- Combined Active Bone Marrow-Sparing Radiotherapy and Prophylactic PEG-rhG-CSF to Reduce Severe Neutropenia During Platinum-Doublet Concurrent Chemoradiotherapy for Locally Advanced Cervical Cancer: A Phase II Trial. [Clinical Trial, Phase II]Cancer Med. 2026 Oct; 15(10):e72366.CM
- CONCLUSIONS: The combination of ABMS radiotherapy and prophylactic PEG-rhG-CSF was associated with a grade ≥ 3 neutropenia rate of 13.0% and a chemotherapy completion rate of 85.2% during platinum-doublet CCRT for LACC. Because the single-arm design and reliance on historical controls preclude causal inference, these findings are hypothesis-generating and primarily establish the operational feasibility of this dual hematoprotection approach. Formal evaluation of safety and efficacy requires the ongoing randomized trial (ChiCTR2400087321).

- Reallocating Surgical Activity to Expand Critical Care Capacity During the SARS-CoV-2 Pandemic: A Descriptive and Analytical Study in a French University Hospital Network. [Journal Article]J Eval Clin Pract. 2026 Oct; 32(7):e70665.JE
- CONCLUSIONS: Clinically acceptable postponement of low-priority elective surgery contributes substantially to ICU surge capacity. Integrating prioritization and predictive modeling into preparedness strategies may support balanced, data-driven responses to future healthcare system shocks.

- How Community Pharmacists Use Their Know-Who When Dispensing Medicines: A Qualitative Study. [Journal Article]J Eval Clin Pract. 2026 Oct; 32(7):e70664.JE
- CONCLUSIONS: Community pharmacists integrate 'Know-Who' with theoretical and practical knowledge to make contextually informed, patient-centered decisions. This relational dimension enables them to manage uncertainty, optimise communication, and foster effective interprofessional collaboration. These findings underscore the importance of incorporating relational and contextual knowledge into pharmacy education and training, and suggest that acknowledging the role of 'Know-Who' could enhance both the safety and quality of pharmaceutical care.

- Supportive Outpatient-Provider Communication-A Scoping Review About Expectations, Experiences, and Actual Behaviours Regarding Healthcare Visits. [Review]J Eval Clin Pract. 2026 Oct; 32(7):e70626.JE
- CONCLUSIONS: This review contributed by summarising the existing studies and findings, and by identifying research gaps. Actual evidence about supporting outpatient-provider communication is still thin and unilateral. Thus, gaps are manifold and we must be cautious with interpretations. Interdisciplinary collaboration is required to enhance our understanding. The lack of studies concerns especially (a) qualitative studies about diverse cultures, patients, and providers in primary care; (b) video materials about actual behaviours; (c) expectations (as values) together with experiences; (d) studies about expectations as probabilities. Importantly, organisations/systems should be perceived as integral (f)actors of supportive outpatient-provider communication. Existing knowledge about supportive, person-centred, and patient-provider communication is valuable until we know more about supportive outpatient-provider communication.

- Subcutaneous methotrexate for treating rheumatoid arthritis in Portugal: a cost-utility analysis versus current practice. [Journal Article]ARP Rheumatol. 2026; 5(3):152-171.AR
- CONCLUSIONS: This CUA evaluated the value-for money of subcutaneous versus oral methotrexate for RA management in Portugal and found that subcutaneous methotrexate is likely a cost-effective strategy, with the potential to reduce healthcare expenditure and improve patient outcomes. These findings support consideration of wider adoption of subcutaneous methotrexate within Portuguese clinical practice.
- [Successful treatment of hypokalemic cardiac arrest with massive potassium replacement in a patient with Bricker urinary diversion]. [Case Reports]Orv Hetil. 2026 Oct 11; 167(41):1664-1668.OH
- Severe hypokalemia is a rare but potentially reversible cause of malignant arrhythmias and cardiac arrest. Early recognition of significant fluid, electrolyte, and acid-base disturbances in patients with intestinal urinary diversion may be life-saving. We present the clinical course of a 55-year-old woman who developed severe hyperchloremic metabolic acidosis and extreme hypokalemia following pro…

- Isolating anti-D, anti-C, and anti-G in immunohematology: a method comparison. [Journal Article]Immunohematology. 2026 Sep 01; 42(3):96-101.I
- G is present on virtually all red blood cells expressing either D or C; thus, identification of anti-G, anti-D, and anti-C in a patient's plasma can be challenging. While identification of anti-G is usually of little clinical significance, it becomes increasingly important in the context of prenatal care. Proper antibody differentiation is necessary to determine candidacy for Rh immune globulin a…

- Prevalence, Risk Indicators, and Patient-Reported Outcomes of Labial Gingival Recession Following Orthodontic Treatment: A Retrospective Study. [Journal Article]Clin Exp Dent Res. 2026 Oct; 12(5):e70483.CE
- CONCLUSIONS: Gingival recession occurrence after orthodontic treatment is time- and site-dependent. A thin-scalloped gingival phenotype is the main risk indicator for incident GR, whereas pre-existing recession is highly persistent. Despite its occurrence, gingival recession had limited impact on patient satisfaction.

- TXNDC11 is an endoplasmic reticulum-associated redox protein involved in protein quality control, but its relevance in acute myeloid leukemia remains incompletely understood. This study examined the expression pattern, prognostic value, and stress-related functional role of TXNDC11 in acute myeloid leukemia using public transcriptomic datasets and experimental validation. - BackgroundGlaucoma is the leading cause of irreversible blindness worldwide, with primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) arising as the most common subtype. Recent studies have shown that muscarinic and prostaglandin pathways can modulate bone remodeling under systemic, context-dependent conditions. M3 muscarinic receptor activation has been linked to increased bone formation and decreased resorption…

- In light of the increasing exposure to folate and its unresolved relationship with skin cancer, experimental studies are warranted to better understand and define its role in skin carcinogenesis. The present study evaluated the effects of folic acid supplementation on cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (cSCC) in mice and explored the underlying mechanisms. A two-stage skin carcinogenesis model was…

- Conventional glofitamab step-up dosing reaches the 30-mg target dose approximately 3 weeks after obinutuzumab. This interval may be difficult to accommodate in patients with relapsed or refractory large B-cell lymphoma (R/R LBCL) who require disease control within days before cellular therapy. We retrospectively evaluated an accelerated bridging schedule of obinutuzumab 1000 mg on day 1 followed …

- The Japanese eel (Anguilla japonica) is a commercially important species whose captive reproduction remains challenging. Bone morphogenetic protein 15 (BMP15) is an oocyte-derived factor that plays a key role in regulating folliculogenesis; however, its function in Japanese eel is unclear. In this study, the full-length Japanese eel bmp15 cDNA was cloned and bioactive recombinant BMP15 protein wa…
