- Comparative efficacy and safety of antiemetics for pediatric gastroenteritis-related vomiting in emergency departments: a network meta-analysis. [Review]Curr Med Res Opin. 2026 Oct 04; :1-18. [Online ahead of print]CM
- CONCLUSIONS: Ondansetron provides the most consistent benefit for acute vomiting control and reducing IV fluid use in pediatric AGE, while dimenhydrinate may support longer-term symptom control.

- Effects of Ciprofol- versus Remimazolam-Based Total Intravenous Anesthesia on Postoperative Nausea and Vomiting After Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy: A Randomized Controlled Trial. [Randomized Controlled Trial]Drug Des Devel Ther. 2026; 20:624552.DD
- CONCLUSIONS: Under a standardized prophylactic antiemetic protocol, ciprofol-based total intravenous anesthesia was associated with a lower 24-h incidence of PONV than remimazolam-based anesthesia in adults undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy. No statistically significant between-group differences were observed in postoperative recovery measures, adverse events, or vasopressor use; however, the trial was not powered to establish equivalence for these secondary or safety outcomes. Further multicenter studies are needed to confirm the robustness and generalizability of this finding across different multimodal antiemetic strategies.

- To Interrupt or Not to Interrupt? A Case-Based Survey on Physician Management of Breastfeeding After Radiological Imaging and Medication in the Emergency Department. [Journal Article]Breastfeed Med. 2026 Sep 30; :15568253261492475. [Online ahead of print]BM
- CONCLUSIONS: Emergency physicians, despite frequently encountering breastfeeding mothers, may show variability in their knowledge, attitudes, and clinical approaches to the management of breastfeeding patients. On the other hand, a higher level of knowledge among residents and specialists suggests that specialist training can be effective in ensuring correct clinical practice. Increasing access to guidelines and integrating evidence-based breastfeeding education into specialist training curricula, including medical school curricula, can improve clinical decision-making processes and prevent unnecessary interventions in breastfeeding.

- From Real World Data to Real Impact: A Co-Medication Framework for Lung Cancer to Advance DDI Assessment and Patient-Centric Drug Development. [Journal Article]
- Lung cancer predominantly affects older adults who already experience comorbidities and are at increased risk of drug-drug interactions (DDIs) due to polypharmacy. Traditional DDI assessments often do not fully capture complex co-medication patterns observed in real-world practice due to the risk of introducing confounding factors. This study used U.S. Optum claims data from 2019 to 2024 to chara…

- Deviations From Recommended Drug Dosing in the Prehospital Treatment of Pediatric Patients. [Journal Article]Prehosp Emerg Care. 2026 Sep 29; :1-15. [Online ahead of print]PE
- CONCLUSIONS: We observed DRDs to be common in the prehospital treatment of children, and they varied by medication and route. Possible latent sources of error include protocol design, medication formularies, and heuristics. The clinical significance of DRDs is uncertain.

- Triage Administration of Ondansetron for Gastroenteritis in Children: A Randomized Controlled Trial. [Journal Article]Pediatr Emerg Care. 2026 Sep 24. [Online ahead of print]PE
- CONCLUSIONS: This trial failed to show an impact of triage nurse-initiated ondansetron administration in children with presumed gastroenteritis. Although underpowered to assess any outcome, our results could inform researchers planning larger trials.

- Age-Related Decreases in Colonic Neurokinin A Content and Release Monitored Using Electrochemical Immunosensors. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Reduced NKA release with aging is associated with lower tissue content. The electrochemical immunosensor provides a simple, cost-effective method for NKA quantification and could be adapted for other gastrointestinal neuropeptides. The decrease in fecal NKA levels supports further investigation of fecal NKA as a noninvasive marker of age-related changes in bowel function.

- Implementation and Preliminary Evaluation of an Intravenous Ketamine Protocol for Psychiatric Conditions in Medical and Surgical Units: A One-Year Pilot Study. [Journal Article]J Acad Consult Liaison Psychiatry. 2026 Sep 21. [Online ahead of print]JA
- CONCLUSIONS: A capped-rate IV ketamine protocol tailored for psychiatry was feasibly delivered on general medical and surgical floors. The protocol integrated into existing C-L workflows and may serve as a scalable model for expanding access to rapid-acting psychiatric intervention in medically ill populations.

- Stability Evaluation of Compounded Multidrug Oral Liquids in a Dual-Vehicle Suspending System. [Journal Article]Int J Pharm Compd. 2026 Jul-Aug; 30(4):379-391.IJ
- Extemporaneously compounded oral liquids are essential for patients unable to swallow solid dosage forms, although ensuring stability in aqueous systems remains challenging. This study evaluated the chemical, physical, and microbiological stability of formulations containing topiramate, omeprazole, gabapentin, ondansetron, and levofloxacin prepared in Flavor Sweet™ SF and Flavor Plus™, also known…
- Antiemetic-Associated QT Prolongation: A Clinical Review and Risk-Stratified Prescribing Framework for Long QT Syndrome. [Journal Article]Eur Heart J Cardiovasc Pharmacother. 2026 Sep 16. [Online ahead of print]EH
- CONCLUSIONS: Antiemetic-associated arrhythmia is largely preventable. Structured risk assessment, electrolyte correction, ECG monitoring, and a stepwise selection strategy favouring agents with minimal QT liability allow clinicians to manage nausea and vomiting safely, even in high-risk populations.
