM
- CONCLUSIONS: BCGitis is a rare but important complication of iBCG therapy. A high index of suspicion, combined with careful clinicopathological correlation, is essential for accurate diagnosis and appropriate management, especially in tuberculosis-endemic regions.

- Posterior bladder-associated pelvic cystic lesion with histologic features consistent with mesenteric cyst in an infant with a functionally solitary kidney: a diagnostic uncertainty case report. [Case Reports]Front Pediatr. 2026; 14:1830291.FP
- CONCLUSIONS: This case is best interpreted as a posterior bladder-associated pelvic cystic lesion with histologic features consistent with mesenteric cyst, rather than a definitively proven mesenteric cyst. It highlights the need for cystourethroscopic evaluation, broad genitourinary differential diagnosis, clinicopathological correlation, and transparent reporting of diagnostic uncertainty.

- Quantitative evaluation of pyuria with a hemocytometer in children on clean intermittent catheterization. [Journal Article]J Infect Chemother. 2026 Aug; 32(8):103027.JI

- Perioperative predictors of urinary tract infections after percutaneous nephrolithotomy. [Journal Article]World J Nephrol. 2026 Jun 25; 15(2):118484.WJ
- CONCLUSIONS: Thirty-one out of 157 patients experienced UTIs following PNL. The presence of diabetes mellitus, larger stone size, and residual stones were identified as independent risk factors for postoperative UTIs after PNL. We suggest conducting further research to identify factors that may aid in the early detection of post-PNL UTI risks.

- Fulminant cholesterol crystal embolism syndrome triggered by Vein of Marshall ethanol infusion: a case report. [Journal Article]BMC Cardiovasc Disord. 2026 Jun 30. [Online ahead of print]BC
- CONCLUSIONS: In patients with severe aortic plaque burden, VOM-EI, alongside established factors like transseptal catheter manipulation and systemic anticoagulation, may act as a potential trigger for CCES. Although a definitive diagnosis via biopsy was not feasible, we believe that early recognition and prompt corticosteroid therapy contributed substantially to the patient's clinical recovery.
