- Elevated atherogenic index of plasma in multiple sclerosis: association with metabolic profile in a cross-sectional study. [Journal Article]BMC Neurol. 2026 Aug 06; 26(1).BN
- CONCLUSIONS: Elevated AIP and an atherogenic lipid profile in patients with MS support the presence of systemic metabolic and inflammatory components in the disease. The independent association between AIP and MS supports the presence of systemic metabolic and inflammatory components in the disease. However, the lack of association between AIP and EDSS suggests that AIP may reflect systemic inflammation and metabolic burden rather than clinical disability. The limited impact of DMTs on lipid profiles indicates that the observed metabolic alterations may be primarily disease-related. Further large-scale prospective studies are warranted to clarify the clinical utility of AIP in MS.

- Multiomics landscape of systemic sclerosis: from autoantibody-positivity to established disease. [Journal Article]Ann Rheum Dis. 2026 Sep 22. [Online ahead of print]AR
- CONCLUSIONS: Molecular abnormalities associated with SSc are detectable before overt clinical disease. Multiomics profiling identifies circulating immune, vascular-associated, and profibrotic molecular features across the SSc disease severity spectrum and provides a framework for molecular characterisation and risk stratification.

- Infectious comorbidities in pregnant patients with rheumatic diseases. [Review]Rheumatol Int. 2026 Oct 09; 46(10).RI
- Pregnancy fundamentally reshapes maternal immunity, creating a state of immune tolerance that simultaneously increases susceptibility to infections. In women with rheumatic diseases (RDs), this vulnerability is further amplified by underlying autoimmune dysregulation and immunosuppressive therapies. Infectious comorbidities in this population represent a major challenge as they may precipitate rh…

- Clinical profile of pulmonary involvement in rheumatological disorders: a cross-sectional study in a rheumatology-associated lung disease clinic. [Journal Article]Monaldi Arch Chest Dis. 2026 Oct 08. [Online ahead of print]MA
- Rheumatological diseases (RDs) are characterized by autoimmune-mediated organ damage, with the lungs being an important target organ. Almost all compartments of the pulmonary system may be involved, with considerable heterogeneity in the frequency, severity, and spectrum of pulmonary manifestations. This heterogeneity may result in delayed diagnosis and treatment, leading to adverse outcomes. The…

- IL-13 and skin fibrosis in inflammatory skin diseases. [Review]Front Immunol. 2026; 17:1974049.FI
- Skin fibrosis is increasingly recognized as an important component of chronic inflammatory skin diseases, contributing to dermal thickening, tissue stiffness, and persistent functional impairment. Although transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β) has long been considered the central mediator of fibrosis, accumulating evidence indicates that interleukin-13 (IL-13), a key cytokine of type 2 immunity, p…

- CONCLUSIONS: Reduced FEF50 is relatively frequent in SARDs, including patients without overt obstructive or interstitial lung disease. Its association with specific clinical, biological and radiological features suggests that reduced FEF50 may reflect distinct airway abnormalities that warrant further investigation.

- Tolerogenic dendritic cell (tolDC) vaccines are a promising antigen-specific therapy for multiple sclerosis (MS), yet their efficacy is limited by poor homing to secondary lymphoid organs and rapid loss of the tolerogenic phenotype in native inflamed lymph nodes. Here, we developed a 3D-printed tolerogenic artificial lymph node (tol-aLN) that creates a protected immune niche for durable tolerance…
