- Early Adverse Perinatal Outcomes Among Women With Placental Abruption: A Multicenter Prospective Cohort Study in Uganda. [Multicenter Study]
- CONCLUSIONS: Women with placental abruption experienced a high burden of early adverse perinatal outcomes. Abnormal fetal heart rate at admission, mode of delivery, and extent of placental detachment were independently associated with these outcomes. These findings highlight the importance of timely diagnosis, close fetal monitoring, and prompt obstetric management among women presenting with placental abruption.

- Airway Emergency in a Primigravida Associated With Paradoxical Vocal Fold Motion and Placental Abruption Leading to Emergent Cesarean Delivery: A Case Report. [Case Reports]
- BACKGROUND Paradoxical vocal fold motion disorder (PVFM) is a rare condition consisting of episodic upper airway obstruction, resulting in recurrent stridor and respiratory distress. Limited data exists regarding its presentation, implications, and consequences during pregnancy. In this report, we present the case of a 23-year-old primigravida woman with known PVFM and recurrent stridor who devel…

- Pre-Pregnancy and Early-Pregnancy Risk Factors for Placental Abruption: A Nationwide Retrospective Cohort Study in Japan. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Established maternal vascular and obstetric risk factors were associated with placental abruption and largely shared across subtypes defined by IUFD status. Abnormal umbilical cord insertion was also associated with abruption, suggesting that abnormal placental development may be related to the pathogenesis of this condition.

- Rapid Improvement in Cerebral Palsy Following Treatment With Perispinal Etanercept: A Case Report. [Case Reports]
- Etanercept, a selective inhibitor of the cytokine tumor necrosis factor (TNF), delivered by perispinal administration, has been used clinically for 15 years to treat chronic, intractable, post-stroke and post-brain injury neurological dysfunction. We report the case of a 19-year-old patient with cerebral palsy (CP) who experienced rapid and sustained neurological improvement after treatment with …

- Development and validation of a predictive risk model for placental abruption in women with pre-eclampsia using SMOTE. [Journal Article]Afr J Reprod Health. 2026 Aug 03; 30(14).AJ
- Placental abruption is a serious complication in pregnant women with preeclampsia. This study investigated the risk factors for placental abruption and developed a predictive model using the Synthetic Minority Over-sampling Technique (SMOTE). A total of 280 pregnant women with preeclampsia treated between September 2020 and September 2025 were enrolled and classified into placental abruption and …

- Predictors of blood product transfusion in placental abruption with low neonatal apgar scores: A retrospective cohort study. [Journal Article]Medicine (Baltimore). 2026 Jul 24; 105(30):e49819.M
- Placental abruption accompanied by low neonatal Apgar scores represents a clinically important subgroup with a potential maternal hemorrhagic risk. Evidence remains limited regarding the factors associated with blood product transfusions in these patients. This study aimed to identify clinical and laboratory factors associated with transfusion in women with placental abruption and low neonatal Ap…

- Nationwide Population-Based Cohort Study of Advanced Maternal Age and Obstetric Outcomes in Korean Women: Retrospective Cohort Study. [Journal Article]J Korean Med Sci. 2026 Jul 13; 41(27):e170.JK
- CONCLUSIONS: This nationwide study defined the cut-off age for advanced maternal age in Korean women, showing that obstetric risks begin to increase in the early 30s. These population-specific thresholds may help guide clinical practice and improve maternal and perinatal outcomes.

- Impact of systemic autoimmune diseases in maternal, fetal and neonatal outcomes in Spain. [Journal Article]Rheumatology (Oxford). 2026 Jun 30; 65(7).R
- CONCLUSIONS: Pregnancies affected by autoimmune disease exhibit distinct, disease-specific patterns of hypertensive, maternal and foetal/neonatal risk, with the most consistently elevated risks observed in SLE, APS (especially secondary) and MCTD. These comparative estimates may support risk-stratified, guideline-concordant care and inform counseling, surveillance and delivery planning, with explicit consideration of comorbidity burden.

- Perinatal palliative care in a patient with antenatal fetal death due to severe preeclampsia with placental abruption. [Case Reports]Ceska Gynekol. 2026; 91(3):198-201.CG
- A 37-year-old nulliparous woman was admitted to the hospital for mild bleeding. Intrauterine fetal death and placental abruption were diagnosed. The patient had a severe form of preeclampsia associated with fetal growth restriction and anuric renal failure. The delivery was associated with significant blood loss. Immediately after the termination of pregnancy by emergency caesarean section, the p…

- Impact of Maternal Risk Stratification on Clinical Characteristics and Perinatal Outcomes in Singleton Pregnancies With Preeclampsia. [Journal Article]
- This retrospective study of 4143 women at Fujian Maternal and Child Health Hospital (2012-2022) investigated how maternal risk levels influence clinical characteristics and perinatal outcomes in singleton pregnancies complicated by preeclampsia. Utilizing class-imbalance-adjusted and random forest algorithms, participants were stratified into high-risk (17.38%), moderate-risk (34.08%), and low-ri…

- Maternal-fetal outcomes following a motor-vehicle crash: Systematic review and meta-analysis. [Systematic Review]Taiwan J Obstet Gynecol. 2026 Jul; 65(4):665-671.TJ
- Adverse outcomes after motor-vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death among individuals aged 5-29 years. The objective was to assess the risks of maternal and fetal complications associated with traffic accidents during pregnancy. This systematic review and meta-analysis included searches in PubMed, MEDLINE, EMBASE, LILACS, SciELO, Scopus, and COCHRANE databases up to February 2024, focusin…

- Disseminated intravascular coagulopathy in pregnancy: lessons from an international registry of the International Society for Thrombosis and Hemostasis: communication from the SSC of the ISTH. [Practice Guideline]
- Disseminated intravascular coagulopathy (DIC) in pregnancy is a severe maternal morbidity that is associated with short- and long-term complications. However, information regarding the causes of DIC treatments and outcomes in pregnancy is based on local reports. To address this gap, 2 Scientific and Standardization Committees, the Women's Health Issues in Thrombosis and Hemostasis and Disseminate…

- Pregnancy placental syndromes, including preeclampsia, fetal growth restriction, placental abruption, and placental-related stillbirth, are major contributors to maternal and perinatal morbidity worldwide. Beyond their immediate obstetric impact, these conditions are increasingly recognized as sentinel events that unmask underlying maternal susceptibility to chronic disease. This narrative review…
