- Suicide probability among physicians: an explainable machine learning analysis of depression, burnout, anxiety, and coping styles. [Journal Article]Front Med (Lausanne). 2026; 13:1943490.FM
- CONCLUSIONS: The concordance between conventional regression and explainable machine-learning findings indicates that the two analytical approaches converge on a similar pattern of associations between depression, anxiety, burnout, coping style, and suicide probability; in this study, XGBoost did not provide a substantial predictive advantage over conventional regression, and its principal contribution was complementary model interpretation through global and individual-level SHAP explanations. Given the single-sample, single-split design of the present analysis, these explainable artificial intelligence findings should be regarded as hypothesis-generating rather than as a validated basis for clinical risk prediction, pending external validation.

- Nicotine pouch use induces alterations in salivary metabolites and metabolic pathways. Preliminary study based on NMR spectroscopy. [Journal Article]Nicotine Tob Res. 2026 Oct 06. [Online ahead of print]NT
- CONCLUSIONS: High level of choline have seen in NG affecting the cholinergic system due to deleterious properties of nicotine. In NG, disruption of PB metabolism can lead to salivary gland dysfunction, characterized by reduced saliva secretion and altered composition. Furthermore, dysregulation of PB metabolism has been linked to various systemic diseases. More studies are needed, a more detailed characterization of different product use could have improved the nicotine intake models, and the effects of smoking cessation on salivary metabolome could bring information about the health benefits of this process.

- Fertilizer placement modulates the effects of soil metabolite formulations on nutrient status, phenylpropanoid-flavonoid metabolism, and sensory quality in flue-cured tobacco. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Well-cellar application combined with soil metabolite formulation 1 may improve nitrogen and potassium status in mature leaves and coordinate phenylpropanoid-flavonoid metabolism and quality-precursor accumulation, thereby enhancing the overall sensory quality of cured leaves. These findings highlight fertilizer placement as an important determinant of soil metabolite formulation performance and provide a theoretical basis for precision rhizosphere fertilization and the rational use of soil metabolite formulations in flue-cured tobacco production.

- PDE2A is involved in negative emotional behaviors via the cAMP-PKA signaling pathway in the SPS&S model. [Journal Article]J Affect Disord. 2026 Oct 03; 416:122585. [Online ahead of print]JA
- CONCLUSIONS: These findings suggest that amygdala PDE2A-cAMP-PKA signaling is associated with negative emotional behaviors in the SPS&S model. PDE2A inhibition may ameliorate behavioral deficits through PKA-related signaling. However, the peripheral blood transcriptomic data, lack of direct PDE2A activity and cAMP/cGMP measurements, and limited biochemical validation constrain mechanistic interpretation. Further studies using brain-derived datasets and comprehensive biochemical approaches are warranted.

- PAG-dependent defensive strategy selection: From stress-induced rigidity to adaptive flexibility. [Journal Article]
- Adaptive survival requires flexibly choosing passive or active defenses as threat intensity varies. Many studies have described the execution of defensive behaviors, but the flexibility of mice to choose defensive strategies is poorly understood. Here, we demonstrate that auditory cues of different intensities (60 dB and 80 dB) elicit passive (freezing) and active (escape) defensive behaviors in …

- Contextually adapted functional and dysfunctional presenteeism during protracted conflict. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Findings provide partial support for the proposed model and suggest distinct patterns of functional and dysfunctional presenteeism during protracted conflict, as captured by the contextually adapted framework. Perceived stress was primarily associated with maladaptive work functioning, whereas personal resilience and organizational trust were associated with adaptive functioning through lower strain symptoms. Strengthening individual and organizational resources may help nurses and dietitians, and potentially other healthcare professionals, maintain effective functioning under prolonged adversity.
