- Comparative evaluation of spinal versus epidural anesthesia in lower limb orthopedic surgery: Hemodynamic stability and block duration. [Journal Article]Bioinformation. 2026; 22(6):3707-3711.B
- Regional anesthesia remains essential in lower limb orthopedic surgeries for providing effective intraoperative anesthetic control and post-operative analgesia with fewer systemic side effects. Therefore, it is of interest to evaluate the fifty patients undergoing elective lower limb orthopedic procedures to assess spinal versus epidural anesthesia in relation to hemodynamic stability and block d…

- Preservation Breast Augmentation Under Sedation Is a Low-Pain Procedure: A Randomized Controlled Trial of Serratus Anterior Plane Block as an Adjunct. [Journal Article]Aesthet Surg J. 2026 Sep 05. [Online ahead of print]AS
- CONCLUSIONS: PBA under local anesthesia and sedation is associated with a consistently low perioperative pain profile. The SAP block provides a clinically meaningful intraoperative analgesic advantage and improves early postoperative comfort, supporting selective rather than routine use.

- Prolonged response following anesthetic-only medial branch blocks: A retrospective analysis of 410 consecutive procedures. [Journal Article]Interv Pain Med. 2026 Sep; 5(3):100816.IP
- CONCLUSIONS: This represents the lowest rate of prolonged pain relief following MBBs reported in published literature. Our findings do not support the premise that routine anesthetic-only MBBs have therapeutic benefit. This study is the first to quantify the incidence of how often a MBB intended for diagnostic purposes halts further treatment due to unexplained pain relief.

- "A Paradigm Shift: Complex Triple-Jaw Orthognathic Surgery Performed in the Ambulatory Setting". [Journal Article]Plast Reconstr Surg. 2026 Sep 03. [Online ahead of print]PR
- CONCLUSIONS: In a selected single-surgeon cohort, triple-jaw surgery with adjunctive procedures was feasible and safe with same-day discharge. ASC-based orthognathic surgery may represent an alternative to conventional hospital-based care.

- Single-Shot Versus Continuous Interscalene Blockade in Primary Shoulder Arthroplasty: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials and Observational Studies. [Review]J Shoulder Elbow Surg. 2026 Sep 03. [Online ahead of print]JS
- CONCLUSIONS: At 24 hours, SSIB was associated with analgesia comparable to CIC, with the direction of effect depending on the local anesthetic agent used. SSIB was associated with significantly fewer technical and block-related complications and lower material costs. These findings suggest a favorable risk-benefit profile of SSIB for primary shoulder arthroplasty, although outcomes beyond 48 hours require further investigation.

- The effect of intravenous dexamethasone in supraclavicular brachial plexus block at Halibet National Referral Hospital, Eritrea 2024-2025: A randomized clinical trial. [Randomized Controlled Trial]
- CONCLUSIONS: In summary, intravenous dexamethasone significantly prolonged postoperative analgesia, accelerated block onset, and reduced analgesic consumption without adverse events. These findings support its use as a practical adjunct to bupivacaine in supraclavicular brachial plexus block, with potential to improve postoperative pain management in low‑resource settings.

- US/ROS-responsive ALN-modified polymer nanoparticles enhance the efficacy of infiltration anesthesia through improved bone targeting and permeation. [Journal Article]Biomater Sci. 2026 Sep 03. [Online ahead of print]BS
- Complex maxillofacial bone anatomy compromises the efficacy of local anesthetics. This study develops an ultrasound (US)/reactive oxygen species (ROS) cascade-responsive polylactic-coglycolic acid (PLGA) nanoparticle system for enhanced dental infiltration anesthesia and perioperative pain management. The nanoparticles, which were surface-modified with alendronate (ALN) via an ROS-cleavable thiok…

- Spinal anesthesia for urgent cesarean section in a parturient with RYR1 mutation-associated malignant hyperthermia susceptibility: a case report. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: This case demonstrates that spinal anesthesia is a safe and effective trigger-free technique for urgent cesarean section in MH-susceptible parturient when strict precautions are followed. Pre-pregnancy genetic diagnosis enabled prospective multidisciplinary planning and contributed to excellent maternal and neonatal outcomes.

- Local Anesthetic Toxicity in Epidural Analgesia for Elderly Patients: A Case Report. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Epidural analgesia is an effective method of pain relief, providing prolonged and continuous analgesia with a relatively low risk of systemic toxicity. Nevertheless, LAST may still occur, particularly during prolonged administration or in vulnerable populations, such as elderly patients and those with hepatic, renal, or cardiovascular dysfunction. In the critical care setting, clinicians should maintain a high index of suspicion for LAST while excluding other differential diagnoses, including shock, stroke, or pulmonary embolism. Importantly, the potential accumulation of local anesthetics during epidural analgesia should be considered even when dosing adheres to current recommendations, as age-related physiological and pharmacokinetic changes may increase susceptibility to toxicity. This case also highlights the important role of intravenous lipid emulsion (ILE) as an effective rescue therapy in the management of LAST, with rapid improvement in neurological manifestations following treatment.

- Peripheral nerve blocks for total knee arthroplasty: a bibliometric and visual analysis, 2016-2025. [Systematic Review]
- CONCLUSIONS: The literature on PNBs for TKA has increasingly examined motor-sparing techniques, functional recovery, long-acting local anesthetic formulations, and longer-term outcomes. Liposomal bupivacaine, chronic postsurgical pain, sleep disturbance, and cognitive outcomes were prominent themes. However, bibliometric prominence should not be interpreted as evidence of clinical superiority or as a basis for treatment recommendations. These findings identify areas of research activity and uncertainty that warrant further evaluation through comparative clinical studies and systematic evidence synthesis.

- Rectus Sheath Block Using Bupivacaine Versus No Block for Postoperative Pain Management Following Midline Laparotomy: A Retrospective Comparative Study Using the Visual Analogue Scale. [Journal Article]
- Background Effective postoperative pain management following midline laparotomy is critical to enhance recovery and minimize complications. The rectus sheath block (RSB) with bupivacaine has been proposed as a targeted, opioid-sparing regional analgesic technique. However, data from government hospital settings in India remain scarce. This study evaluated the efficacy of a single-dose RSB with 0.…

- Background and aims The erector spinae plane (ESP) block is a popular technique for postoperative analgesia across various surgical procedures. This study aimed to compare two different approaches - the superficial ESP (SES) block and deep ESP (DES) block - for the duration and quality of analgesia in women undergoing modified radical mastectomy (MRM). - Risks and mitigations of substance use disorders with dental procedures-related opioid prescriptions: A systematic review. [Review]
- Dental opioid prescriptions remain one of the most common initial exposures to opioids worldwide. Although opioid prescribing in dentistry has declined, even limited exposure to opioids may be a significant risk factor for developing Opioid Use Disorder (OUD), particularly in younger populations. This review evaluates the existing literature on dental opioid prescriptions and the development of O…
