  • Sex-divergent skeletal muscle remodeling emerges early in cancer cachexia. [Journal Article]
Am J Physiol Cell Physiol. 2026 Jul 16. [Online ahead of print]Karagiannis C, Saunders AAE, … Gregorevic PAJ
  • Cancer cachexia is characterised by progressive skeletal muscle wasting and dysfunction, yet the early events that precede overt muscle wasting remain poorly defined. Here, we utilised a time-coursed C26 carcinoma model in male and female mice to define the pre-cachectic transcriptomic, proteostatic, immune, and metabolic adaptations between sexes. Males progressed more rapidly to cachexia and ex…
  • Proteomic analysis of malignant ascites and its impact on ovarian cancer spheroids. [Journal Article]
    Clin Proteomics. 2026 Jun 28. [Online ahead of print]Scanlan J, Mittal P, … Klingler-Hoffmann MCP
  • CONCLUSIONS: This study contributes to our understanding of the role of ascites in the regulation of the proteome and viability of cancer cells. It provides evidence for the induction of TGM2 expression by ascites. Results from this pilot study warrant further study in a larger cohort.
  • Multi-source apportionment and speciation drivers of heavy metals in the desert-oasis ecotone. [Journal Article]
    J Environ Sci (China). 2026 Aug; 166:142-153.Liu Y, Bao Y, … Li QJE
  • We systematically evaluated soil heavy-metal contamination, speciation, ecological risks, and sources across the arid desert-oasis ecotone along the southern Tarim Basin margin (Northwest China). Total concentrations and sequential fractions of nine metals (As, Cr, Cu, Hg, Mn, Ni, Pb, V, Zn) were determined. An integrated framework combined probabilistic risk indices (Nemerow integrated pollution…
  • Improving Rates of Cardiac Stress Test Completion through Scheduling Interventions. [Journal Article]
    J Ambul Care Manage. 2026 Jul-Sep 01; 49(3):E161-E166.Amat MJ, Ricci DA, … Phillips RSJA
  • CONCLUSIONS: A multi-layered outreach intervention was successful in improving the rates of completion and scheduling for cardiac stress tests, as well as reducing time to completion. The pilot was found to be cost-effective, but may increase workload for primary care staff. Future studies should investigate ways to automate processes to reduce the burden on the system. Our study describes a potentially quality-improving intervention by introducing a new scheduling process, which is not the existing standard of care.
  • A coordinated transcriptional program controls de novo Golgi biogenesis. [Journal Article]
    EMBO J. 2026 Jun 06. [Online ahead of print]Forno F, Abete D, … Polishchuk RSEJ
  • The Golgi apparatus expands during differentiation and increased secretory demand, yet the transcriptional mechanisms governing its biogenesis remain poorly defined. To investigate this process, we developed an enzymatic approach to ablate preexisting Golgi and induce large-scale de novo organelle formation. Transcriptional profiling of cells rebuilding the Golgi revealed a coordinated induction …
  • Impact of task structure on mental fatigue induction and work performance. [Journal Article]
    Ergonomics. 2026 Jun 05; :1-16. [Online ahead of print]Liu S, Bian C, … Liu YE
  • Mental fatigue poses significant risks in safety-critical environments, yet how task structure affects fatigue progression and its physiological expression remains unclear. This study recruited 40 participants to perform a Stroop-based mental fatigue task under two task structures (NORMAL vs. HALF) with identical durations but different block segmentation. Multimodal physiological signals-electro…
