  • Impact of kidney and liver transplant immunosuppression regimens on sinonasal disease. [Journal Article]
    Am J Otolaryngol. 2026 Sep 18; 47(6):104939. [Online ahead of print]Africa RE, Dabak A, … Hardison SAAJ
  • CONCLUSIONS: When comparing common immunosuppression for kidney and liver transplant, basiliximab was associated with a higher rate of sinonasal disease and AR compared to ATG. For maintenance immunosuppression, treatment with tacrolimus-based regimens was associated with a higher rate of AR and acute IFS.
  • Impact of antibody-mediated rejection detected on one-year protocol biopsies on long-term kidney allograft survival. [Journal Article]
    Front Med (Lausanne). 2026; 13:1938644.Severova G, Karanfilovski V, … Ivanovski NFM
  • CONCLUSIONS: In this cohort, ABMR detected on one-year protocol graft biopsies was associated with inferior 10-year death-censored graft survival in kidney transplant recipients with stable graft function. These findings suggest that one-year protocol biopsies may provide useful prognostic information for identifying recipients at increased risk of long-term graft loss. However, given the small sample size, limited number of graft failure events, and observational study design, these findings should be interpreted as an association rather than evidence of a definitive prognostic effect and require confirmation in larger, preferably multicenter cohorts.
  • Alemtuzumab or basiliximab: Rethinking induction choice beyond acute rejection in kidney transplantation. [Review]
    World J Transplant. 2026 Sep 18; 16(3):118000.Kashiv P, Saxena K, … Kute VBWJ
  • In this review summarizes studies presenting a propensity-matched comparative analysis evaluating alemtuzumab vs basiliximab induction in kidney transplant recipients with aligned immunological risk profiles and extended follow-up. Alemtuzumab, a potent lymphocyte-depleting agent, has therefore been widely adopted on the premise that deeper early immune suppression confers durable graft protectio…
  • Management of cytomegalovirus reactivation and immunosuppression following uterus transplantation. [Journal Article]
Clinics (Sao Paulo). 2026 Jul 08; 81:101041. [Online ahead of print]Song ATW, Ejzenberg D, … Andraus WC
  • Uterus transplantation (UTx) is an emerging therapeutic option for women with absolute uterine factor infertility, requiring intensive immunosuppression that increases susceptibility to opportunistic infections such as cytomegalovirus (CMV). Evidence guiding CMV management in UTx remains limited. The authors report a case of CMV reactivation in a 34-year-old woman with Mayer-Rokitansky-Küster-Hau…
