- Infliximab Serum Level Assessment After Switching from Intravenous to Subcutaneous Administration: The ISLASIS Study. [Journal Article]Clin Exp Gastroenterol. 2026; 19:633963.CE
- CONCLUSIONS: Transition from IV-IFX to SC-IFX was associated with rapid and sustained increases in trough concentrations, reductions in fecal calprotectin, and favorable changes in clinical activity scores. These findings should be interpreted in light of the small sample size and the upper measurement limit of the infliximab assay.

- Xanthogranulomatous Pyelonephritis in a Horseshoe Kidney: Effective Conservative Therapy in an Immunocompromised Patient. [Case Reports]Cureus. 2026 Sep; 18(9):e116028.C
- Xanthogranulomatous pyelonephritis (XGPN) is a rare, chronic granulomatous inflammation that leads to diffuse destruction of the renal parenchyma. This destructive process may be so profound as to infiltrate surrounding tissues and viscera. Although nephrectomy remains the most common option for managing XGPN in adults, we report a case of XGPN in a horseshoe kidney of a 27-year-old woman on acti…

- Clinical Characteristics of Patients Presenting with Moderate-to-Severe Atopic Dermatitis and Concomitant Inflammatory Bowel Diseases: a Multicenter Retrospective Study. [Journal Article]Dermatol Pract Concept. 2026 Jul 31; 16(3).DP
- CONCLUSIONS: IBD is not frequent in AD patients, but the prevalence seems to be higher compared to the general population. AD occurring with IBD had a typical clinical presentation. Interestingly, occurrence of AD preceded IBD onset in most patients, putting dermatologists in the position to make early IBD diagnosis. However, no direct causal relationship can be drawn from these findings. Larger, controlled prospective studies are needed to clarify the relationship between AD and IBD.

- Challenges and opportunities facing inflammatory bowel disease in Sub-Saharan Africa: towards a contextually relevant research and practice agenda. [Journal Article]J Crohns Colitis. 2026 Oct 09; 20(10).JC
- Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), comprising Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, has traditionally been considered a disease of Western, industrialized countries. Over the past few decades, however, many Sub-Saharan African (SSA) countries have experienced significant increases in cases. Yet, IBD remains highly neglected in SSA with most research conducted in high-income settings and treatmen…

- Unraveling the Clinical Puzzle of Cerebral Venous Sinus Thrombosis in Ulcerative Colitis: Insights from a Systematic Review. [Review]Asian J Neurosurg. 2026 Dec; 21(4):658-665.AJ
- Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a chronic inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) that primarily affects the colon. Among its extraintestinal complications, cerebral venous sinus thrombosis (CVST) is a rare yet potentially life-threatening emergency that can manifest as headaches, seizures, and/or neurological deficits. This review aims to characterize the clinical presentation, diagnostic modalities, and ma…

- A full-thickness spatial transcriptomics atlas of medically refractory ulcerative colitis identifies niche signatures associated with biologic non-response. [Journal Article]Front Immunol. 2026; 17:1929046.FI
- CONCLUSIONS: Together, this full-thickness atlas defines the spatial immune ecosystem of refractory UC - neutrophil niches, TLS and plasma-cell survival programmes - and yields cellular-niche signatures reproducibly associated with treatment outcome across drug classes, providing an immunologically grounded framework that may inform biologic selection, pending prospective validation.

- A rare case of lesser omental hernia in a male patient following total colectomy. [Case Reports]Int J Surg Case Rep. 2026 Oct; 138(10):4047-4050.IJ
- CONCLUSIONS: A lesser omental hernia can occur after total colectomy. CT imaging is valuable for diagnosis, and surgical intervention is often required.

- Proanthocyanidins in immune-mediated inflammatory diseases: molecular mechanisms and therapeutic potential. [Review]Front Pharmacol. 2026; 17:1958407.FP
- Immune-mediated inflammatory diseases (IMIDs), a heterogeneous group of disorders, are characterized by chronic inflammation and subsequent organ damage, encompassing diverse conditions like atopic dermatitis (AD), inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) - which includes Crohn's disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC), psoriasis, rheumatoid arthritis (RA), and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). - Ocular safety signals of sphingosine-1-phosphate receptor modulators in postmarketing surveillance. [Journal Article]Front Pharmacol. 2026; 17:1908773.FP
- CONCLUSIONS: Macular/retinal oedema was the most consistent ocular reporting pattern in the S1P receptor modulator class. The association remained evident after phenotype aggregation and indication-restricted analysis and was also observed in Canada Vigilance. Sparse data for newer agents and residual confounding limit comparative interpretation.

- Fatigue burden and patient attribution across remission states in inflammatory bowel disease: a longitudinal cohort study. [Journal Article]Crohns Colitis 360. 2026 Oct; 8(4):otag109.CC
- CONCLUSIONS: Remission was associated with lower fatigue burden, and patients in objective remission were less likely to attribute fatigue to IBD. These observational findings support assessing inflammatory disease control early in the evaluation of fatigue while also evaluating sleep, mood, anemia, pain, medications, and other non-inflammatory contributors.

- Magnetic resonance enterography (MRE) is a key noninvasive imaging modality for the diagnosis and longitudinal assessment of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), particularly Crohn's disease. The global burden of IBD is increasing, with millions affected in North America and Europe and rapidly rising incidence in Asia and Africa. Standardized acquisition protocols improve consistency and diagnostic …
