- End processing in NHEJ by Polymerase λ and PNKP is coordinated during short-range synapsis. [Journal Article]Nat Commun. 2026 Sep 09; 17(1).NC
- Non-homologous end joining (NHEJ) is a major pathway of DNA double strand break (DSB) repair, capable of directly joining both damaged strands of DNA through the coordinated activities of repair factors that detect the termini, physically bridge them together, and perform the chemistry necessary to complete repair. NHEJ is capable of repairing a variety of damaged DNA, employing various accessory…

- Clinical and imaging differentiation of intrapancreatic accessory spleen from pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor and solid-pseudopapillary tumor: a retrospective analysis. [Journal Article]Front Surg. 2026; 13:1943757.FS
- CONCLUSIONS: For lesions located in the pancreatic tail, adjacent to the spleen, and exhibiting heterogeneous enhancement in the arterial phase, the possibility of IPAS should be thoroughly considered. Nevertheless, surgical resection remains rational and appropriate when preoperative evaluation cannot completely exclude the possibility of PNET, SPT, or other pancreatic lesions.

- Anatomy of the radial recurrent artery at the entrance of the supinator canal and its relevance to decompression of the deep branch of the radial nerve. [Journal Article]Ann Anat. 2026 Oct 07; 269:153389. [Online ahead of print]AA
- CONCLUSIONS: The RRA, including LoH, features variable anatomy at the entrance of the supinator canal, making several topographical arrangements potentially prone to cause DBRN compression. Despite this variability, consistent anatomical features, such as the presence of at least one arterial branch crossing superficial to the DBRN, were identified.

- How I do it. Foramen magnum meningiomas. Surgical tenets for a unique pathology of a transition zone. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Proper extradural preparation, early cerebrospinal fluid drainage, sectioning of dentate ligament, working between the nerve rootlets from caudal to rostral and from lateral to medial can enhance the safety and extent of resection.

- Rare Presentation of Synchronous Accessory Breast Carcinoma in Abdominal Wall - A Case Report and Review of the Literature. [Journal Article]Chirurgia (Bucur). 2026 Sep 01; 121(Ahead of print):1-6. [Online ahead of print]C
- Primary malignancy in accessory breast tissue is an infrequent diagnosis representing less than 1% of all breast cancers and most commonly presents with a palpable mass in the axilla. Furthermore, a concurrent second primary breast cancer found in accessory breast tissue is an extremely rare phenomenon, although reports of these are on the rise. Extra-mammary sites where second primary breast mal…

- Staphylococcus aureus, a gram-positive bacterium, which causes skin and soft tissue infections in hospital and community settings, is one of the leading threats in public health because of their proficiency to develop biofilms as an adaptive feature.

- First Latin American retrospective registry of cardiac ablation in pediatric and congenital heart disease patients. A LAHRS registry. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: In this first exclusively pediatric and congenital heart disease retrospective registry of catheter ablation in Latin America, a high rate of success and low incidence of complications was observed. This is in concordance with previously reported registries from other latitudes, proving that ablation is an effective and safe therapy in this group of patients.

- Cystic Neutrophilic Granulomatous Mastitis in Accessory Breast Tissue: A Case Report. [Case Reports]
- CONCLUSIONS: CNGM arising in accessory breast tissue is exceptionally rare and may pose a diagnostic challenge because of its nonspecific clinical and imaging features. This case expands the recognized clinical spectrum of CNGM and highlights the importance of considering CNGM in the differential diagnosis of inflammatory lesions arising in accessory breast tissue. Histopathological evaluation is essential for establishing the diagnosis and excluding malignancy or other inflammatory conditions.

- Computed Tomographic Findings of Ischemic Necrosis of the Accessory Carpal Bone in a Dog. [Case Reports]Vet Radiol Ultrasound. 2026 Nov; 67(6):e70251.VR
- A 1-year-and-9-month-old Golden Retriever presented with a 9-month history of right thoracic limb lameness. Radiographs revealed a monostotic, expansile lesion of the right accessory carpal bone (ACB). A computed tomography (CT) confirmed the aggressive nature of the lesion, demonstrating multifocal moth-eaten osteolysis, sclerosis, periosteal reaction, and flexor carpi ulnaris tendinopathy. Diff…

- Multimodal comparison of 19 single-use flexible ureteroscopes: bench testing, operative video assessment, and surgeon ratings. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Contemporary single-use fURSs show substantial heterogeneity, and no single device excelled across every domain. Device selection should weigh several performance characteristics against the intended clinical scenario; whether bench performance predicts surgeon-reported usability remains unresolved and warrants larger, adequately powered studies.

- CONCLUSIONS: These findings indicate that long-term motorcycle use can cause neurophysiological alterations in upper extremity nerve conduction. The outcomes of this study may support the development of ergonomic interventions and protective strategies to mitigate the potential risks associated with prolonged motorcycle use.

- Myoepithelioma of the Accessory Parotid Gland: A Case Report. [Case Reports]
- Myoepithelioma is an extremely rare benign tumor of the salivary glands that poses a diagnostic challenge because its clinical, radiologic, and cytopathologic characteristics may resemble those of several other salivary gland tumors. Accessory parotid myoepithelioma is even rarer. A 24-year-old female patient presented with a five-year history of a gradually increasing, painless swelling in the r…

- Acquired Distichiasis in Dermatomyositis: A Possible Delayed Sequela of Chronic Periocular Inflammation. [Case Reports]
- Acquired distichiasis is an uncommon eyelid disorder characterized by an accessory row of eyelashes arising from the meibomian gland orifices, most often in the setting of chronic inflammatory or cicatricial disease. We report a case of a 65-year-old woman with longstanding dermatomyositis, recurrent periocular inflammation, and episodes of blepharitis who developed bilateral upper-eyelid distich…

- Rapid Molecular Diagnostics of Tuberculosis: What Do We Have, What Do We Need? [Review]
- Smear microscopy and culture are conventional methods of tuberculosis (TB) diagnostics. Microscopy is fast and inexpensive but has low sensitivity, whereas culture is highly sensitive but may take several weeks. Molecular diagnostic (MDx) methods were widely introduced into TB diagnostics much later, in the early 2010s, when the GeneXpert system was launched. MDx methods combine the benefits of t…
