- Immediate implant placement using a digital surgical guide with hydroxyapatite nano-coated versus uncoated implants: 1-year results of a single-blind randomized controlled trial. [Journal Article]J Periodontal Implant Sci. 2026 Aug 21. [Online ahead of print]JP
- CONCLUSIONS: At 1 year, HA nano-coated and uncoated SLA implants showed comparable clinical and radiographic outcomes after immediate placement in the posterior maxilla. HA nano-coating provided no measurable benefit, possibly due to a ceiling effect of contemporary SLA surfaces. Digital guide to ensure sufficient abutment height and implant depth may help maintain emergence angles ≤30° and support peri-implant tissue health.

- Enhanced skin delivery of biomacromolecules using hollow sponge spicules. [Journal Article]
- This study introduces hollow sponge Haliclona sp. spicules (oSHS) as an innovative microneedle technology for enhancing the skin delivery of biomacromolecules. oSHS were developed by etching SHS in 2 mol/L NaOH for 48 h, optimizing hollow channel formation while preserving structural integrity. In vitro experiments demonstrated that oSHS significantly enhanced drug absorption efficiency compared …

- Phytic Acid-Induced Oxygen Vacancies in Self-Supporting NiCo Metal-Organic Frameworks for Efficient Oxygen Evolution Reaction. [Journal Article]Small. 2026 Oct 04; :e76082. [Online ahead of print]S
- The sluggish kinetics of the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) impede efficient water electrolysis, motivating the development of robust, non-precious-metal electrocatalysts. Here, we construct a self-supported bimetallic metal-organic framework precatalyst (PAx-NiCo-BDC) through a two-step strategy using phytic acid (PA) for mild etching and multidentate coordination. This treatment introduces oxy…

- The discovery of in-plane ordered MAX (i-MAX) phases containing lanthanides provides a promising route to novel MXenes. Most MXenes have transition elements occupying the M site. However, the distinctive optical and magnetic properties of lanthanides could yield multifunctional MAX phases and MXenes with applications in aeronautics, radiation shielding, and space technology. Previously, lanthanid…

- Adhesive-based protective strategies for enamel cracks during in-office bleaching and their effect on hydrogen peroxide penetration. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Neither adhesive-based strategy provided a protective effect against HP diffusion in teeth with enamel cracks. The 3-stepER strategy did not reduce HP penetration compared with unprotected cracked enamel, whereas the UA-ER strategy resulted in significantly greater HP penetration, indicating an adhesive-dependent response.

- Hierarchically porous Co-N-C catalysts from bimetallic Zn/Co zeolitic imidazolate frameworks for selective CO2 electroreduction to CO. [Journal Article]
- The conversion of CO2 to CO using electrochemistry requires the use of earth abundant catalysts with high selectivity, rapid reaction rate, and durability. In this work, hierarchically porous Co-N-C catalysts were synthesized via co-pyrolysis of a bimetallic zeolitic imidazolate framework (Zn/Co) and the dicyandiamide (DCD) followed by acid etching. By systematically adjusting the pyrolysis tempe…

- Effects of hydroxyapatite-containing oral care products on phosphoric-acid-etched enamel micro-morphology: Findings from erosion-relevant in vitro and in situ environments. [Journal Article]Arch Oral Biol. 2026 Sep 26; 192:106771. [Online ahead of print]AO
- CONCLUSIONS: HAP-containing oral care products did not show micro-morphological effects indicative of specific mineral deposition in any environment. The findings suggest that formulation-environmental interactions, potentially involving excipient-related effects, may influence the formation or persistence of precipitate-like surface structures.

- Molecular-level petroleum refining by graded membranes. [Journal Article]Natl Sci Rev. 2026 Sep; 13(18):nwag488.NS
- Light naphtha is a critical feedstock whose full value relies on molecular-level fractionation into value-specific streams. Achieving such precise separation remains difficult because its components exhibit extremely similar physicochemical properties. Here, we address this challenge by developing a graded membrane cascade based on metal-organic framework CuBTC whose pore size and surface chemist…

- We demonstrate a tunable organic/inorganic metal-organic framework (MOF) structure, constructed on in-plane MBene (i-MBene) to serve as electrodes for supercapacitors. Bimetallic Zn/Cu MOF was synthesized and hybridized in situ over in-plane Mo4/3Y2/3B2 (ZC-MYB), whereas i-MBene was produced by etching aluminum layers using hydrofluoric acid. The ZC-MYB composite demonstrated a 46% increase in sp…

- Effect of Different Surface Treatments of CAD/CAM Zirconia Core on the Final Color of Porcelain-Veneered Restorations. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Sandblasting significantly altered the optical properties of zirconia, leading to noticeable changes in color, particularly in lightness. In contrast, acid etching had minimal impact on color changes. These findings have clinical implications for the aesthetic planning of zirconia-based restorations, particularly in the anterior region, as highly aesthetic areas, where precise color matching is crucial.
