- Integrated genomic, transcriptomic, and proteomic analyses prioritize cadmium-responsive class III peroxidases in Salix variegata. [Journal Article]Front Plant Sci. 2026; 17:1956650.FP
- Class III peroxidases (PRXs) link apoplastic redox regulation with cell-wall remodeling, yet their coordinated transcript- and protein-level responses to cadmium (Cd) remain poorly resolved in woody plants. We identified 80 high-confidence class III PRX genes in Salix variegata and characterized their genomic organization, evolutionary relationships, protein properties, and predicted regulatory f…

- Neu5Gc and beyond: sialylation at the innate immune and thromboinflammatory interface of xenotransplantation. [Review]Front Transplant. 2026; 5:1968710.FT
- Recent advances in genetic engineering have substantially reduced the major carbohydrate barriers to pig-to-human xenotransplantation. Deletion of GGTA1, CMAH, and B4GALNT2 decreases αGal, Neu5Gc, and B4GALNT2-dependent Sda-like xenoantigens and thereby attenuates preformed antibody binding and complement-mediated injury. However, removal of these major xenoantigens does not necessarily generate …

- Green-synthesized ZnO and ZnO-MgO nanoparticles from Abelmoschus esculentus extract for multifunctional sago starch active packaging films. [Journal Article]RSC Adv. 2026 Oct 12. [Online ahead of print]RA
- This study developed multifunctional sago starch active packaging films incorporating Abelmoschus esculentus extract (AE), green-synthesized ZnO nanoparticles (ZnONPs), and ZnO-MgO nanoparticles (ZnO-MgONPs). XRD confirmed the successful formation of crystalline nanoparticles, with average crystallite sizes of 22.4 ± 2.1 nm for ZnONPs and 18.7 ± 1.8 nm for ZnO-MgONPs. FESEM/TEM showed quasi-spher…

- Development and psychometric validation of a health literacy competency scale for nurses, and its application in a cross-sectional survey: a methodological study. [Journal Article]Front Public Health. 2026; 14:1978033.FP
- CONCLUSIONS: The HLC-N demonstrated robust psychometric properties and may serve as a reliable tool for assessing HLC among nurses in China. Targeted training and health promotion for nurses could enhance their HLC. Future research should explore additional predictors and validate the scale across diverse nursing populations.

- The resveratrol monomer enhances resistance to bacterial pathogen through the activation of SA-NPR1 signaling pathway in Arabidopsis. [Journal Article]Front Plant Sci. 2026; 17:1834312.FP
- Resveratrol is stilbene phytoalexin that exhibits antimicrobial activity in diverse plant species. Although its direct antimicrobial effects have been investigated extensively, its role and regulatory mechanism in plant immune signaling remain unclear. In this study, we demonstrate that resveratrol enhances resistance to bacterial pathogens through activation of endogenous defense pathways in Ara…

- Integrated counter current separation and omics approaches for discovery of bioactive compounds from medicinal plants. [Review]Front Pharmacol. 2026; 17:1901153.FP
- Medicinal plants provide an important source of structurally varied bioactive metabolites with medicinal potential; however, their effective extraction, characterization, and standardization present considerable analytical challenges. Counter-current separation (CCS) methods, such as centrifugal partition chromatography (CPC) and high-speed counter-current chromatography (HSCCC), represent advanc…

- Mass Cytometry Reveals Cell Type-specific Immune Remodeling in Placentas of Women with Chronic Hepatitis B Infection. [Journal Article]J Clin Transl Hepatol. 2026 Sep 28; 14(9):896-911.JC
- CONCLUSIONS: These exploratory findings suggest that HBV may reshape placental immunity through enhanced NK cell activation, broad basophil suppression, and disrupted marker coordination. The sample size was limited (n = 20), so the results need to be validated in larger cohorts. These findings provide new perspectives for understanding the mechanisms of mother-to-child transmission.

- Bayesian re-analysis suggests participation rather than referral underlies the benefits of social prescribing for chronic diseases. [Systematic Review]Front Public Health. 2026; 14:1951236.FP
- CONCLUSIONS: SP has a high probability of improving physical activity among adults with chronic diseases. Successful participation, rather than referral alone, appears to be the principal mechanism underlying these benefits.

- Circulating angiogenic T cells as potential immune-vascular biomarkers associated with disease activity in axial spondyloarthritis. [Journal Article]Front Immunol. 2026; 17:1886629.FI
- CONCLUSIONS: Circulating angiogenic T cells are inversely associated with disease activity in axSpA and represent a novel immune-vascular biomarker that is not redundant with traditional inflammatory parameters. These findings provide a clinical immunophenotypic framework highlighting altered vascular repair-immune interactions in axSpA and support further functional studies to clarify the functional role of Tang cells in disease pathogenesis.

- Plasma biomarker strategies to reduce diagnostic uncertainty in p-tau217-based assessment of CSF amyloid positivity in secondary-care patients with MCI. [Journal Article]Front Aging Neurosci. 2026; 18:1918304.FA
- Plasma p-tau217 accurately reflects amyloid pathology, but dual-cutoff strategies leave a non-negligible grey zone requiring confirmatory testing. We evaluated whether integrating plasma Aβ measurements could reduce diagnostic uncertainty in patients with mild cognitive impairment (MCI).

- Breaking the ERK1/2 negative feedback loop: avoiding reactivation and acquisition of resistance by ERK1/2 to anti-cancer agents. [Review]Front Oncol. 2026; 16:1948976.FO
- The RAS-RAF-MEK-ERK signaling pathway plays a key regulatory role in the survival and proliferation of mammalian cells. Accordingly, deregulated activation of this cascade by a mutated K-RAS (mutK-RAS) is a major cause of cancer initiation and progression. These findings led to the development of synthetic inhibitors that target the mutK-RAS protein, as a therapeutic approach. However, the challe…

- TGF-β1 Induced Methylation to Regulate SOCS3 Expression in Abnormal Activation of Vocal Fold Fibroblasts. [Journal Article]World J Otorhinolaryngol Head Neck Surg. 2026 Oct 11. [Online ahead of print]WJ
- CONCLUSIONS: TGF-β1 is proposed to promote abnormal activation of VFFs, which may be associated with DNA methylation-mediated regulation of SOCS3. Specifically, TGF-β1 may downregulate SOCS3 expression via DNMT1-mediated promoter DNA methylation, and this process is speculated to participate in abnormal VFFs activation by relieving the inhibitory effect of SOCS3 on the JAK2/STAT3 signaling pathway.

- Eculizumab in rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis: a case-series report. [Case Reports]Front Immunol. 2026; 17:1919699.FI
- CONCLUSIONS: In this descriptive case series, we observed trends toward improved renal function and hematuria at 3 months in patients with severe RPGN who received eculizumab in addition to standard immunosuppression, with earlier initiation and milder baseline renal impairment appearing to correlate with more favorable outcomes. Nevertheless, the lack of a control group and the marked interpatient variability in baseline characteristics and concomitant therapies preclude any conclusion regarding a causal effect of eculizumab. Instead, these data serve as real-world observations that can generate hypotheses for future studies. Definitive evidence on the efficacy and safety of eculizumab in RPGN must await larger, prospective, controlled investigations.
