- Analysis of molecular events triggered by furanocoumarins in Psoralea corylifolia L. via reactive metabolites and protein adducts. [Journal Article]J Ethnopharmacol. 2026 Oct 03; :122460. [Online ahead of print]JE
- CONCLUSIONS: This study established an integrated chemical proteomics strategy to analyse the molecular events by which furanocoumarins in PF trigger oxidative stress via RMs and protein adducts. PRN is the primary furanocoumarin in PF, and quantitative analysis revealed that its content in PF is relatively low, at only 1.14 mg/g (approximately 0.1%). However, the active metabolites of PRN can selectively modify proteins, interfere with normal protein function, and induce oxidative stress, ultimately leading to liver injury. Therefore, despite its low content, monitoring the levels of furocoumarin components and carefully evaluating the dosage and duration of treatment during the clinical use of PF or its related preparations are necessary to prevent potential liver injury. The integrated strategy established in this study provides a valuable tool for evaluating the hepatotoxic risk of natural products and is applicable to safety assessments of traditional Chinese medicines (TCMs).

- A calcination-based method for the indirect determination of octacalcium phosphate phase purity. [Journal Article]Acta Biomater. 2026 Oct 03. [Online ahead of print]AB
- Octacalcium phosphate (OCP) is a precursor of bone mineral, but its phase purity is difficult to quantify because of strong peak overlap with biomimetic hydroxyapatite (HAp) in X-ray diffraction (XRD). Here, we present an indirect quantification approach based on the bulk molar Ca/P ratio after controlled calcination. Upon thermal treatment, OCP, HAp, and amorphous calcium phosphate decompose int…

- Refractory diabetic ketoacidosis in Rabson-Mendenhall syndrome due to a novel mutation: contrasting outcomes in a sibling - case series. [Journal Article]J Pediatr Endocrinol Metab. 2026 Oct 05. [Online ahead of print]JP
- CONCLUSIONS: Refractory DKA in RMS may require rapid, response-guided escalation of insulin beyond conventional pediatric dosing. The detailed temporal relationship between insulin dose and metabolic response in this child provides practical clinical insight, while early recognition of RMS permits evaluation and treatment of affected siblings before presentation with acute metabolic decompensation.

- Point-of-care (POC) diagnostics can revolutionize current medicine by enabling rapid, at-home molecular testing for early disease detection and treatment monitoring. Though several mainstream POC technologies exist, such as paper-based lateral flow assays (LFAs) and microfluidic cartridges, they either lack quantification capability or require a dedicated reader for electrical readout. - Follower arm muscle activity during the driver swing and its association with stroking performance in male golfers of different skill levels. [Journal Article]Front Bioeng Biotechnol. 2026; 14:1946349.FB
- CONCLUSIONS: The activation of the flexor carpi ulnaris, pronator teres, and other follower arm muscles exhibited temporal specificity and showed nominal associations with stroking outcomes. Skill-level differences were observed in both the SPM and RMS of muscle activation, with the most pronounced distinctions occurring in phase specific patterns during the downswing and follow through. The mechanical mechanisms underlying these activation patterns and their functional relevance to the stroking performance remain uncertain, warranting further investigation with synchronized kinematic and kinetic measurements.

- Effect of vessel noise on larval settlement of the exotic invasive bryozoan Bugulinaflabellata. [Journal Article]Mar Environ Res. 2026 Sep 28; 222:108433. [Online ahead of print]ME
- In recent decades, underwater noise from maritime traffic has increased, affecting key ecological processes in marine ecosystems. Invertebrate larvae use acoustic cues to identify suitable habitats for settlement, suggesting that anthropogenic noise may influence early life stages. This study evaluated the effect of vessel noise on the larval settlement of the invasive bryozoan Bugulina flabellat…

- Reliability-weighted attribution of object motion under reduced otolith reliability. [Journal Article]Vision Res. 2026 Oct 01; 249:108913. [Online ahead of print]VR
- Separating world-relative object motion from retinal motion requires an estimate of self-motion. We examined how experimentally degrading one vestibular observation channel alters this attribution in a recurrent state-space observer. We reduced effective otolith reliability by increasing generative otolith noise and held canal and visual noise fixed. The observer jointly estimated self-motion and…

- Time-adaptive particle image velocimetry framework via an event camera under continuous illumination. [Journal Article]Opt Lett. 2026 Oct 01; 51(19):5329-5332.OL
- Event-based particle image velocimetry (PIV) offers a promising approach for high-speed flow diagnostics. However, conventional processing pipelines, constrained by fixed event accumulation times and uniform inter-frame intervals, do not fully leverage the asynchronous nature of event data, compromising the fidelity of reconstructed velocity fields. This Letter presents a time-adaptive event-base…

- Harmonic Analysis of Electrical Activity of the Autonomic Nervous System in Dorsal Perirenal Lumbar Regions in Healthy Volunteers and Patients with Arterial Hypertension. [Journal Article]
- To non-invasively assess the activity of the autonomic nervous system (ANS) and the pulsatile activity of arteries in the perirenal dorsal lumbar regions, electrical bioimpedance (BI) and biopotentials (BP) were recorded in healthy volunteers and patients with arterial hypertension (AH). Signals were processed using harmonic (Fourier) analysis to determine the effective values (rms) of spectral p…

- CONCLUSIONS: Outcomes of this prospective study of high-risk EOS-HDFN pregnant participants and their offspring are consistent with previous retrospective studies, indicating a high risk of early IUT, neonatal transfusions, and fetal/neonatal morbidity and mortality. The results underscore the unmet medical need for effective treatments for EOS-HDFN.

- Timely feedback on whole-body vibration (WBV) exposure requires standardised metrics during measurement, yet many workflows record raw acceleration for offline processing, delaying feedback and increasing the data burden for bandwidth-constrained deployment. This paper presents a sensing node computing ISO 2631-1/AS 2670.1 exposure metrics on-device and transmitting metric records, not waveforms.…
