- Cholinergic urticaria following active forced-air warming in the post-anesthesia care unit: a case report and literature review. [Case Reports]Front Med (Lausanne). 2026; 13:1965980.FM
- CONCLUSIONS: This case underscores the synergistic pathophysiology of postoperative shivering, active warming, and extubation-related sympathetic activation in precipitating CU. This case suggests that postoperative shivering, active warming, and extubation-related sympathetic activation occurred in close temporal sequence with the CU episode and may have jointly contributed to the rapid rise in core temperature and symptom onset. CU may occur during post-anesthesia recovery and should be promptly recognized on the basis of rash morphology, vital signs, and dynamic body temperature changes, differentiated from perioperative anaphylaxis, and managed with targeted temperature control and symptomatic treatment.

- Pantoprazole-induced anaphylactic asthma and Type I Kounis syndrome: a case report and literature review. [Case Reports]Front Cardiovasc Med. 2026; 13:1883834.FC
- CONCLUSIONS: This case highlights that intravenous pantoprazole may rarely trigger life-threatening Type I Kounis syndrome. It also raises the possibility that a pre-existing myocardial bridge can accentuate coronary vasospasm during severe allergic reactions, thereby contributing to the clinical presentation. Based on this experience and the available literature, we propose a practical management algorithm to facilitate timely diagnosis and treatment in similar clinical settings.

- Systemic Allergic Reactions to mRNA COVID-19 Vaccines: A Randomized Placebo-controlled Trial. [Journal Article]J Allergy Clin Immunol. 2026 Oct 13. [Online ahead of print]JA
- CONCLUSIONS: Systemic allergic reactions based solely on clinical determination within 90-minutes or 48-hours of vaccination were only observed in PSAR/MCD but failure to achieve planned enrollment limited statistical precision. Reactions to placebo and failure to identify underlying immunologic mechanisms suggest non-allergic or non-immunologic causes.

- Food-Associated Kounis Syndrome: Clinical Spectrum and Diagnostic Considerations from a Case Report and Systematic Qualitative Synthesis of Published Cases. [Systematic Review]
- Kounis syndrome (KS) is a hypersensitivity-associated acute coronary syndrome. Food-associated KS remains poorly characterized, and its clinical presentation may be mimicked by non-immune food-related toxic reactions. To characterize the food exposures, clinical and cardiovascular presentations, allergological assessment, potential cofactors, KS phenotypes, management, and outcomes reported in fo…

- Mast cell activation syndrome: Global perspectives from a World Allergy Organization survey on knowledge, diagnosis, and access to care. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: MCAS represents a condition in which both under-recognition and diagnostic uncertainty remain important challenges in contemporary practice. Significant unmet needs include strengthening clinician knowledge and application of the AIM/ECNM diagnostic framework, expanding global access to validated biomarkers, improving diagnostic precision, and harmonizing clinical approaches. At the same time, the findings of this survey suggest a need for continued evaluation and refinement of the current diagnostic framework to improve its applicability across the heterogeneous clinical spectrum of patients with suspected MCAS. Coordinated international efforts are urgently required to reduce diagnostic uncertainty, minimize inequities in care, and support the continued evolution toward a more accurate, consistent, and clinically applicable diagnostic approach worldwide.

- Hornet Sting-Induced Type I Kounis Syndrome Presenting as a Non-ST-Elevation Acute Coronary Syndrome: A Case Report. [Case Reports]
- Kounis syndrome is an acute coronary syndrome triggered by an allergic or anaphylactic reaction. Diagnosis can be challenging when epinephrine is administered during the same episode because both the allergic reaction and epinephrine may influence coronary vascular tone. We report the case of a 62-year-old man with no previous cardiac history who developed anaphylactic shock after a hornet sting …

- Standards for practical management of drug hypersensitivity reactions to intravenous drugs and proactive early allergy involvement before referral: A WAO Statement. [Review]
- Hypersensitivity reactions to intravenous therapies-including antibiotics, chemotherapeutics, biologics, anesthesia agents, and contrast media-pose significant challenges in acute care settings. These reactions often occur outside the purview of allergy specialists, leading to delays in recognition, suboptimal management, and inconsistent documentation. This article underscores the imperative for…

- The Benefits of Managing Anaphylaxis at Home. [Review]Immunol Allergy Clin North Am. 2026 Nov; 46(4):663-669.IA
- Based on current data, immediate activation of EMS in all cases of anaphylaxis does not provide significant benefit. Instead, the option for home management or a "watchful-waiting" approach allowing for increased patient autonomy in anaphylaxis management and emphasizing prompt epinephrine use at home. In this model, patients are instructed to quickly administer epinephrine and monitor for resolu…

- Real-world safety of dengue vaccines in Brazil: A pharmacovigilance study. [Journal Article]Vaccine. 2026 Nov 14; 93:129178.V
- CONCLUSIONS: In this nationwide pharmacovigilance study, dengue vaccines demonstrated a favorable safety profile, with serious adverse events accounting for only a small proportion of reported events. These findings support the implementation of dengue vaccination programs while reinforcing the importance of ongoing surveillance to identify rare safety signals and reduce preventable immunization errors.

- Safety Monitoring of COVID-19 Vaccines in the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS): United States, August 22, 2024-July 4, 2025. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: This review of AEs reported after the 2024-2025 formulation of the COVID-19 vaccines is consistent with previous observations after COVID-19 vaccination. Most reports were non-serious, and the most common AEs were consistent with known reactogenicity profiles. Ongoing safety monitoring of COVID-19 vaccines continues. Any potential risks of vaccine-related AEs should be considered in the context of the benefits of COVID-19 vaccines in preventing COVID-19 and its potentially serious complications.
