- Paricalcitol Attenuates Bleomycin-induced Pulmonary Fibrosis: Insights from Immunohistochemical and Molecular Genetic Analysis. [Journal Article]Endocr Metab Immune Disord Drug Targets. 2026; 26:e18715303434362.EM
- CONCLUSIONS: Paricalcitol markedly reduces fibrosis severity, as shown through histopathological, immunohistochemical, and molecular genetic analyses. The treatment decreased the expression of key fibrotic and inflammatory markers, including TGF-β, MMP9, IL-1β, and TNF-α, and shifted macrophage polarization toward an anti-inflammatory M2 phenotype. These findings suggest paricalcitol's potential in modulating the immune response and highlight its therapeutic promise.

- Efficacy and Safety of Paricalcitol Therapy for Kidney Transplantation Recipients: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials. [Journal Article]Transplant Proc. 2026 Sep 16. [Online ahead of print]TP
- CONCLUSIONS: Paricalcitol lowers short-term parathyroid hormone but increases serum calcium and hypercalcemia risk. Evidence for proteinuria, rejection, graft survival, and patient outcomes remains insufficient because the trials were few, heterogeneous, and short.

- Vitamin D Pathway Activation Reduces Cardiomyocyte DNA Damage and Improves Cardiac Contractility in Preclinical Models. [Journal Article]JACC Adv. 2026 Sep 02; :103199. [Online ahead of print]JA
- CONCLUSIONS: Vitamin D pathway activation improved contractile phenotypes across complementary preclinical models and was accompanied by reduced γH2AX foci or related transcriptional changes. These findings support further mechanistic and preclinical investigation.

- Cost-effectiveness analysis comparison of etelcalcetide, paricalcitol, and cinacalcet for the treatment of secondary hyperparathyroidism in patients with chronic kidney disease. [Journal Article]Expert Rev Pharmacoecon Outcomes Res. 2026 Aug 17; :1-10. [Online ahead of print]ER
- CONCLUSIONS: The optimal pharmacological strategy for SHPT depends on the WTP threshold. Cinacalcet is preferred at lower WTP levels, while etelcalcetide offers superior cost-effectiveness at higher WTP.

- Intravenous Paricalcitol Versus Calcitriol for Secondary Hyperparathyroidism in Maintenance Hemodialysis: A Six-Month Single-Center Retrospective Cohort Study. [Journal Article]J Clin Med. 2026 Jul 13; 15(14).JC
- Background/Objectives: Secondary hyperparathyroidism is a frequent component of chronic kidney disease-mineral and bone disorder in maintenance hemodialysis. Calcitriol and paricalcitol are used to suppress intact parathyroid hormone (iPTH), but the comparative advantage of paricalcitol in routine practice remains uncertain. This study compared 6-month biochemical PTH control in patients treated …

- CONCLUSIONS: A putative epigenetic relation was found between miR-124 levels and their association with SIRT1. The investigated biomarkers of aging are associated with serum concentration of 25(OH) vitamin D in a middle-aged vitamin D-deficient rat model, which supports the need for mechanistic investigation in future studies.

- Recurrent Calciphylaxis With Discordant Parathyroid Hormone Trajectory in a Patient With HIV-Associated End-Stage Renal Disease: A Case Report. [Case Reports]Cureus. 2026 May; 18(5):e109881.C
- Calciphylaxis, also termed calcific uremic arteriolopathy, is a rare and devastating complication of end-stage renal disease (ESRD). Its occurrence in patients with HIV-associated ESRD is sparsely characterized in the literature. We report a 36-year-old African American woman with ESRD secondary to longstanding hypertension and virologically suppressed HIV infection (CD4 count 348 cells/μL) who d…

- Stage-dependent association of Vitamin D receptor with macrophage polarization in allergic rhinitis. [Journal Article]Biochim Biophys Acta Gen Subj. 2026 Sep; 1870(9):130965.BB
- CONCLUSIONS: VDR signaling is associated with stage-dependent immunomodulation in AR, promoting M2-like molecules expression during sensitization and suppressing M1 like driven inflammation during re-challenge, thereby weakening effects in the chronic phase. These findings support a "chronotherapeutic" application of VitD in AR.

- Targeted therapeutics for pancreatitis. [Review]Front Physiol. 2026; 17:1795419.FP
- CONCLUSIONS: The current targeted therapeutic landscape in pancreatitis is promising, but difficulties lie in trial enrichment as the timing of drug administration is critically dependent on the timeline of disease. Therefore, progress will depend on matching treatment timing to target biology, identifying patients using practical early severity and inflammatory features, and using endpoints that reflect disease modification (organ failure, necrosis, recurrence, fibrosis progression, pancreatic function, and pain trajectories). Trial designs matching these therapeutics to their target biology will help understand the real clinical value of mechanism-based regimens across the AP-RAP-CP continuum.
