- Food Addiction Symptoms in Adults with Alcohol Use Disorder. [Journal Article]medRxiv. 2026 Aug 12.M
- CONCLUSIONS: FA was common among adults with AUD and was associated with greater psychological, behavioral, and metabolic burden regardless of treatment-seeking status. These findings suggest that FA identifies a clinically meaningful subgroup of individuals with AUD who may benefit from more comprehensive assessment and integrated treatment approaches.

- Myxobolus binotati n. sp. (Myxozoa: Myxobolidae) from the ovaries of spotted barb, Barbodes binotatus (Valenciennes, 1842) in Terengganu, Malaysia. [Journal Article]
- To date, only 14 species have been reported worldwide from the ovaries of fish hosts. In the present study, a novel species, Myxobolus binotati n. sp., was described from the ovary of Barbodes binotatus. Spores were oval in frontal view and lemon-shaped in sutural view, measuring 10.7 × 8.3 × 6.2 μm. They possessed two unequal pyriform polar capsules, with larger measuring 4.8 ± 0.4 (4.0-5.8) μm …

- Histologic Features and Clinical Outcomes of Lean Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatotic Liver Disease. [Journal Article]JAMA. 2026 Sep 30. [Online ahead of print]JAMA
- CONCLUSIONS: Lean MASLD represents a distinct phenotype with milder histologic disease but similar clinical outcomes compared with overweight/obese MASLD. Fibrosis severity, rather than body composition, was associated with prognosis and LSM was reliable in lean individuals.

- Seeing Angiogenesis: Multiparametric Ultrasound as a Non-Invasive Window into the Vascularization Status of Cervical Lymph Nodes in Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma. [Review]
- Cervical lymph node status is the single most important prognostic determinant in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC), yet conventional gray-scale ultrasound relies on morphological criteria that only indirectly reflect the underlying biological process driving nodal progression: tumor angiogenesis. This narrative review focuses specifically on cervical lymph nodes and examines whether …

- From Bits to Bedside: From Data to Knowledge in Vascular Surgery. [Review]
- The Data-Information-Knowledge (DIK) hierarchy describes how clinical observations are progressively transformed into actionable knowledge. Although digital technologies are beginning to reshape vascular surgery, their impact is often discussed in isolation rather than as components of a continuous knowledge-generation process. This narrative review applies the DIK framework to examine how recent…

- Natural Antioxidants Enhance Post-Thaw Sperm Quality and Fertilization Performance in Javaen Barb (Systomus rubripinnis). [Journal Article]
- The freeze-thaw process in sperm cryopreservation generates reactive oxygen species (ROS) that impair motility, viability, and fertilizing capacity in fish, including the Javaen barb (Systomus rubripinnis), an endemic Indonesian cyprinid of conservation concern. Cryopreservation underpins gene bank development for aquatic genetic resources and supports biodiversity conservation alongside hatchery…

- Mechanical Characterization and Ex Vivo Evaluation of a Novel Constraining Device for Safe Endovascular Endograft Explantation. [Journal Article]Ann Vasc Surg. 2026 Sep 25. [Online ahead of print]AV
- CONCLUSIONS: The EVAx demonstrates early feasibility in ex vivo testing for safe suprarenal endograft constrainment, with reproducible benchtop performance and reduced aortic wall trauma compared with the modified syringe technique. These results offer promise of reduced aortic wall trauma utilizing the EVAx, a disease-specific device for endograft removal.

- Mitogenomic Insights into the Tinfoil Barb Barbonymus schwanefeldii from Sumatra, Indonesia: Structural Features, Selective Pressure, Genetic Diversity, and Phylogenetic Placement. [Journal Article]
- Prior to this study, the mitogenomic characterization, genetic diversity, and phylogenetic placement of the Tinfoil Barb Barbonymus schwanefeldii remained largely unexplored, despite its notable ecological and economic importance. Hence, this study aimed to provide the first in-depth insight into the mitogenomic features of this species from its native range in Sumatra, Indonesia. The generated m…

- StatPearls: Stingray Sting [BOOK]StatPearls. StatPearls Publishing: Treasure Island (FL).BOOK
- Stingrays are a subset of the cartilaginous fish commonly known as rays, which belong to the class Chondrichthyes that also includes sharks and skates. All rays share a flat body with enlarged pectoral fins permanently fused to the head. The mouth is located on the ventral surface. The tail is the most dangerous anatomical feature because of the spinal blade, also known as the stinger or barb (se…
- Bird feathers from a Late Cretaceous coprolite. [Journal Article]Curr Biol. 2026 Oct 05; 36(19):5107-5116.e7.CB
- Fossilized feathers are rare, yet critical for understanding the evolution of flight in pennaraptoran dinosaurs and the appearance of crown birds in the Late Cretaceous.[1][,][2] Feathers associated with skeletal remains are abundant in several Lower Cretaceous Lagerstätten[3][,][4][,][5] but nearly absent from Upper Cretaceous deposits.[6][,][7] As such, the evolution of avian feathers close to …

- Within- and between-visit variability and reproducibility of the oral microbiome in young adults with alcohol use disorder. [Randomized Controlled Trial]Alcohol. 2026 Nov; 136:42-55.A
- CONCLUSIONS: Despite group-level microbial shifts within-visit, individual-level microbial features were generally reproducible both within (∼4 h) and between (∼25 days) visits. No systematic group-level differences were detected between-visits. These findings support the use of the oral microbiome in AUD research while emphasizing the importance of longitudinal designs and accounting for recent exposures.

- Retained Stingray Barb in the Sole of the Foot. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Stingray injuries are among the most common marine vertebrate envenomations and should not be regarded as simple puncture wounds when retained foreign body is suspected. This case highlights that even when a stingray barb is externally obvious, internal fragmentation may alter procedural planning. Radiography can reveal retained fragments, and additional imaging may be useful when injury depth is uncertain.

- The stability of fatty acid composition in sunflower oil is dependent on environment and affected by structural variation. [Journal Article]
- In sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.), the composition of fatty acids in the seeds, primarily oleic, linoleic, stearic and palmitic acid, is of utmost importance for oil quality. Despite this, the genetic basis of this trait and its interaction with the environment is poorly understood. Understanding this interaction is critical to improvement of sunflower within the context of climate change. In t…

- Leishmania spp. infection in horses in an endemic area of canine leishmaniosis (north-western Algeria). [Journal Article]Res Vet Sci. 2026 Nov; 211:106365.RV
- Leishmaniosis is a parasitic disease caused by obligate intracellular protozoa of the genus Leishmania. It affects humans, canids, and rodents in endemic areas and is transmitted through the bites of infected sand flies. This study aimed to estimate the prevalence of equine leishmaniosis in horses from Tiaret Province, northwestern Algeria, an area endemic for canine leishmaniosis, and to identif…
