- Clinical Outcomes of an Improved Arthroscopic Suture-Bridge Technique Assisted by a "5 O'clock" Portal for Acute Bony Bankart Lesions. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: The modified suture-bridge technique using a "5 o'clock" accessory portal is a reliable and reproducible method for treating acute bony Bankart lesions. This approach achieves anatomical fracture reduction and yields excellent mid-term clinical and radiological outcomes with a low risk of complications.

- The cytokine structural homologs IL-1β and IL-1Ra have distinct dynamical character that potentially influence their roles in allosteric regulation of the IL-1 receptor. [Journal Article]bioRxiv. 2026 Sep 14.B
- Interleukin-1β (IL-1β) and the interleukin-1 receptor antagonist (IL-1Ra) share the β-trefoil fold, engage the same receptor (IL-1R), but produce opposite biological outcomes. IL-1β recruits the accessory protein IL-1RAcP to initiate inflammatory signaling while IL-1Ra occupies the receptor without supporting co-receptor recruitment. Seeking the origin of this divergence in properties not apparen…

- Arthroscopic Supraspinatus Tendon Reconstruction Using Hybrid LARS-Fascia Lata Graft for Irreparable Posterosuperior Massive Rotator Cuff Tears. [Journal Article]
- Conventional techniques for repairing an irreparable posterosuperior massive rotator cuff tear (MRCT) typically fail[1,2]. The supraspinatus tendon reconstruction (STR) technique offers a systematic approach to achieve both anatomic restoration and functional recovery of the supraspinatus tendon[1]. The use of autografts for reconstruction is challenged by their limited availability, inadequate d…

- Decoding TnsC Filament Assembly in CRISPR-Associated Transposons Using Interpretable Deep Learning and Molecular Simulations. [Journal Article]J Am Chem Soc. 2026 Sep 02; 148(34):36530-36544.JA
- CRISPR-associated transposons (CASTs) enable programmable DNA integration, yet how the TnsC regulator forms processive filaments on DNA to coordinate RNA-guided transposition in type V-K CAST systems remains unknown. Here, we integrate large-scale molecular simulations, interpretable deep learning using graph attention networks (GATs), and causal inference analyses to define the molecular determi…

- Systolic anterior motion of mitral valve leaflet following accessory pathway ablation in a patient without hypertrophic cardiomyopathy: a case report. [Case Reports]
- CONCLUSIONS: Although SAM of the mitral valve leaflet rarely occurs following accessory ablation, it could induce deleterious consequences. We hypothesized that the coexistence of a sigmoid septum and a small ventricular cavity may increase the risk for functional outflow tract obstruction after accessory pathway ablation.

- Automated monitoring of insects system: building a non-lethal and scalable solution for monitoring of nocturnal insects. [Journal Article]
- There is growing evidence that human-induced climate change and habitat loss are having negative impacts on insect populations. New technologies have a vital role in improving and expanding global biodiversity monitoring capacity to understand where change is happening and to support restoration. Monitoring of insects traditionally needs entomologists in the field, but insect camera traps powered…

- Simulation of the Formation of Electric Double Layers at PE/Cu Interfaces and Its Impact on Charge Transfer Phenomena. [Journal Article]
- The electric double layer (EDL) at the copper/polyethylene (Cu/PE) interface critically affects space charge injection and insulation performance of high-voltage cables and their accessories, yet its molecular-level regulation remains unclear. This study systematically investigates the effects of different EDL structures on the potential distribution and interfacial barrier at the Cu/PE interface…

- Bilateral Congenitally Absent Trapezius Musculature and Anomalous Scapuloclavicular Accessory Muscle: A Case Report. [Case Reports]JBJS Case Connect. 2026 Jul 01; 16(3).JC
- CONCLUSIONS: This case represents the only known report of bilateral absent trapezius muscles without involvement of other trunk musculature or congenital abnormalities. In addition, the patient exhibited a previously unidentified anomalous muscle.

- Accessory Meniscus Causing Medial Knee Impingement. [Journal Article]Ann Afr Med. 2026 Aug 04. [Online ahead of print]AA
- Accessory meniscal tissue is a rare anatomical variant of the knee and may present with mechanical symptoms when it impinges between the femoral condyle and tibial plateau. We report a 23-year-old female with right knee pain, intermittent catching, and medial joint-line tenderness following a twisting injury of 2 months duration. Radiographs were unremarkable. Magnetic resonance imaging suggested…

- Beyond Facets, Beyond Dogma: Endoscopically Directly Visualized Medial Branch Transection for the Axial-Radicular Pain Spectrum. [Journal Article]Int J Spine Surg. 2026 Jul 31. [Online ahead of print]IJ
- CONCLUSIONS: Directly visualized endoscopic interruption of medial branch and related dorsal ramus tributaries is a surgical procedure with verified anatomic access under endoscopic visualization and should be distinguished from needle-based fluoroscopic radiofrequency lesioning when interpreting technique, reach, outcomes, and risk. Within a restricted, auditable selection framework requiring functional confirmation and defined safety boundaries, it may serve as a motion-preserving, escalation-friendly option in selected DRG-dominant axial-radiating pain phenotypes, while preserving escalation pathways to decompression or fusion when structural progression becomes dominant.

- Probing the content of semantic representations in body-selective regions. [Journal Article]
- Recent advances in neural networks trained on natural language have revealed that category-selective regions encode complex semantics and contextual information of natural scenes in addition to object categories. However, the limited interpretability of embeddings derived from these models complicates the characterization of the aspects of natural scenes that contribute to such semantic represent…

- Outcomes From Radial Fascicular Nerve Transfers Including Extensor Carpi Radialis Longus to Triceps for Elbow Extension. [Journal Article]Microsurgery. 2026 Jul; 46(5):e70272.M
- CONCLUSIONS: Radial fascicular transfers using ECRL donor fibers direct to triceps nerves represent a safe and effective surgical technique for the restoration of elbow extension. As demonstrated in these 4 consecutive successful cases, patients with brachial plexus palsy including triceps palsy with preserved function in wrist extensors warrant consideration for this technique.

- Temporally segregated functions for Gfi1 in the development and maintenance of direction selectivity in the vertebrate retina. [Journal Article]
- Retinal direction selectivity is a vital component of many visual functions, including motion processing and gaze stabilization. Direction selectivity emerges from specialized retinal ganglion cells (RGCs) that encode motion along a single preferred direction. In the mouse retina, direction-selective (DS) RGC (DSGC) subtypes are quite diverse, but little is known about the genetic programs requir…

- The mechanotransduction channel Piezo2 refines axonal projections to the accessory optic system and regulates the optokinetic reflex. [Journal Article]
- The optokinetic reflex (OKR) is an evolutionarily conserved reflexive behavior that ensures image stabilization on the retina during global motion. It consists of smooth eye tracking movements in the direction of the moving stimulus interspersed with rapid resetting saccades. This reflex is driven by retinal ON direction-selective ganglion cells (oDSGCs), which comprise distinct subtypes tuned ei…
