- Associations of Serum Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) With Epigenetic Age and DNA Methylation in US Airport Firefighters. [Journal Article]Environ Mol Mutagen. 2026 Oct; 67(8-9):e70085.EM
- Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are synthetic chemicals used in a variety of consumer and industrial applications for their water- and oil-resistant properties. Firefighters can be exposed to PFAS as part of their job through gear, aqueous film-forming foams (AFFFs) used to extinguish aircraft and liquid fuel fires, along with exposure through other combustible materials during fire su…

- Faith-based organisations in providing HIV services within low- and middle-income countries (LMICs): a systematic review. [Systematic Review]HIV Res Clin Pract. 2026 Dec 31; 27(1):2728497.HR
- CONCLUSIONS: Despite cultural and resource-based challenges, FBO interventions showed significant potential for expanding community-based HIV care within LMICs in sub-Saharan Africa. This review discusses several recommendations to strengthen FBO activities, encourage effective partnerships with FBOs, and ultimately lead to better HIV outcomes within LMICs. However, given the heterogeneity and quality of studies included, recommendations should be interpreted with caution.

- LAG3 checkpoint function and its mechanism of action in therapeutic targeting. [Review]Nat Rev Immunol. 2026 Oct 09. [Online ahead of print]NR
- Lymphocyte activation gene 3 (LAG3) protein is a key immune inhibitory checkpoint receptor that suppresses T cell activation, proliferation and effector functions to maintain immune homeostasis and tolerance. In persistent pathological settings, chronic T cell receptor (TCR) signalling, together with sustained LAG3 signalling and other inhibitory receptor signalling, drives T cell dysfunction, hi…

- Effects of Saccharomyces cerevisiae boulardii CNCM I-1079 on immune phenotype during the periparturient period. [Journal Article]J Dairy Sci. 2026 Oct 09. [Online ahead of print]JD
- This study aims to characterize systemic and colonic intestinal mucosal immune phenotype in dairy cows across the periparturient period, and to determine whether Saccharomyces cerevisiae boulardii CNCM I-1079 (SCB) supplementation affects those components. Holstein cows (n = 83) were blocked by parity and randomly assigned to either control (CON; n = 43) or SCB (n = 40; targeted supplementation: …

- Metformin-loaded multi-enzymatic metal-organic framework nanozyme mediates metabolic reprogramming via multiple energy blockades to boost tumor immunotherapy. [Journal Article]Acta Biomater. 2026 Oct 09. [Online ahead of print]AB
- Glycolytic metabolism of tumor cells suppresses the activity of immune cells, and multiple blocking energy supply and remodeling the metabolic microenvironment are important strategies to enhance immunotherapy. Using manganese-doped porphyrin metal-organic framework (MOF) as a carrier, by depositing ultrasmall Au nanoparticle (AuNPs), loading metformin (MET) and coating polydopamine (PDA), an int…

- Acid-degradable hollow calcium-manganese nanocarriers integrate calcium stress, redox catalysis, and antitumor immunity for lung cancer therapy. [Journal Article]Acta Biomater. 2026 Oct 09. [Online ahead of print]AB
- Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) remains a major cause of cancer-related mortality, while acquired resistance to EGFR-targeted therapy and an immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment continue to limit therapeutic efficacy. Here, we developed a tumor cell membrane-coated, acid-degradable hollow calcium-manganese nanoplatform loaded with gefitinib (CM@HCC-Mn/Gef) for combined redox modulation and…

- Effective treatment of orthotopic liver cancer with bifunctional embolization microspheres. [Journal Article]Acta Biomater. 2026 Oct 09. [Online ahead of print]AB
- Transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) is a minimally invasive procedure used widely for the treatment of unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). However, embolization-induced hypoxia upregulates VEGF, and the resulting angiogenic response contributes to tumor recurrence, further limiting the efficacy of TACE against HCC. Herein, we present a multifunctional embolic microsphere syst…

- CONCLUSIONS: Golidocitinib alleviated iRT-LI by reducing macrophage infiltration and inhibiting M1 polarization, oxidative stress, and pyroptosis. These findings provide new insights into the mechanisms underlying iRT-related pulmonary toxicity.

- Renal Candidal Bezoar in an SGLT2 Inhibitor User with an Indwelling Ureteral Stent: A Case Report and Review of Literatures. [Case Reports]Urol Int. 2026 Oct 09; :1. [Online ahead of print]UI
- Renal candidal bezoar is a rare cause of obstructive pyonephrosis and usually occurs in patients with diabetes mellitus, immunosuppression, urinary obstruction, or indwelling urinary devices. We report an 88-year-old man with type 2 diabetes treated with dapagliflozin, stage 3 chronic kidney disease, and a history of ureteral stricture managed with ureteral stenting who developed recurrent candid…

- Concurrent chromosomal 17q-gain and MYCN amplification define a subset of neuroblastoma associated with particularly adverse clinical outcomes. However, how these genetic alterations synergize to promote tumor progression and whether their cooperation confers therapeutic vulnerabilities remain elusive. We herein performed a CRISPR-based functional screen targeting 17q-gain genes and identified th…

- Beyond gastric acid: pharmacologic modulation of the tumor microenvironment by vonoprazan and its drug-interaction implications for chemotherapy and immunotherapy. [Review]
- CONCLUSIONS: Available evidence supports a context-dependent pharmacologic framework rather than a uniform oncologic effect. Direct evidence for tumor-cell accumulation and vonoprazan-specific effects on V-ATPase activity in tumors remains limited. Prospective clinical and translational studies are needed to determine the clinical relevance of these potential interactions and to define appropriate use alongside anticancer therapies.
