- PRO-INFLAMMATORY INTERLEUKINS AND OXIDATIVE IMBALANCE IN L-NAME-INDUCED HYPERTENSION: COMPARATIVE EFFECTS OF Β-BLOCKERS. [Journal Article]Georgian Med News. 2026; (376-377):323-330.GM
- CONCLUSIONS: Chronic NOS inhibition was associated with hypertension and concurrent alterations in inflammatory and oxidative parameters. β-blockers differ in their modulatory effects, with nebivolol and carvedilol demonstrating greater overall efficacy. These findings reflect associations rather than causal mechanisms and support further investigation into integrated therapeutic strategies.
- [Xiaoyao San alleviates abnormal α‑syn aggregation and neuronal injury in a Caenorhabditis elegans model of Parkinson disease via the SKN-1 antioxidative pathway]. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: XYS improves neurological function in Caenorhabditis elegans PD model by alleviating oxidative stress and suppressing abnormal α‑syn aggregation, and its neuroprotective effect is mediated probably by the SKN-1/Nrf2-related antioxidant pathway.

- Comparative real-world safety profiles of selective β1-adrenergic receptor blockers: A multi-database pharmacovigilance disproportionality study. [Journal Article]
- Selective β1-blockers are fundamental in managing hypertension, coronary artery disease, and heart failure. Yet, despite their widespread use, practical guidance on safe and individualized prescribing remains limited. Existing evidence is largely derived from controlled clinical trials, which may not fully capture drug-specific adverse events, sex-related susceptibility, or early-onset risks obse…

- Bioactive Selenium Peptides Rescue Dopaminergic Neurodegeneration via Coordinated Signal Remodeling and Redox Reinforcement. [Journal Article]
- Selenium-dependent antioxidant systems are critical for neuronal redox balance, but whether Parkinson's disease (PD) involves systemic selenium deficiency or selective utilization impairment remains unclear. Using Parkinson's Progression Markers Initiative (PPMI) proteomic data, we identified specific downregulation of glutathione peroxidase 3 (GPX3) in cerebrospinal fluid in PD, suggesting a com…

- Oral antihypertensive agents in hypertensive pregnancies and adverse maternal and perinatal outcomes: study protocol for a target trial emulation using Dutch electronic health record data. [Journal Article]
- Hypertensive disorders of pregnancy (HDP) are associated with maternal and neonatal morbidity. Although delivery is the definitive treatment, antihypertensive agents are often prescribed to control blood pressure to facilitate safe prolongation of pregnancy. International guidelines vary in their treatment recommendations and preferences for methyldopa, labetalol and nifedipine. Within the field …

- Atenolol or Bisoprolol after Myocardial Infarction without Recorded Heart Failure. [Journal Article]NEJM Evid. 2026 Oct; 5(10):EVIDoa2600138.NE
- CONCLUSIONS: Among patients without recorded characteristics in an administrative database suggesting the presence of heart failure, initiation of atenolol after myocardial infarction was associated with a lower risk of major adverse cardiovascular events, but not all-cause mortality, at 2 years compared with bisoprolol. (Funded by PRAIRIE and others.).

- Deltex 2 Mediates Oxidative Stress and Neurotoxicity in Freezing of Gait of Parkinson's Disease via the Notch2-Nrf2 Axis. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: DTX2 emerges as a key molecular driver of freezing of gait in PD. Pharmacological or genetic suppression of DTX2 stabilizes the Notch2-Nrf2 antioxidant axis, rescuing neurons and restoring motor performance in rodent models. These findings identify DTX2 as a readily druggable target for precision therapy aimed at alleviating FOG and improving mobility in patients with advanced PD.

- Altered Excitation-Inhibition Balance and mGluR1/5-Driven Plasticity in the Motor Cortical Surface in a Rat Model of Parkinson's Disease. [Journal Article]Int J Mol Sci. 2026 Aug 24; 27(17).IJ
- Parkinson's disease (PD) is characterized by progressive dopaminergic degeneration and maladaptive motor cortical plasticity. However, the cellular pathways underlying cortical surface activity in the primary motor cortex (M1) remain unclear, despite serving as a potential target for electrotherapy. We investigated the excitatory-inhibitory (E-I) balance and synaptic plasticity of superficial M1 …

- Preutremutin A: An Unprecedented Tetracyclic Tremulane Sesquiterpenoid from Endophytic Strain of Rhododendron capitatum with Neuroprotective Activity. [Journal Article]J Org Chem. 2026 Sep 11; 91(36):12175-12182.JO
- Four new seco-tremulane sesquiterpenoids, preutremutins A-D (1-4), were isolated from an endophytic Preussia fungus associated with Rhododendron capitatum for the first time. Preutremutin A (1) possesses an unprecedented 5/5/5/5 tetracyclic skeleton, representing a novel ring-rearrangement pattern in tremulane-type natural products. Preutremutin D (4) is the first reported dimeric tremulane sesqu…

- Phenolic Glycosides From Ficus erecta and Their Anti-Inflammatory and Neuroprotective Activities. [Journal Article]
- Five undescribed phenolic glycosides, ficuserectosides A-E (1-5), and three previously reported congeners (6-8) were obtained from the whole plants of Ficus erecta. Their structures were determined by comprehensive analysis of 1D and 2D NMR and HRESIMS data. The identities and configurations of the monosaccharide units were established after hydrolysis and subsequent chiral derivatization followe…

- Cardiomyocyte hypertrophy co-localizes with accumulation of hyaluronan in cMyBPC+/- mice hearts. [Journal Article]
- Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) is a genetic heart disease characterized by left ventricular hypertrophy. Mutations in genes for sarcomere proteins, e.g., in cardiac myosin-binding protein C (cMyBPC), may cause symptoms like heart failure and sudden cardiac death. In HCM, the heart utilizes high amounts of glucose. Increased glucose metabolism creates intermediates for hyaluronan (HA) synthesis…

- Exploring Cognitive and Affective Outcomes Following Bilateral 6-Hydroxydopamine Lesions of the Substance Nigra or Striatum in Rats. [Journal Article]
- The majority of animal models of Parkinson's disease (PD) focus on motor symptoms that are induced by unilateral injections of such neurotoxins as 6-hydroxydopamine (6-OHDA) in nigrostriatal dopaminergic pathways. However, motor changes that are induced by unilateral 6-OHDA injections may interfere with the identification of cognitive and affective dysfunctions induced by dopaminergic neurodegene…

- Intracerebral ifenprodil enhances autophagy function in 6-OHDA-lesioned rats to provide synaptic plasticity. [Journal Article]Folia Neuropathol. 2026; 64(2):150-159.FN
- Progressive degeneration of dopamine neurons in the substantia nigra is the primary pathological abnormality in Parkinson's disease (PD). It has been demonstrated that overactivation of glutamatergic neurons leads to excessive accumulation of intracellular calcium and impairs autophagy. To assess the neuroprotective effects of ifenprodil, rats with 6-hydroxydopamine (6-OHDA)-induced injuries were…
