- Remedial applications of biosynthesized metal oxide nanoparticles against pathogenic microorganisms. [Review]
- The biosynthetically prepared metal oxide nanoparticles, which function effectively as antimicrobial agents, are used considerably to lessen the harmful effects posed by microorganisms that have become antibiotic-resistant and have kept spreading ever more on a vast scale in environments. The increasing adversity in the biomedical field necessitates the development of materials that fulfill biome…

- In-Depth Review of Lanthanide with Special Emphasis on Thulium (A Potential Nuclear Medicine): Properties, Isotopes, Occurrence, Toxicity Studies, and Pharmacology. [Review]Nucl Med Mol Imaging. 2026 Oct; 60(5):474-489.NM
- Thulium is a heavy lanthanide and the second-least abundant rare-earth element in the lanthanide series. Out of 35 isotopes of thulium, only two isotopes, [171]Tm and [170]Tm, have relatively longer half-lives of 701 days and 128 days, respectively, and [169]Tm is the most stable isotope of thulium. The longest half-life of [170]Tm provides its logistical benefit to supply thulium worldwide witho…

- Biological effects of N-acetylcysteine, calcium hydroxide, chlorhexidine and their combinations as intracanal medications: cytotoxicity, genotoxicity and cytokine modulation. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: NAC modulated cytokine production in both cell models under LPS-stimulated conditions, resulting in a mixed profile of pro-inflammatory and regulatory mediators rather than a purely anti-inflammatory response. Most tested medications maintained acceptable metabolic activity and low genotoxic potential under the evaluated conditions, although CHX increased micronucleus formation in RAW 264.7 cells.

- Photochemical strategies in divalent samarium catalysis. [Review]
- Divalent samarium reagents, particularly samarium diiodide (SmI2), have long been recognized as the most powerful and versatile single-electron reductants in organic synthesis. Several catalytic strategies have been developed for Sm(II) chemistry over the past three decades, including approaches based on metal co-reductants, electrochemical reduction, and radical relay mechanisms. Photochemical s…

- Correlation between Sm3+optical absorption and disorder build-up in swift heavy ion-irradiated CeO2nanoparticles. [Journal Article]J Phys Condens Matter. 2026 Sep 28; 38(39).JP
- Diffuse reflectance spectroscopy was used to study undoped and Sm-doped CeO2nanoparticles prepared by sol-gel and ball-milling routes, and to probe radiation damage induced by swift heavy ions. Kubelka-Munk analysis of UV-vis-NIR spectra reveals nine Sm3+4f-4f absorption bands within the wide O 2p-Ce 4f band gap, with intensities that increase with Sm content and remain broad owing to low local s…

- Effect of Root Canal Dressings on Extraradicular pH in a Sealed Apex Model: An In Vitro Study. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: In a sealed-apex model, intracanal dressings did not raise the external pH significantly by dentinal diffusion. Therefore, the results do not support the advantage of a certain intracanal dressing in endodontic treatment after severe dislocation injuries of teeth without open apices with respect to maintained physiological pH.

- Comparative Evaluation of Postoperative Pain Following Nonsurgical Root Canal Treatment Using Calcium Hydroxide, Bio-C Temp, and Odontopaste as Intracanal Medicaments: A Prospective Clinical Study. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: All three intracanal medicaments effectively reduced postoperative pain after nonsurgical root canal treatment. However, Bio-C Temp demonstrated superior clinical performance, providing significantly lower pain scores, reduced analgesic consumption, delayed analgesic requirements, and fewer postoperative complications than calcium hydroxide and Odontopaste. Therefore, Bio-C Temp may be considered a promising intracanal medicament for improving postoperative patient comfort during endodontic treatment.

- A Novel Approach Endowing Nanocalcium Carbonate with Amphiphobic Properties Through Perfluoropolyether Carboxylic Acid Surface Modification: Elucidating the Surface Modification Mechanism. [Journal Article]
- Acquiring an amphiphobic nanocalcium carbonate (NCC) is a perplexing problem in the long term because of its hydrophility. This restricts its application in self-cleaning coatings and other super-low surface energy engineering fields. This study offers a novel and simple approach that endows NCC with an amphiphobic property through surface modification using perfluoropolyether carboxylic acid in …

- Toward Sustainable Lunar Construction: Optimization of Composite Alkali Activators for Nano-SiO2-Modified Simulated Lunar Soil-Based Geopolymer with Macro- and Microstructural Characterization. [Journal Article]
- Lunar soil-based geopolymers are promising in situ construction materials, but their reliance on Earth-transported alkali activators limits sustainability. This study developed a nano-SiO2-modified simulated lunar soil-based geopolymer (NS-SLSG) with reduced activator demand by optimizing sodium hydroxide (SH), calcium hydroxide (CH), and sodium silicate (SS). Inductively coupled plasma atomic em…

- The Effect of CaCl2 and Basicity of PAC on Fluoride Removal by PAC-PDMDAAC Coagulation. [Journal Article]Water Environ Res. 2026 Sep; 98(9):e70600.WE
- Fluoride contamination in water sources poses significant risks to human health and ecosystems, necessitating effective treatment strategies. This study investigates the influence of calcium chloride (CaCl2) and the basicity of polyaluminum chloride (PAC) on fluoride removal using PAC-PDMDAAC coagulation. Through systematic jar tests, the effects of varying PAC basicity (0.5, 1.0, and 2.0) and Ca…

- Synthesis and Biological Evaluation of O6C-Salvinorin Alkyne Probes. [Journal Article]
- The salvinorins represent a unique class of polyoxygenated, non-nitrogenous diterpenes that potently and selectively modulate the kappa-opioid receptor (KOR). We recently disclosed a de novo asymmetric synthesis of this scaffold that enabled the discovery of highly potent, biased analogs, including C11-alkynes designed for the CATCH (Clearing-Assisted Tissue Click Chemistry) assay. Here, we repor…

- Comparative evaluation of irrigant activation devices for removal of calcium hydroxide from artificial isthmuses connecting curved canals in 3D-printed resin molar models. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: None of the irrigation activation techniques achieved complete removal of calcium hydroxide. Cleaning efficacy was significantly influenced by both irrigation method and isthmus location. Laser-activated irrigation systems showed higher efficacy in specific regions, while conventional needle irrigation consistently demonstrated the lowest performance. Overall, irrigation effectiveness in isthmus-containing root canals exhibited a clear anatomy-dependent pattern.
